In the high pressure state, the leakage flow rate of hydraulics is one of serious problems and the great reason to decrease the volume efficiency. In this paper, I tried to clarify tribology characteristics for the slipper hydrostatic bearing in swash plate type axial piston pumps and motors by means of experiment . I measured the leakage flow rate between swash plate and piston shoe with change the supply pressure and oil temperature at a swash plate angle of 0。 . And I also investigated the slipper pocket pressure and calculated oil film thickness for theoretical method. So. 1 have analyzed the tribology characteristics of hydrostatic bearing for leakage flow rate and oil film thickness with oil temperature and supply pressure.
The tribological mechanism between the valve plate and the cylinder block in oil hydraulic axial piston pumps plays an important role on high power density. In this study, the fluid film thickness between the valve plate and the cylinder block was measured with discharge pressure and rotational speed by use of a gap sensor, and a slip ring system in the operating period. To investigate the effect of the valve plate shapes, we designed two valve plates with different shapes . the first valve plate was without a bearing pad, while the second valve plate had a bearing pad. It was found that both valve plates behaved differently with respect to the fluid film thickness characteristics. The leakage flow rates and the shaft torque were also experimented in order to clarify the performance difference between the valve plate without a bearing pad and the valve plate with a bearing pad. From the results of this study, we found out that in the oil hydraulic axial piston pumps, the valve plate with a bearing pad showed better film thickness contours than the valve plate without a bearing pad.
Recently, the importance of variable displacement piston pump is increasing in industrial world. Especially, most consumers require various range of pressures and flow rates. Pressure compensator is a system controlling flow rate in piston pump at low cost and, therefore, satisfies the need of consumers. However, the system has serious problems, such as response and leakage. The response and leakage are affected by clearance between actuator piston and cylinder, roughness of surface, and spool overlap. In this paper, these effects are investigated experimentally, and optimal clearance and chamfer is obtained. While diameter of cylinder is fixed and diameter of actuator piston is changed in this experiment, response and leakage are measured. Also parameters such as roughness and processing accuracy are changed for piston of fixed clearance. Experimental setup modelled into several parts of actuator piston, cylinder, spool, and swash plate. Input pressure is changed by function generator and proportional valve. The result of this experiment shows that leakage increases very much in proportion to the increase of clearance, and especially leakage occurs enormously when clearance is more than 0.002. The response is not good because as clearance increases leakage increases and as clearance decreases viscous damping effect increases. Accordingly, it is found out that optimal clearance range exists for tile response, within about 0.0012∼0.0014, at this time. Futhermore, the better roughness and geometrical accuracy of actuator piston are, the smaller are leakage and friction. The paper informs that response and leakage are influenced by and geometrical accuracy of actuator piston, roughness of surface, and the clearance between actuator piston and cylinder, and that optimal design of actuator piston in the pressure compensator is possible.

In order to design and analyze the performance of an axial-flow pump it is necessary to know the flow deviation, deflection angle and pressure loss coefficient as a function of the angle of incidence for the hydrofoil section in use. Because such functions are unique to the particular section, however, general correlation formulae are not available for the multitude of hydrofoil profiles, and such functions must be generated by either experiment or numerical simulation for the given or selected hydrofoil section. The purpose of present study is to generate design correlations for hydrofoils with double circular arc (DCA) camber by numerical analysis using a commercial code, FLUENT. The cascade configuration is determined by a combination of the inlet blade angle, blade thickness, camber angle, and cascade solidity, and a total of 90 cascade configurations are analyzed in this study. The inlet Reynolds number based on the chord and the inlet absolute velocity is fixed at 5${\times}$10$\^$5/. Design correlations are formulated, based on the data at the incidence angle of minimum total pressure loss. The correlations obtained in this way show good agreement with the experiment data collected at NASA with DCA hydrofoils.

In order to improve the performance of marine centrifugal pump, a centrifugal pump whose specific speed is 66.7 was selected for the research. Outlet diameter D2, outlet width b2, blade outlet angle β2, blade wrap φ and blade number z of the impeller were chosen as the variables. The maximum weighted average efficiency and the minimum vibration intensity at the base were calculated as objectives. Based on the Latin Hypercube method, the impeller was numerically optimized. The numerical results show that after optimization, the amplitudes of pressure fluctuation on the main frequency at different monitoring points decrease in varying degrees. The radial force on impeller decreases obviously under off-design flow rates and is more symmetrical during the operation of the pump. The variation of the axial force is relatively small, which has no obvious relationship with the rotating angle of the impeller. The energy performance and vibration experiment was performed for verifying. The test results show that the weighted average efficiency under 0.8Qd, 1.0Qd and 1.2Qd increases by 4.3% after optimization. The maximal vibration intensity at M1-M4 on the pump base reduced from 0.36 mm/s to 0.25 mm/s, decreasing by 30.5%. In addition, the vibration velocities of bracket in pump side and outlet flange also have significant reductions.
An experimental study on transient critical heat flux (CHF) under flow coastdown has been performed for the water flow in a non-uniformly heated vertical annulus under low flow and a wide range of pressure conditions. The objectives of this study are to systematically investigate the effect of the flow transient on the CHF and to compare the transient CHF with steady-state CHF The transient CHF experiments have been performed for three kinds of flow transient modes based on the coastdown data of a nuclear power plant reactor coolant pump. At the same inlet subcooling, system pressure and heat flux, the effect of the initial mass flux on the critical mass flux can be negligible. However, the effect of the initial mass flux on the time-to- CHF becomes large as the heat flux decreases. The critical mass flux has the largest value for slow flow reduction rate. There is a pressure effect on the ratio of the transient CHF data to steady-state CHF data. Except under low system pressure conditions, the flow transient CHF was revealed to be conservative compared with the steady-state CHF data. Bowling CHF correlation and thermal hydraulic system code MARS show promising results for the prediction of CHF occurrence .
This application study of a swash-plate type axial piston pump was concerned about the lubrication characteristics between cylinder barrel and valve plate which are the main rotating body and its opposite sliding part respectively. A computer simulation was implemented to assess bearing and sealing functions of the fluid film between cylinder barrel and valve plate. A numerical algorithm was developed to facilitate simultaneous calculations of dynamic cylinder pressure, 3 degree-of-freedom barrel motions considering inertia effect, and fluid film pressure assuming full fluid film lubrication regime. Central clearance, tilt angle, and azimuth angle of the rotating body were calculated for each time step. Surface waviness was found to be an influential factor due to the small fluid film thickness which can appear in flat land bearings. Five surface lays which can form on the lubrication surface in accordance with machining process were defined and analyzed using the simulation tool. Oil leakage flow and frictional torque in the fluid film between cylinder barrel and valve plate were also calculated to discuss in the viewpoint of energy loss. The simulation results showed that in actual sliding conditions proper surface non-flatness can make a positive effect on the energy efficiency and reliability of the thrust bearing.

The Fluid film between the valve plate and the cylinder block was measured by use of a gap sensor and the mercury-cell slip ring unit under real working conditions. During the operating periods, experiments with discharge pressure, revolution speed, and valve geometry was carried out for the fluid film on the valve plate. To investigate the effect of the valve shape, we designed two valve plates each having a different shape; the first valve plate was a plane valve plate. while the second valve plate was a spherical valve plate. It was noted that these two valve plates observed different aspects of the fluid film characteristics between the cylinder block and the valve plate. The leakage flow rate and the shan torque were also investigated in order to clarify the difference between these two types of valve plates. From the results of this study. we found that the spherical valve plate estimated good fluid film patterns and performance more than the other valve plate in oil hydraulic axial piston pumps.

In this paper, a Helmholtz resonator type hydraulic filter is proposed to absorb flow and pressure ripple produced from a axial piston pump. The basic principle of hydraulic filter is applied to propagation of preossure waves, reflection, absorption in cross section of discontinuity and resonance in the pipeline. This filter has advantage of the compact size and high degree of freedom of installation. The design scheme of hydraulic filter based on viscous wave theory are developed and manufactured two kinds of filter to investigate damping capability. It is experimently confirmed that these filter is absorbed to be about 20dB of flow and pressure ripple with high frequencies.
