디지털공장을 이용한 자동차 조립공장의 자재계획 및 정보관리 (Material Planning and Information Management for Automotive General Assembly using Digital Factory)

  • To ensure competitiveness in the modern automotive market, material arrangements and information managements should be performed concurrently with new car developments. In automotive general assembly shops, thus, new business workflow and supporting environments are inevitable to reduce the manufacturing preparation time in developing a new car in the manner of concurrent and collaborative engineering. Since complete material arrangements for a whole general assembly system is a huge and complex job, several planners should execute their planning jobs and share information. Therefore, each planner should provide others with his/her results with continuous on-line communication and cooperation. Digital automotive general assembly factory is useful the performing concurrent and collaborative engineering and is essential for material arrangements and information managements systems. In this research, we constructed a sophisticated digital factory of an automotive general assembly shop by measuring and modeling through the parametric 3-D CAD, and a web-based system for concurrent and collaborative material arrangements for automotive general assembly via 3D mock-up is developed. By the digital general assembly shop and developed web-based system, savings in time and colt of manufacturing preparation activities are possible, and the reliability of the planning result Is greatly improved.

  • Implementing flexible production systems in domestic and foreign automotive design parts assembly has increased demand for automation and power reduction. Consequently, transition to a hybrid production method is observed where multiple vehicles are assembled in a single assembly line. Multiple robots, 3D vision sensors, mounting positions, and correction software have complex configurations in the automotive glass mounting system. Hence, automation is required owing to significant difficulty in the assembly process of automobile parts. This study presents a primer lighting and inspection algorithm that is robust to the assembly environment of real automotive design parts using high power 'ㄷ'-shaped LED inclined lighting. Furthermore, a 2D camera was developed in the primer coating inspection system-the core technology of the glass mounting system. A primer application demo line applicable to the actual automobile production line was established using the proposed high power lighting and algorithm. Furthermore, application inspection performance was verified using this demo system. Experimental results verified that the performance of the proposed system exceeded the level required to satisfy the automobile requirements.

  • Nowadays, the increasing global competition forces manufacturing enterprises to apply new technologies such as laser welding to manufacturing of their products. In case of automotive industries, they interest in assembly system for BIW (Body in White) carrying out laser welding. In this paper, the method of implementation for digital laser welding assembly system is proposed. Based on the requirements of assembly tasks obtained through product analysis, process modeling is executed by using the IDEF0 and UML model. For digital assembly system, the selected components are modeled by using 3D CAD tools. According to the system configuration strategy, lots of the alternative solutions for the assembly system of welding side panels are generated. Finally, the optimal laser welding system is chosen by the evaluation of the alternative solutions with TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method.

  • 최근 자동차산업에서의 시장의 세계화와 증가하는 고객의 까다로운 욕구는 다양한 제품의 증가와 제조업체가 공급해야 하는 생산라인의 다양한 방식의 증가로 이어지게 되었다. 또한, 자동차 생산시스템의 모듈화는 자동차부품 공급업체들의 생산시스템에도 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 이러한 변화는 혼합형 모델 조립라인이라 불리는 비용 효율적이고 유연한 생산시스템의 구현을 요구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 혼합형 모델 조립에서 발생하는 여러 문제점들과 이러한 조립오류를 방지할 수 있는 기술에 대해 살펴보고, 혼합형 모델 자동차부품 조립라인에서 RFID를 이용한 오류방지 모니터링시스템을 개발하였다. 특히, 자동차부품 조립현장에서 일어나는 부품의 잘못된 설치와 누락과 같은 문제점들을 최소화하기 위하여 RFID를 이용한 모니터링시스템을 개발함으로써 문제점을 해결하고 조립오류를 예방하여 기존의 시스템을 보완하고자 하였다.

  • To maintain competitiveness in the modern automotive market, it is important to carry out process planning concurrently with new car development processes. Process planners need to make decisions concurrently and collaboratively in order to reduce manufacturing preparation time for developing a new car. Automated generation of a simulation model by using the integrated process plan database can reduce time consumed for carrying out a simulation and allow a consistent model to be used throughout. In this research, we developed a web-based system for concurrent and collaborative process planning and flow analysis for an automotive general assembly using web, database, and simulation technology. A single integrated database is designed to automatically generate simulation models from process plans without having to rework the data. This system enables process planners to evaluate their decisions quickly, considering various factors, and easily share their opinions with others. By using this collaborative system, time and cost put into the assembly process planning can be reduced and the reliability of the process plan would be improved.

  • An automotive air conditioning assembly consists of a condenser, a compressor and an evaporator. These major components are connected with rubber hoses and aluminum pipes. Once mounted on the automotive air conditioning assembly, it is exposed to a serious vibration environment for a long time. In some cases, there are vibration cracking on the assembly. In order to solve this vibration problem, several real vibration tests are performed on the assembly of which the lay-out was optimized, in spite of sample production cost and making time. In this study, a frequency response analysis, which is a kind of finite element method of the vibration, was performed to know the characteristic of the vibration transmission on the assembly lay-out. The analysis result indicated the damping performance, which is satisfied with the vibration standard of car maker, in rubber hoses and the whole assembly.

  • Among many automotive manufacturing processes, an assembly process has the smallest automatization percentage. As the correct assembly of the supplied components according to its specification is directly related with the quality of the final product, it is of the utmost importance to reduce the possible human errors in the assembly line. However, due to the lack of an effective verification system for an assembly line, currently, there is huge cost loss caused by the errors in seat assembly every year. Therefore, in this paper, to overcome the limit of the current verification method and to prevent the occurrence of assembly errors caused by mismatching assembling components or its specifications, a verification system and its method is proposed employing the RFID technology. The system is for automatic detection of the assembly errors, so that it can reduce the time and effort needed for verification and maximize the work efficiency. Also, by preventing the assembly errors in advance, the productivity can be increased through a quality innovation.

  • To achieve rapid new car developments and cost saving, new approaches for automotive general assembly in manufacturing preparations are needed. In this paper, CAD and DMU technologies for design and evaluation of machines and equipments are discussed. Digital Mock-up based on 3-D CAD models usually apply in the area of concept design and design review. We focus on manufacturing preparations of the machine and equipment. Detail procedures, examples and considerations of DMU are suggested in this paper. By applying DMU in the manufacturing preparations of general assembly, time, cost and quality of engineering can be enhanced through engineering collaboration.
