  • Recently, various studies have been conducted to apply deep learning and AI to various fields of autonomous driving, such as recognition, sensor processing, decision-making, and control. This paper proposes a controller applicable to path following, static obstacle avoidance, and pedestrian avoidance situations by utilizing reinforcement learning in autonomous vehicles. For repetitive driving simulation, a reinforcement learning environment was constructed using virtual environments. After learning path following scenarios, we compared control performance with Pure-Pursuit controllers and Stanley controllers, which are widely used due to their good performance and simplicity. Based on the test case of the KNCAP test and assessment protocol, autonomous emergency steering scenarios and autonomous emergency braking scenarios were created and used for learning. Experimental results from zero collisions demonstrated that the reinforcement learning controller was successful in the stationary obstacle avoidance scenario and pedestrian collision scenario under a given condition.

  • Autonomous Underwater Vehicles(AUVs) have become an important tool for various purposes in subsea: inspection, recovery, construction, etc., and the development of autonomous control system is luglay desirable- thete zffe many problems associated with designing the control system for AUV due to unknown underwater envimn-Tnent, the possibility of subsystem failures, and unpredictable changes in the dynamics of the vehicle. In this paper, an autonomous control system based on the intelligent control theory to enhance operation efficiency of the ALTV is presented. The control system has a hierarchical structure which consists of mission planning level, mission control level, navigation level, and execution level. The performance of the control system is investigated by computer simulation. The results show that the proposed control system can be applied successfully to the AUV in spite of the possibility of failures in the vehicle and the collision hazard in the sea environment.

  • Space systems are operating in a changing and uncertain space environment and are desired to have autonomous capability for long periods of time without frequent telecommunications from the ground station At the same time. requirements for new set of projects/systems calling for ""autonomous"" operations for long unattended periods of time are emerging. Since, by the nature of space systems, it is desired that they perform their mission flawlessly and also it is of extreme importance to have fault-tolerant sensor/actuator sub-systems for the purpose of validating science measurement data for the mission success. Technology innovations attendant on autonomous data validation and health monitoring are articulated for a growing class of autonomous operations of space systems. The greatest need is on focus research effort to the development of a new class of fault-tolerant space systems such as attitude actuators and sensors as well as validation of measurement data from scientific instruments. The characterization for the next step in evolving the existing control processes to an autonomous posture is to embed intelligence into actively control. modify parameters and select sensor/actuator subsystems based on statistical parameters of the measurement errors in real-time. This research focuses on the identification/demonstration of critical technology innovations that will be applied to Autonomous Spacecraft Health Monitoring/Data Validation Control Systems (ASHMDVCS). Systems (ASHMDVCS).

  • This paper proposes a remote control system that combines computer network and an autonomous mobile robot. We control remotely an autonomous mobile robot with vision via the internet to guide it under unknown environments in the real time. The main feature of this system is that local operators need a World Wide Web browser and a computer connected to the internet communication network and so they can command the robot in a remote location through our Home Page. The hardware architecture of this system consists of an autonomous mobile robot, workstation, and local computers. The software architecture of this system includes the server part for communication between user and robot and the client part for the user interface and a robot control system. The server and client parts are developed using Java language which is suitable to internet application and supports multi-platform. Furthermore, this system offers an image compression method using motion JPEG concept which reduces large time delay that occurs in network during image transmission.

  • In this paper, a steering control system for the path tracking of autonomous vehicles is described. The steering control system consists of a path tracker and primitive driver. The path tracker generates the desired steering angle by using the look-ahead distance, vehicle heading, and a lateral offset. A method for applying an autonomous vehicle to path tracking is an advanced pure pursuit method that can reduce cutting corners, which is a weakness of the pure pursuit method. The steering controller controls the steering actuator to follow the desired steering angle. A servo motor is installed to control the steering handle, and it can transmit the steering force using a belt and pulley. We designed a steering controller that is applied to a proportional integral differential controller. However, because of a dead band, the path tracking performance and stability of autonomous vehicles are reduced. To overcome the dead band, a dead band compensator was developed. As a result of the compensator, the path tracking performance and stability are improved.

  • This paper deals with the control of autonomous vehicle in the production systems. Presently, there is a significant interest in autonomous vehicles which are capable of intelligent motion (and action) without requiring a guide track to follow. This paper describes a PI-F adaptive control algorithm, which is used to drive an experimental autonomous vehicle along a given trajectory. The simulation results characterizing the accuracy og the algorithm are presented.

  • In this paper, an intelligent force control technique is applied to an autonomous helicopter. Although most research on the autonomous helicopter system is about navigation and control, force control of an autonomous helicopter system is quite new and not presented yet. After controlling the position of the helicopter by the LQR method, force control is applied. The adaptive impedance force control algorithm is introduced and tested to regulate the desired force under unknown location and stiffness of the environment. To compensate for uncertainty from outer disturbance, a neural network is added to form an intelligent force control framework. Simulation studies show that the proposed force control algorithm works well.
