후륜구동 자동차용 일체형 복합재료 동력전달축의 설계 (Design of One-piece Composite Propeller Shaft for a Rear Wheel Drive Automobile)

  • Substituting composite structures for conventional metallic structures has many advantages because of higher specific stiffness and specific strength of composite materials. In this work, one-piece propeller shafts composed of carbon/epoxy composite and glass/epoxy one were designed and manufactured for a rear wheel drive automobile, which uses generally a steel two-piece propeller shaft. From the tests of the composite propeller shafts, it was found that the propeller shafts satisfied requirements of static torque transmission capability, torsional buckling capability and the first natural bending frequency and had 40% weight saving effect compared with steel propeller shaft.

  • An important class of short-fiber reinforced composites is the sheet molding compound, which is recently developed and currently used in many engineering applications. Fatigue failure of the composites is a subject of major concern in design and cyclic crack propagation is of particular significance in the fatigue life prediction of short fiber composites. However, research on the fatigue behavior of polymer injection weld, especially short glass fiber-filled polymer injection weld, has not been carried out. In this study the analyses of the fatigue crack growth behaviors at weld line and in the bulk are performed based on low cycle fatigue test.

단일 슬리브 모노폴을 이용한 차량용 와이퍼 안테나의 개발 (Development of Wiper Antenna for Automobile using Single Sleeve Monopole)

  • The pole antenna of vehicles for AM/FM radio broadcasting receptions has many probems, such as damageable mechanical system and noise etc. It is considered that noise is composed of the structural vibration noise and the air flow induced aerodynamic noise. Also we find out that the setting process of a printed on-glass automobile antenna has many difficulties. Recently, the above mentioned problems can be reduced by employing enhanced wiper antenna which utilizes the windshied wiper arm. The new system is a passive antenna. In this study, experiments for the characteristics of a wiper antenna by measuring the SWR, radiation pattern and received powe have been carried out. The experimental results show that the efficiency of the wiper antenna has better performance than any other antenna.

Comparative investigation on fatigue and moisture absorption behavior of hemp and Jute fibre polymer composites

  • Earth is facing a serious problem of pollution and scarcity of energy sources. The synthetic fibers used in automobile and Aerospace manufacturing sectors are non-renewable and harmful to environment. International Agency such as FAA and SAE is forcing for green fuel, green materials and structures. Further exploration is much needed to understand its potential in structural applications. In the current study, hemp and Jute fibre based composites were developed and tested for assessing their suitability for possible applications in automobile and aerospace sectors. Composites were undergone tensile test, water absorption test, and fatigue analysis to understand its behavior under various loading conditions. The finite element analysis has been carried out to understand the fatigue behaviour of composites. The results revealed that the usage of hemp and jute fibre reinforced composites can improve mechanical properties and have shown a viable alternative to replace synthetic fibres such as glass fibres for specific applications. Hemp reinforced bio-composites have shown better performance as compared to Jute reinforced bio-composites while water resistance characteristics for hemp is poorer to jute fibres.

  • 유리/레진/유리의 샌드위치 구조는 자동차, 바이오, 디스플레이 산업 등에서 이미 상용화되고 있는 구조이다. 이러한 유리/레진/유리의 샌드위치 구조는 최근 반도체, MEMS분야 등에서 대량생산기술로 관심을 일으키고 있는 임프린트 리소그래피 공정에서도 다루어지고 있다. 나노 임프린트 공정 기술은 몰드의 마이크로, 나노패턴을 기판에 반복적으로 전사함으로써 반도체 제조공정에서 5나노미터(nm) 이하의 선폭까지 구현할 수 있는 기술이다. 이 과정에서 사용되는 레진은 패터닝된 몰드에 의해 변형되고 UV(Ultraviolet rays)에 의해 경화되어 패턴의 전사과정을 거친다. 이 때 몰드와 기판의 이형거동은 나노 단위의 정밀한 정렬과 공정의 생산성과 직결된다. 따라서 본 연구에 서는 4점 굽힘 실험을 통해 유리/레진/유리 구조의 굽힘 강도를 측정하였고, 특히 이 과정에서 계면해방률을 도출함으로써 나노 임프린트 공정 시 몰드와 레진 층의 이형거동을 기계적 측면에서 고찰하였다.

  • In order to reduce the weight of glass in architecture, automobile, bottles, displays, a new technique that can strengthen glass was developed using various method. Generally, the strength achieved of glass-ceramics is higher as is 1.he fracture toughness by the formation of a crystalline phase inside glass. In this study, $70SiO_2-20Na_2O-10CaO-10TiO_2$ glasses were irradiated to strengthen by heterogeneous phase using femto-second laser pulse. Laser pulse irradiation of samples was analyzed by DTA, TMA, XRD, nano-indenter and SEM. Samples irradiated by laser had lower value$(3\~4\times10^{-3}Pa)$ of nano indentation which related with mother glass$(8\times10-3Pa)$ than values. Microcracks were occurred around laser irradiation area when femtosecond laser with the repetition rate of 1kHz was used as the light source to induced heterogeneous phase.

유도형 정전선별에서 ASR 입자의 궤적모사 (Trajectory Simulation of ASR Particles in Induction Electrostatic Separation)

  • 폐자동차파쇄잔재물(Automobile Shredder Residue, ASR)은 폐차 재활용시 발생되는 최종 폐기물로써 파분쇄, 공기분급, 자력선별 및 정전선별법과 같은 자원처리 공정을 이용하여 선별할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 유도형 정전선별기를 이용하여 A SR의 선별효율 향상 및 예측을 위한 전도체(구리) 및 비전도체(유리)의 궤적분석이 수행되었다. 전도체의 궤적분석 결과, 0.5와 0.25 mm 조립자 구리선의 모사궤적은 실제궤적과 거의 일치하였다. 반면 0.06 mm 구리선의 관찰궤적은 (-) 전극으로 편향되었다. 이는 입자특성 및 상대습도에 의한 전하량의 영향 때문으로 판단된다. 비전도체의 경우 절연체 유리의 관찰궤적이 전도성 입자들의 궤적과 유사한 특징을 보이면서 (-) 전극으로 편향되었다. 현미경, SEM & EDS 분석결과 유리표면에서 미립의 철과 전도성 유기물과 같은 이물질 발견되었다. 이와 같이 이물질이 부착된 유리는 ASR 재활용을 위한 정전선별시 비철금속의 선별효율을 저하시키는 것으로판단된다. 향후 연구에서 유리에 부착된 이물질 제거를 위한 전처리 기술개발 및 개선된 궤적모사 연구가 요구된다.

Identification of Cutting Mechanisms in Orthogonal Cutting of Glass Fiber Reinforced Composites

  • In recent years, composite materials such as fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) have gained considerable attention in the aircraft and automobile industries due to their light weight, high modulus and specific strength. In practice, control of chip formation appears to be the most serious problem since chip formation mechanism in composite machining has significant effects on the finished surface [1,2,3,4,5]. Current study will discuss frequency analysis based on autoregressive (AR) time series model and process characterization in orthogonal cutting of a fiber-matrix composite materials. A sparsely distributed idealized model composite material, namely a glass reinforced polyester (GFRP) was used as workpiece. Analysis method employs a force sensor and the signals from the sensor are processed using AR time series model. The experimental correlation between the different chip formation mechanisms and model coefficients are established.(omitted)

자동차 열부하의 계산 (A Study on the Heat Load Transferred to a Passenger Vehicle)

  • The computer simulation program that calculates the transient heat load transferred to a passenger vehicle has been developed. Method for modeling mathematically various kinds of the heat load was presented and the derived equations were solved numerically. To find out the accuracy of the simulation program, the correlation of experimental and analytical results was demonstrated. By using this program, the typical characteristics about temperature distribution and instantaneous or of vehicle body color, material of glass, air-conditioning capacity, driving direction, and speed. Under a steady-state condition, the ratios of the heat load, resulting form vehicle body, glass, and interior part, were 35%, 29%, and 36%, respectively.

Evaluation of Inhomogeneous Deformation and Stress Concentration In Polymer Composites Injection Weld by means of Thermoelastic Techniques

  • Fiber composite materials are widely used in aerospace industries due to their high specific strength and stiffness. Especially, the increasing use of polymer composite materials for injection of automobile components has led to a considerable interest in the application of stress pattern analysis by thermal emission to these composite materials. Therefore, in this study the microstructure of glass fiber orientation at the parent and weld line of polycarbonate is observed by a light transmission. And we also investigate a stress concentration model of a notch including short glass fibers. Especially the polymer injection weld reorients the fiber to suggest a new method for the evaluation of inhomogeneous deformation.
