Purpose: This study examined the effects of changes in the intensity of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) on CorticoMuscular Coherence (CMC) during action observation. This paper presents a neurophysiological basis for the effective intensity of FES. Methods: Twenty-seven healthy volunteers were asked to observed a video with FES. The FES was provided with a sensory stimulation level, nerve stimulation level, and motor stimulation level. Simultaneously, an electroencephalogram (EEG) of the sensorimotor cortex and electromyogram (EMG) from the wrist extensor muscle were recorded. The peak CMC and average CMC were analyzed to compare the differences caused by the FES intensity. Results: The peak CMC showed a significant increase in the alpha band during motor stimulation (p<0.05). The average CMC showed a significant increase in the beta band during motor stimulation (p<0.05). Conclusion: The intensity of FES, which causes actual movement, increased the CMC during action observation. These results show that the intensity of the FES can affect the functional connection between the sensorimotor cortex and muscle.
Purpose: The application of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is beneficial for joint movements, inhibition of spasticity, and the improvement of walking ability in patients with chronic hemiplegia. This study aimed to identify the effect of the application of TENS to the knee extensor on the affected side with respect to postural-sway distance and velocity during the sit-to stand movement. Methods: We included 19 patients with post-stroke hemiplegia in this study. They underwent measurements during the sit-to stand movement on a force plate with 5 different stimulation dosages applied over 7 s:No TENS, high-frequency and high intensity TENS, high-frequency and low intensity TENS, low-frequency and high intensity TENS, and low-frequency and low intensity TENS The 5 different condition were administered in random order. Results: The group that received TENS application exhibited a significant decrease in path length and average velocity of center of pressure (COP) displacement compared with the group that did not receive TENS application. TENS dosage at low frequency (3Hz) and high intensity yielded a significant decrease in path length, average velocity, mediolateral distance and anteroposterior distance of COP displacement (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated the effectiveness of the application of low-frequency TENS on STS performance. These findings provide useful information on the application of TENS for the reduction of postural sway during the sit-to-stand movement after stroke.
In this study, nano-sized indium oxide powder with the average particle size below 100 nm is fab-ricated from the indium chloride solution by the spray pyrolysis process. The effects of the reaction temperature, the concentration of raw material solution and the inlet speed of solution on the properties of powder were studied. As the reaction temperature increased from 850 to $1000^{\circ}C$, the average particle size of produced powder increased from 30 to 100 nm, and microstructure became more solid, the particle size distribution was more irregular, the intensity of a XRD peak increased and specific surface area decreased. As the indium concentration of the raw material solution increased from 40 to 350 g/l, the average particle size of the powder gradually increased from 20 to 60 nm, yet the particle size distribution appeared more irregular, the intensity of a XRD peak increased and spe-cific surface area decreased. As the inlet speed of solution increased from 2 to 5 cc/min., the average particle size of the powder decreased and the particle size distribution became more homogeneous. In case of the inlet speed of 10 cc/min, the average particle size was larger and the particle size distribution was much irregular compared with the inlet speed of 5 cc/min. As the inlet speed of solution was 50 cc/min, the average particle size was smaller and microstructure of the powder was less solid compared with the inlet speed of 10 cc/min. The intensity of a XRD peak and the variation of specific area of the powder had the same tendency with the variation of the average par-ticle size.
In this study, by using tin chloride solution as a raw material, a nano-sized tin oxide powder with an average particle size below 50 nm is generated by a spray pyrolysis process. The properties of the generated tin oxide powder depending on the inflow speed of the raw material solution are examined. When the inflow speed of the raw material solution is 2 ml/min, the majority of generated particles appear in the shape of independent polygons with average size above 80-100 nm, while droplet-shaped particles show an average size of approximately 30 nm. When the inflow speed is increased to 5 ml/min, the ratio of independent particles decreases, and the average particle size is approximately 80-100 nm. When the inflow speed is increased to 20 ml/min, the ratio of droplet-shaped particles increases, whereas the ratio of independent particles with average size of 80-100 nm decreases. When the inflow speed is increased to 100 ml/min, the average size of the generated particles is around 30-40 nm, and most of them maintain a droplet shape. With a rise of inflow speed from 2 ml/min to 5 ml/min, a slight increase of the XRD peak intensity and a minor decrease of specific surface area are observed. When the inflow speed is increased to 20 ml/min, the XRD peak intensity falls dramatically, although a significant rise of specific surface area is observed. When the inflow speed is increased to 100 ml/min, the XRD peak intensity further decreases, while the specific surface area increases.
The cooling effects of botanical garden in urban are was investigated at Sungkyunwan University Natural Science Campus and nearby urban area during summer (20/06/2008-30/08/2008). Temperature and humidity data were observed, downloaded and analyzed. After observation single-family residential area (TNH) showed the highest air temperature while botanical garden (ARB) did the lowest one. UHI intensity between TNH and ARB was derived and investigated. The average UHI intensity was $1.5^{\circ}C$ while maximum UHI intensity was recorded at 21 : 20 by $2.29^{\circ}C$, and minimum UHI intensity at 09 : 20 by $0.45^{\circ}C$. Overall the average air temperature of botanical garden was lower to surrounding urban area by $0.5-1.5^{\circ}C$. So it was found out the botanical garden contributes to the cooling effect of the surrounding area as an urban cooling island.
Landslides generally occur due to influences of the internal and external factors. Internal factors include ground characteristics, terrain and so on. External factors can also be divided into natural factors such as rainfall, ground water, earthquake and so on, and artificial factors resulting from cutting and embankments. Among these factors, rainfall becomes the most important external factors by means of which landslides occur in Korea. To appropriately deal with tile effects of pore water pressures due to rainfall, the method using the pore water pressure ratio(r$\_$u/) is generally applied in slope stability analysis or the design of slope reinforcements. Since tire value of r,, is in general not constant over the whole cross section, in most slope stability analyses the average values are used with little loss in accuracy. However, determination of the average values of r$\_$u/ to applied in the design is difficult problem. Therefore, in this study, tile average values of r$\_$u/ according to the intensity of rainfall and slope inclination is suggested based on results of the small scaled model tests using the artificial rainfall apparatus. It is found from the model tests that the average values of r$\_$u/ is about 0.07∼0.18(in case of the intensity of rainfall is 50mm/hr.), about 0.10∼0.28(in case of the intensity of rainfall is 100mm/hr.), and about 0.10∼0.33(in case of the intensity of rainfall is 150mm/hr.).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to calculate the total daily nursing workload and the optimum number of nurses per intensive care unit (ICU) based on the nursing intensity and the direct nursing time per inpatient using the patient classification. Methods: Two ICUs at one general hospital were investigated. To calculate the nursing intensity, patient classification according to the nursing needs was conducted for 10 days in each unit during September 2018. We performed patient classifications for a total of 167 patient-days in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and 86 patient-days in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). The total number of person-days for nurses who responded to the Nursing Time survey was 151 for MICU and 85 for SICU. In each unit, direct and non-direct nursing hours, nursing intensity score, and direct nursing hours were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, and average calculated using Microsoft Excel. The amount of nursing workload and the optimum number of nurses were calculated according to the formula developed by the authors. Findings: For the MICU, the average direct nursing time per patient was 5.59 hours for Group 1, 6.98 hours for Group 2, and 9.28 hours for Group 3. For the SICU, the average direct nursing time per patient was 5.43 hours for Group 1, 7.21 hours for Group 2, 9.75 hours for Group 3, and 12.82 hours for Group 4. Practical Implications: This study confirmed that the appropriate number of nurses was not secured in the nursing unit of this study, and that leisure time such as meal time during nursing work hours was not properly guaranteed. The findings suggest that to create working environments where nurses can serve for extended periods of time without compromising their professional standards, hospitals should secure an appropriate number of nurses.

For 262 locations throughout the southern part of Korean peninsula, intensities of 13 December 1996 Yeongweol earthquake are estimated to make an isoseismal map and investigate attenuation properties in the southern part of Korea. Due to the inherent uncertainties in the estimation of intensities, obtained intensity map show quite scattered pattern of intensity distribution. Estimated intensities range from III to possibly Ⅷ. In case of intensity larger than Ⅵ, considerable damages such as fracturing of walls are reported one of the most significant feature of the intensity map is, considering its magnitude 4.7 reported by KMA, the felt area is appeared to be unusually large covering most of the Korean peninsula except Cheju island. This result indicates ether the magnitude is underestimated or the focus of this earthquake is much deeper. Assuming shallow(less than 10km) intraplate earthquake, we obtained average magnitude 5.6 by using the area encircled by isoseismal contour lines from intensity IV to intensity Ⅶ. This ambiguity can be clarified if more reliable focal depth is estimated by using teleseismic earthquake records in the future.
