This study aims to study the change in the level of awareness of medical personnels regarding the patient safety culture(PSC) before and after the Leadership WalkRounds(LWR). The LWR in this study was based on the IHI and the models of the Patient Safety Rounds(PSRs) at University of Michigan, emphasizing the 5 steps of Preparation--Scheduling--Conducting--Reporting--Resolving. After the LWR the scores for the level of awareness showed a statistically significant increase from 2.63 to 3.36(p<.001). Among the participants, those who are pharmaceutists, women, 30.0~39.9 years old, or had work experience of a year or less showed particularly notable increase in awareness. The effect was significant across all categories of PSC, especially in Safety Accident Reporting(p<.001), then in Communication(p<.001). Therefore the LWR proved an convergent concept for applying new leadership skill and the concept of patient safety management as an method to elevate the frontline staffs' awareness of PSC.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the awareness of patient safety and performance of patient safety activities among hospitalized patients, and to provide basic data for the development of programs to improve them. The subjects were 103 adult patients at a general hospital in D city. Data were collected from Feb. 22 to Mar. 12, 2021, using structured questionnaires to measure the awareness of patient safety and performance of patient safety activities. The mean (±standard deviation) scores of awareness of patient safety and performance of patient safety activities were 4.22±0.52 out of 5 and 3.35±0.48 out of 4, respectively. The awareness of patient safety varied significantly depending on patient safety education (t=4.85, p<.001). The performance of patient safety activities varied significantly depending on marital state (t=2.75, p=.007) and patient safety education (t=3.88, p<.001). There was a significant correlation between the awareness of patient safety and the performance of patient safety activities (r=.59, p<.001). It is thus necessary to promote the improvement of the patient safety culture by developing programs to improve awareness of patient safety and performance of patient safety activities in hospitalized patients and to apply them systematically in clinical practice.

Results: 87.0% of the studies were quantitative studies. As for the method of sampling, 'No use' was the highest at 56.5%. Most of the participants in the study were 'nurses' (50.7%). 19 hospitals (35.8%) were the most common. The subjects of the study consisted of 35 (51.5%) patients' safety culture (awareness) and 20 (29.4%) 'safety nursing activities'. Conclusions: Patient safety and patient safety should be maintained. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perceived patient safety, type of errors related to patient safety, importance awareness and compliance on patient safety for operating room nurses and to identify factors influencing compliance. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from 191 perioperative nurses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, paired t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The perceived patient safety score was 6.3 as moderate level. Types of errors were mostly happened in patient injury (39.8%), counts (18.4%) and infection control (17.5%). The level of compliance on patient safety was significantly lower than that of importance awareness (t=18.01, P<.001). Compliance on patient safety showed significantly positive correlations to importance awareness (r=.56, p<.001). Experience of patient safety education, experience of errors in colleague, job position and working experience in hospital explained 13.9% of variance compliance on patient safety(F=8.407, P<.001). In conclusion, Hospital should develop education program related to patient safety, encourage nurses to manage safety protocol and ensure cultivating patient safety culture in the perioperative practice setting.

Purpose : The study was to promote patient safety by analyzing the effect of dental hygienist's perception of patient safety culture on infection control activities. Methods : The study is based on a survey of 210 dental hygienists in total working in dental settings. To find out infection control activities according to patient safety culture awareness, there were 6 general characteristics, 3 teamwork within the department, 2 infection control systems, 4 surface management, 9 equipment washing, disinfection, and laundry management, 4 infectious wastes, and 3 personal protection phrases. The data was analyzed using the SPSS version 20.0, and p<.05 was adopted to decide on significance. Results : The longer dental hygienists have worked n the dental settings, the more active they become in infection control activities. Among the different types of dental care settings, general (university) hospitals had the largest number of infection control activities, followed by dental clinics, and network dental clinics, in descending order. The dental settings possessing a higher number of dental hygienists were found to conduct more infection control activities than other dental settings. In addition, it was found that when a dental setting adopts a patient safety policy across all the units in the hospital, more systems and procedures for patient safety tend to be established, and that stricter management response to error leads to improvement of infection control activities. Conclusion :In order to enhance infection control activities, infection control activity programs should develop and implement periodic reinforcement of infection control education. regular monitoring of infection control activities.
