볼엔드밀 가공에서 공구 런아웃 매개변수 검출 (Cutter Runout Parameter Estimation in Ball-End Milling)

  • In this study, an indirect method to estimate the setup runout of a ball-end mill from cutting force signal is proposed. This runout makes cutting forces of each tooth of the milling cutter unequal. By transforming the cutting force model from time domain to frequency domain through time-convolution theorem, the magnitude and phase angle of runout can be explicitly expressed with material constants, cutting conditions, and force signal. The static setup runout can be obtained by extrapolating estimated effective runout, which is independent of feedrate but decreases linearly with increase in axial depth of cut. The setup runout estimated by slot cutting experiments, shows good agreement with the measured one.

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation of high speed machining of dies and molds. Several critical issues involved with the high speed machining of QRO90 tool steel of hardness up to HRc62, have been studied and explained from a detail analysis of experimental observations. The experiments were performed using ball end mills. The effect of different process parameters on tool life and surface finish produced was also investigated. The cutting parameters involved were; cutting speeds in the range of 100 to 40 / m/min, axial depth of cut from 0.1 to 0.5mm, pick feed of 0.1 to 0.5mm. Run out and acceleration signals were observed during the experiment to investigate cutting slates. Compressed air and flood coolant were used and the effect of coolant on tool life was also determined.

  • 3-D micro structures and micro tools are fabricated using MEDM (Micro Electric Discharge Machining). To make micro structures, micro electro discharge milling process is applied. During micro electro discharge milling, electrode (tool) wears both axial and radial direction. To compensate tool wear which influences significantly machining accuracy, overlap machining path is proposed. Machining characteristics of micro electro discharge milling is investigated in considering of depth of cut and capacitance of discharge circuit. Micro complex shaped tools are fabricated using REDM (reverse electro discharge machining). Sacrificial electrode is machined through electro discharge milling process and is used as electrode to make micro tools. Using this process several micro tools shape of 'ㄷ', 'ㅁ' and 'o' are fabricated. With these complex shaped tools, micro machining is successfully applied repeatedly.

평면식 건조기의 적정작업조건 설정에 관한 연구 (Study on The Qptimization of Operating Conditions of batch-type Grain Dryer)

  • Experimental work of batch-type dryer was conducted to develop its optimurm operating conditions by analyzing the major factors which affect the drying performance. A laboratory batch-type dryer was constructed and tested for various levels of heated-air rates, and depths of grain deposit. Tong-il rice variety having the initial moisture content of approximaely 23 per cent in wet basis was used for the experiment. The criteria selected for establishing the optimum operating condition were the drying performance rate, the thermal efficiency, and the operational cost of the dryer. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. The performance rate of dryer for a specific operating condition was defined as total amount of material dried per hour when the moisture content of grains in the upperlayer reaches to 16 per cent in wet basis. The optimum operating conditions as viewed in the rate of drying performance could be justified by functional realtionship between the depth of grain deposit and air flow rate. In other words, there was a definite depth of grain deposit for a given air-rate which make the dryer performance maximum. The optimum grain depth for the batch-type dryer with 3.3㎡ loading area and with the attached axial fan was about 35cm. 2. The thermal efficiency for the dryer was evaluated by the ratio of the latent heat required to evaporate the grain moisture to the heat input required to raise the ambient air-temperature to 40 degree centigrade. The optimum operating condition as viewed in term of thermal efficiency analyzed was that grater depth and lower air flow-rate may be desirable. This condition is contracted with the optimum condition as viewed by the dryer performance rate. 3. The annual operating cost of batch-type dryer was analyzed for different annual hour of use and for different operation condition. The optimum condition as viewed in terms of operating cost was almost identical to one as viewed in terms of dryer performance rate. Therefore, the most economical use of batch-type dryer for the same annual operating hours can be obtained when the dryer operated in the condition of maximum dryer performance rate. Increasing the annual operating hour may be desirable to cut down the dryer operation cost, since the annual hour of dryer use is much sensitive to the operating cost than any peractical conditions of dryer operation. 4. The most desirable operational condition as justified by combining all the criteria, dryer performance rate, thermal efficiency and annual operating cost, could be concluded to operate the dryer in the condition of maximum performance rate. The condition in general is identical to the lowest operation cost for a given annual operating hour.

소성변형과의 상관성에 근거한 아스팔트 콘크리트의 변형강도 개발을 위한 기초연구 (A Fundamental Approach for Developing Deformation Strength Based on Rutting Characteristics of Asphalt Concrete)

  • 본 논문은 아스팔트 포장의 소성변형 저항성 추정을 보다 쉽게 하기 위하여 새로운 시험법 및 장비를 개발하기 위한 연구이다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 종류의 아스팔트 혼합물을 사용하여 소성변형 저항성과의 상관성이 높게 나타나는 변형강도를 개발하기 위하여 하중봉의 직경(D) 3, 4cm, 각 봉의 하단을 다양하게 원형절삭(r)한 김 테스터를 개발하였다. 이를 이용하여 마샬시험과 같이 공시체를 $60^{\circ}C$에 수침처리하고 같은 속도의 정하중을 공시체에 다짐방향으로 가하여 최대하중 ($P_{max}$)과 이때의 수직 변위 (y)를 구하였다. 변형강도는 개발된 식 $K_D = 4P_{max}/{\pi}(D-2(r-\sqrt{2ry-y^2}))^2$으로 구하였으며 소성변형 특성치와 평균 $R^2$이 0.77이상의 높은 상관성을 보였다. 따라서 이 시험방법은 마샬안정도보다 훨씬 소성변형과의 상관관계가 큰 측정치를 얻을 수 있는 방법임을 알 수 있었으며, 특히 기존의 마샬시험기를 그대로 사용하고 공시체도 기존의 방법대로 제조 및 처리하도록 하여 적용이 빠를 것으로 판단된다. 향후 다양한 골재입도, 최대치수, r 등에서도 타당성과 상관성 검증을 통해 시험법을 표준화한다면 실용화 가능성이 매우 클 것이다.
