In this paper, we propose a new construction algorithm for the reversible variable-length code (RVLC) using a simplified average length function of the optimal Huffman code. RVLC is introduced as one of the error resilience tools in H.263+ and MPEG-4 owing to its error-correcting capability. The proposed algorithm demonstrates an improved performance in terms of the average codeword length over the existing HVLC algorithms.
Objectives: In this study, we tried to analyze the factors affecting Length Of Stay for serious patients in Republic of Korea. Methods: The study included 139,172 serious patients in the 2012-2016 discharge details. Using the SPSS 23.0 program, we conducted a rank regression analysis with social and social demographic characteristics as control variables, medical institution characteristics and medical use characteristics as independent variables, and Average Length Of Stay as a dependent variable. Results: Average Length Of Stay for participants was found to be 9.92days. And the location and bed size of medical institutions were not statistically significant, the hospitalization path was more urgent(B=0.43) than the outpatient (p<0.001), and there was no secondary diagnosis(B=0.35). However, Average Length Of Stay was higher (p<0.001) than there was no main surgery(B=0.80). After discharge, Average Length Of Stay for funding(B=0.43) and death(B=0.72) was long (p<0.001). Average Length Of Stay for participants was found to be 9.92days. And the location and the bed size of the medical institution were not statistically significant, and the hospitalization pass had longer Length Of Stay for emergency patients(B=0.43) than for outpatients(p<0.001). There was a longer Length Of Stay(B=0.35) than none was diagnosed. There were longer Length Of Stay(p<0.001) than there was no major surgery(B=0.80). After discharge, the outpatients had longer Average Length Of Stay(B=0.43) and deaths(B=0.72) than those who returned home(p<0.001). Conclusion: As a result of analyzing the factors affecting Average Length Of Stay of the participants, it was confirmed that regardless of the location and bed size of medical institutions, hospitalization route, department diagnosis, main surgery, and whereabouts after discharge. Therefore, appropriate interventions and necessary support must be provided so that efficient Length Of Stay can be managed according to the medical use characteristics of serious patient.
For the preparation of short ceramic fibers of which average length might be in accordance with the opening size of sieve, e.g., 150${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ or 300${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, bulk fibers were grounded on sieve screen by applying both compressing and shearing force, and passed through the sieve screen. The grounded fibers were subjected to gravitational settling processes. The classified fibers were observed by scanning electron microscopy and the length of each fiber was measured to correlate the average length with the opening size of the sieve used for grinding bulk fibers. Theoretical analysis show that a free settling technique is ineffective for the classification of fibers by length compared with that of particles. The average lengths of classified fibers estimated by scanning electron microscopy were in good agreement with those obtained by relative packing volume of the fibers. Accordingly, it is confirmed that average fiber lengths can be determined from bulk volume data without photographing, counting and averaging results for hundreds of fibers.
This study was conducted in order to determine width, length of lung by radiographic method. The measurements carried out on normal chest X-ray film of 1,036 persons who took the radiograph from the April of 1977 to the June of 1978. As a result of this study, the following conclusions were obtained: 1. In the case of male, the average width, and length of both side lung size from new birth to nineteen of age was larger than female with the exception of partly age group. 2. Lung size in average width at adult was from 27.60cm to 29.20cm and female was 25.10cm to 26.22cm. 3. The mean length of left lung at adult was from 26.32cm to 25.27cm in female. 4. The average length of right lung at adult was from 25.8cm to 28.35cm in male and female was from 24.86cm to 25.17cm. 5. It was found that lung sige in width and length was slightly increased until 39 years of age, but was trend to decrease it of lung in the age of 40 years old. 6. In the case of adult, the difference of the average length between right and left lung, the length of right lung was slightly shorter than left that.
The women's apparel sizing system, currently used in the Korean industry, does not reflect measurement differences associated with varying body types and age. Forty five body meaqsurements were taken on 560 subjects, whoes eages ranged from 18-24. STatistical analysis of the data was coducted by using frequences, crosstables, correlation, oneway ANOVA, Regressio analysis. The results of this study were as follow. 1. Average height of women in their early 20's is 160cm, average bust girth 82cm, average hip girth 90cm and average drop 809. The correlation between height and grth items were low and the correlation of length items in the superior and inferior body were shown to bo high respectively. 2. The average Rhrer index is 1.28 and they ussually seem to be in the thin and standard body group. 3. body types were divided by differences between hip and bust sizes. N type(medium hip), A type (large hip), H type(small hip). A classification by body type showed that N type made up 58% while a type made up 24%. 4. The garment sizes for women in their early 20's were developed. 5. The new basic blocks and garment sizes for women in their early 20's were developed as follows : Bust girth (1/2) = 76N, 76A, 79A type($\frac{1}{2}$B+ 4cm) 79N type($\frac{1}{2}$B+ 3.5cm) 82N, 85N type ($\frac{1}{2}$B +3cm) Hip girth($\frac{1}{2}$) =N type($\frac{1}{2}$H + 2~2.5cm) Atype($\frac{1}{2}$H +1.5~2cm) Waist girth($\frac{1}{2}$)=$\frac{1}{2}$W + 2-3cm Back length =extimated measure -0.5cm Front length=76A, N (Back length + 2.2cm) 79A, N(back length +2.7cm) 82N(Back length +3.2cm) 85N(Back length + 3.7cm) Sleeve length=Sleeve length +3cm.
135 and 136 pine cones were sampled from age class of II to VI Korean pine trees for the study of their physical properties in 1991 and 1992, respectively. The length, width, weight, volume, and the largest projected area of cones were measured, and the specific gravity, apparent volume ratio sphericity, and roundness were calculated. Regression analysis were performed for the weight, volume, and projected area to the cone length and width. The length, and major and minor diameters of the cone stalks were measured and analyzed. 1. The range of the length of cone stalks was 0 to 47.3mm. The average length of stalks were 9mm ('91) and 10mm('92), respectively. Cross section of the stalks was ellipse with average major and minor diameters of 9.1mm and 10.1mm, and 8.6 and 8.7mm in 91 and 92, respectively. 2. The length of pine cones distributed from 8cm to 17cm and the average length were about 13cm('91, '92). The width varied from 5cm to 9.5cm and the average width were 6.7cm('91) and 6.9cm('92). The ratios of the length to the width were 0.56('91) and 0.65('91) and the shape of the cones were found to be ellipse with minor diameter of 1/2 to 2/3 of the major diameter. 3. The roundnesses and sphericity of cones were 0.74 and 0.75('91), 0.63 and 0.67('92), respectively. The average of the largest projected area of cones were $85.3cm^2$('91) and $93.1cm^2$('92) and the criterion areas were $71.0cm^2$ and $74.5cm^2$, respectively. 4. Cone weights were from 83g to 467g('91 and '92) and averages were 186g('91) and 220g('92). The average specific gravities were 0.89 and 0.96('91 and '92). The true volumes were $212cm^2$('91) and $230cm^2$('92), and the average bulk volume was $321cm^2$('91, '92). The average apparent volume ratios of cones were 35% ('91) and 28% ('92), respectively. 5. The weight and the volume were proportional to the length of the cone multiplied by the width squred and the largest projected area was proportional to the length multiplied by the width of cones.
Background: The average hospital stay in most Korean teaching hospitals is longer than that of hospitals in developed countries. The investigation of average hospital stay of teaching hospitals is considered as an important measure to evaluate the effectiveness of hospital management. In this article authors analyzed the relationship of several variables (hospital ownership, number of beds, location of hospitals, number of physician) to length of hospital stay in each clinical department. Methods: The average hospital stay of each clinical department of 184 teaching hospitals was investigated. Authors reviewed the papers of teaching hospitals, that was reported to the Korean Association of Hospitals. Results: The means of hospital stay day of hospitals were not significantly different according to the number of hospital beds and location of hospitals. Only the difference of hospital stay according to ownerships was significant. The length of stay was the highest in public hospitals and the lowest in juridical hospitals. Conclusions: The number of beds and location of hospitals were not associated with the average hospital stay. But ownerships affected the average hospital stay. The national or public hospitals had the longest length of hospital stay. Number of specialists and number of all physicians were closely related to the average hospital stay.
The present studies were designed to investigate the morphology and stainability of the chicken spermatozoa. Semen samples were collected by abdominal massage from 10 cocks of Arbor, Acres strain (egg breed) and 10 cocks of white Cornish strain (meat breed). The semen samples were diluted with Sarker's solution and were washed. Some of the semen smear slides were stained with seven differential stain methods and was compared with one another by light microscope. In addition to the staining already compared, the length of heads, middle pieces and tails of 400 spermatozoa of two chicken breed was measured with micrometer. The results obtained from these, studies were as follows: 1. Eosin stain appeared to give good results than hematoxylin, pre-treated protease and eosin or hematoxylin stain, pre-treated protease and hematoxylin-eosin stain, carbol-fuchsin, stain and Giemsa 9 technique in differential staining of spermatozoal three portions and pre-treated protease and eosin stain appeared as good staining methods for middle piece of spermatozoa. 2. The average length of chicken spermatozoa was $90.4{\pm}4.0{\mu}m$, and the average length of the head, middle piece and tail of spermatozoa was $13.0{\pm}0.5{\mu}m$, $3.8{\pm}0.2{\mu}m$ and $73.6{\pm}3.8{\mu}m$ lesoectively. 3. The average length of spermatozoa of Arbor Acres strain was $89.2{\pm}5.0{\mu}m$ and the average length of the head, middle piece and tail of spermatozoa was $12.9{\pm}0.5{\mu}m$, $3.8{\pm}0.2{\mu}m$ and $72.5{\pm}4.7{\mu}m$ respectively. The average length of spermatozoa of with Cornish was $91.6{\pm}3.0{\mu}m$ and the average length of the head, middle piece and tail of spermatozoa was $13.1{\pm}0.5{\mu}m$, $3.8{\pm}0.2{\mu}m$ and $74.7{\pm}2.8{\mu}m$ respectively.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the lower body size and forms of married women in their thirties who have experienced pregnancy and parturition. Their measurements derived from the direct anthropometry and indirect photographic measures were compared to those of 20's. Improving consumer satisfaction for missy brand, especially in fitness of skirt and pants, some lower body classification were presented. The results were as follows : 1. The characteristics of lower body showed many differences by individuals especially in depth, girth, length and angle measures rather than height and breadth measures. Many items including index, calculations and angles revealed significant differences compared to those of 20's. Several breadth items, crotch length had distinct increase than those of women in twenties. Flattened buttocks side silhouette from waist to hip, buttocks drooping and decrease of inclination implied the influence of pregnancy, parturition and aging. 2. We hardly find out sizing system differences between missy brand and miss brand. Based on waist and hip girth measurements of subjects, sizing system of missy apparel wasn't suitable for their body size. Excessive drop(hip girth-waist girth) of missy brands, 25~30 cm, was almost the same to the drop of miss brands. 3. To improve the size satisfaction of missy women, we classified the lower body into 5 types according to drop, buttocks angle and hip length. Type 1 was small waist with large buttocks projection, and hip length was close to an average. Type 2 was small waist with medium buttocks projection, and the hip length was close to an average. Type 3 was medium waist, with average projection of the buttocks and hip length. Type 4 was large waist, projection of the buttocks and the hip length were close to an average. Type 5 was large waist, projection of the buttocks was small and the hip length was close to an average.
To clarify the relationship between the medical supply(medical persons and goods) and the use of bed, the author has made comparison among OECD 24 countries. Per Capita Bed-days can be divided into Average Length of Stay and Admission Rate, and these three variables were regressed upon both In-patient Care Beds of all medical institutions including acute somatic, psychiatric, special, nursing homes and other long-term care and Share of Total Health Employment in Total Employment. The result of regression analysis shows a statistically significant positive relationship between In-patient Care Beds and Average Length of Stay, and negative relationship between Share of Total Health Employment and Admission Rate. In addition to Ordinary Least Square(OLS) estimation, amended Bounded Influence Estimation(BIE) was also made to adjust the influence of outliers. Japan shows a very large number of In-patient Care Beds and a very low Share of Total Health Employment, and this medical situation is judged to have close relation to her long Average Length of Stay and low Admission Rate.
