공동크리깅 모형을 활용한 일반국도 연평균 일교통량 추정 (Annual Average Daily Traffic Estimation using Co-kriging)

  • 연평균 일교통량(AADT)은 교통 및 도로부문에서 중요한 기초자료로 활용되지만 예산 제약 등의 한계로 인해 일부 지점에 대해서만 상시조사를 통해서 AADT를 산출하고 있으며, 대다수의 지점에서는 단기 교통량 조사에서 수집된 샘플자료를 이용하여 AADT를 추정 활용하고 있다. 현재 단기 교통량 조사지점의 AADT 추정을 위하여 조사된 자료를 단순 평균하는 방법이 적용되고 있다. 기존 AADT 추정모형은 보정계수를 적용하는 방법이 대표적인 방법이나, 이 방법은 단기 교통량 조사 지점이 어떤 상시조사 지점의 보정계수를 적용할지에 대한 객관적인 방법이 없어 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공간통계모형을 도입하여 교통량 자료의 공간상관관계를 분석하고, 크리깅 모형을 적용하여 AADT를 추정하는 방법에 대하여 알아보았다. 공간통계모형의 AADT 추정의 정확도를 기존 연구와 비교하기 위하여 동일 대구간의 상시조사 지점의 보정계수를 적용하는 방법(방법 1)과 보정계수 그룹핑을 이용하여 해당 그룹의 보정계수를 적용하는 방법(방법 2), 공동크리깅을 적용한 방법(방법 3)을 비교분석하였다. 분석결과 공동크리깅을 적용한 모형은 기존 모형에 비해 AADT 추정 정확도가 향상되는 것으로 나타났다.

Mobile Application based on Image Processing and a Proportion for Food Intake Measuring

  • In the paper, we propose a new reliable technique for measuring food intake based on image automatically without user intervention. First, food and bowl image before and after meal is obtained by user. The food and the bowl are divided into each region by the K-means clustering, Otsu algorithm, Morphology, etc. And the volume of food is measured by a proportional expression based on the information of the container such as it's entrance diameter, depth, and bottom diameter. Finally, our method calculates the volume of the consumed food by the difference between before and after meal. The proposed technique has higher accuracy than existing method for measuring food intake automatically. The experiment result shows that the average error rate is up to 7% for three types of containers. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm is a convenient and accurate method of measuring the food intake.

16 채널 Multi-detector 컴퓨터 단층촬영과 심초음파를 이용한 좌심실 용적과 기능의 비교 (Comparison of Left Ventricular Volume and Function between 46 Channel Multi-detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) and Echocardiography)

  • 배경: 좌심실 기능의 평가는 대개 심초음파를 이용하여 시행되고 있으나, 최근 개발된 16채널 Multi-detector 컴퓨터 단층촬영(MDCT)은 관상동맥에 대한 평가뿐만 아니라 좌심실 기능의 측정이 가능하다. 따라서 MDCT를 이용한 측정결과를 심초음파 결과와 비교분석하여 MDCT의 좌심실 기능 평가에 대한 임상적 적용 가능성을 조사해 보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2003년 11월 1일부터 2005년 1월 31일까지 본원에서 MDCT를 시행한 49명의 환자중 동일시기에 심초음파를 시행한 26명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 이완기말 좌심실 용적지수(LVEDVI), 수축기말 좌심실 용적지수(LVESVI), 심박출량지수(SVI), 좌심실 부피지수(LVMI) 및 심박출계수(EF)를 조사하였다. 결과: 평균이완기말 좌심실 용적지수($80.86{\pm}34.69mL$ for MDCT vs $60.23{\pm}29.06mL$ for Echocardiography, p<0.01), 평균수축기말 좌심실 용적지수($37.96{\pm}24.32mL$ for MDCT vs $25.68{\pm}16.57ml$ for Echocardiography, p<0.01), 평균심박출량지수($42.90{\pm}15.86mL$ for MDCT vs $34.54{\pm}17.94mL$ for Echocardiography, p<0.01), 평균좌심실 부피지수($72.14{\pm}25.35mL$ for MDCT vs $130.35{\pm}53.10mL$ for Echocardiography, p<0.01) 및 평균심박출계수($55.63{\pm}12.91mL$ for MDCT vs $59.95{\pm}12.75mL$ for Echocardiography, p<0.05)로 양군간에 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 평균이완기말 좌심실 용적지수, 평균수축기말 좌심실 용적지수, 평균심박출량지수는 MDCT군이 높게 나타났으며, 평균좌심실 부피지수, 평균심박출계수는 심초음파군이 높게 나타났다. 각 변수에서 양군의 상관관계를 보면, 이완기말 좌심실 용적지수$(r^2=0.74,\;p<0.0001)$, 수축기말 좌심실 용적지수$(r^2=0.69,\; p<0.0001)$, 심박출량지수$(r^2=0.55,\;p<0.0001)$는 높은 상관관계를 보였으며, 좌심실 부피지수$(r^2=0.84,\;p<0.0001)$는 아주 높은 상관관계를, 심박출계수$(r^2=0.45,\;p<0.0002)$는 다소 높은 상관관계를 나타내었다. 결론: 16채널 MDCT를 이용한 좌심실 용적 및 기능의 평가는 심초음파의 결과와 비교하여 높은 상관관계를 보여 유용한 검사방법으로 생각된다 그러나, 각 항목의 평균값에서는 유의한 차이를 보여 임상적 적용을 위하여는 양 검사의 절대적 결과치를 병용하여 사용할 수는 없을 것으로 생각되며, 향후 MDCT의 기술적 개발을 고려할 때 관상동맥 환자에 있어 관상동맥의 협착의 검사와 함께 좌심실 기능의 측정도 함께 간편하게 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

DETERMINATION OF TRANSIENT WEAR DISTANCE IN THE ADHESIVE WEAR OF A6061 ALUMINIUM ALLOY REINFORCED WITH ALUMINA PARTICLES

  • An integrated adhesive wear model was proposed to determine the transient wear and steady-state wear of aluminium alloy matrix composites. The transient wear volume was described by an exponential equation, while the steady-state wear was governed by a revised Archard equation, in which both the transient wear volume and transient sliding distance were excluded. A mathematical method was developed to determine both the transient distance and the net steady-state wear coefficient. Experimental wear tests were carried out on three types of commercial A6061 aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with 10%, 15% and 20% alumina particles. More accurate wear coefficient values were obtained with the proposed model. The average standard wear coefficient, as determined by the original Archard equation, was found to be about 51% higher.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of a brushless DC motor(BLDC) keeping the average torque and cogging torque of the initial model while minimizing the volume of magnet pole by FEM and evolution strategy. Experimental tests are performed by the finite element method(FEM), and the random based evolution strategy is applied for the shape optimization. The optimal result shows a largely reduced volume of magnet pole.

  • This study developed SiC/Al composites for electronic packaging to which reinforcements were added with the volume fractions of 49%, 56% and 63% by the squeeze casting method. 0.8 wt.% of the inorganic binder as well as the $Al_2O_3$ fiber and SiC particles with the volume fraction of 1:10 were added to the SiC/Al composites For the produced SiC/Al composites, the CTEs (coefficients of thermal expansion) were measured from 30 to $300^{\circ}C$ and compared with the FEM numerical simulation to analyze the temperature dependent properties. The experiment showed the CTEs of SiC/Al composites that were intermediate values of those of Rule of Mixture and Turner's Model. The CTEs were close to Turner's Model in the room temperature and approached the Rule of Mixture as the temperature increases. These properties analyzed from the difference of the average stress acting between the matrix and the reinforcements proposed in this study

대기부유분진중 Pb와 가로수잎중 Pb와의 상관성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Correlation between Lead in Airborne Suspended Particulates and Leaves of Roadside Trees in Urban Area)

  • In order to evaluate the state of the environmental pollution by vehicle exhaust in Seoul area the correlation between lead in air and leaves of roadside trees has been investigated during August in 1985. The dust in the atmosphere was collected by high volume air sampler to measure the concentration of lead. On the other hand, lead as a pollution indicator was extracted from the leaves of roadside trees (Ginkgo biloba, Salix pseudo/lasiogyne, platanus occidentalis) by conventional method and their concentrations were determined. The following results were obtained : 1. Lead concentrations in the leaves of roadside trees varied with trees, for example, the average concentrations of lead in each of the leaves of Ginkgo biloba, Salix pseudo/lasiogyne and Platanus occidentalis were 20.66 ppm, 9.37 ppm, and 10.58 ppm, respectively. 2. The dust sampled along heavily traveled highways showed that lead content tended to increase with traffic volume. 3. The correlation coefficients between lead correlation in air and leaves of Gingo biloba, Salix pseudo/lasiogyne, and Platanus orientalis were 0.80, 0.85, and 0.87, respectively.

  • Urine analysis is one of the most important medical examination in the hospital. Not only the data for the ingredients of urine through chemical analysis, but also the data related to fluid dynamics, e.g., peak flow rate, average flow rate, may provide some useful information about patient's state of health. Therefore, we develop the portable system to measure and analyse fluid volume/flow rate in this study. This system can store and print the measured data during the pre-specified time interval, and provide some meaningful data related with fluid dynamics. We explain the method and the technical stuff to implement the system, and show the result.

Development of safety-Based Guidelines for Cost-Effective Utility Pole Treatment along Highway Rights-of-Way

  • This study was conducted to develop a methodology to predict utility pole accident rates and to evaluate cost-effectiveness for safety improvement for utility pole accidents. The utility pole accident rate prediction model was based on the encroachment rate approach introduced in the Transportation Research Board Special Report 214. The utility pole accident rate on a section of highway depends on the roadside encroachment rate and the lateral extent of encroachment. The encroachment rate is influenced by the horizontal and vertical alignment of the highway as well as traffic volume and mean speed. The lateral extent of encroachment is affected by the horizontal and vertical alignment, the mean speed and the roadside slope. An analytical method to generate the probability distribution function for the lateral extent of encroachment was developed for six kinds of encroachment types by the horizontal alignment and encroachment direction. The encroachment rate was calibrated with the information on highway and roadside conditions and the utility pole accident records collected on the sections of 55mph speed limit of the State Trunk Highway 12 in Wisconsin. The encroachment rate on a tangent segment was calibrated as a function of traffic volume with the actual average utility pole accident rates by traffic volume strategies. The adjustment factors for horizontal and vertical alignment were then derived by comparing the actual average utility pole accident rates to the estimations from the model calibrated for tangent and level sections. A computerized benefit-cost analysis procedure was then developed as a means of evaluating alternative countermeasures. The program calculates the benefit-cost ratio and the percent of reduction of utility pole accidents resulting from the implementation of a safety improvement. This program can be used to develop safety improvement: alternatives for utility pole accidents when a predetermined performance level is specified.

EPB tunneling in cohesionless soils: A study on Tabriz Metro settlements

  • A case study of monitoring and analysis of surface settlement induced by tunneling of Tabriz metro line 2 (TML2) is presented in this paper. The TML2 single tunnel has been excavated using earth pressure balanced TBM with a cutting-wheel diameter of 9.49 m since 2015. Presented measurements of surface settlements, were collected during the construction of western part of the project (between west depot and S02 station) where the tunnel was being excavated in sand and silt, below the water table and at an average axis depth of about 16 m. Settlement readings were back-analyzed using Gaussian formula, both in longitudinal and transversal directions, in order to estimate volume loss and settlement trough width factor. In addition to settlements, face support and tail grouting pressures were monitored, providing a comprehensive description of the EPB performance. Using the gap model, volume loss prediction was carried out. Also, COB empirical method for determination of the face pressure was employed in order to compare with field monitored data. Likewise, FE simulation was used in various sections employing the code Simulia ABAQUS, to investigate the efficiency of numerical modelling for the estimating of the tunneling induced-surface settlements under such a geotechnical condition. In this regard, the main aspects of a mechanized excavation were simulated. For the studied sections, numerical simulation is not capable of reproducing the high values of in-situ-measured surface settlements, applying Mohr-Coulomb constitutive law for soil. Based on results, for the mentioned case study, the range of estimated volume loss mostly varies from 0.2% to 0.7%, having an average value of 0.45%.
