  • In the conventional velocity analysis, the peaks of a semblance panel are picked and the stacking velocities of the peaks are assumed as RMS velocities from which interval velocities are determined. This velocity analysis technique is correct only for horizontal homogeneous layes and incurs error in a layer whose velocity varies laterally. Tediousness of peak picking and error in velocity analysis can be reduced by automatic velocity analysis techniques. An automatic velocity analysis algorithm has been presented in order to improve these problems by considering the stacking velocity from the view point of interval velocity model and by relating the stacking velocity and the interval velocity with the traveltimes. In this paper, we apply the automatic velocity analysis method to simple models having lateral velocity anomaly to verify the effectivenesses and limits of this method. From the results of numerical experiments, we can determine the interval velocites without pickings of the stacking velocities in the one-dimensional velocity analysis and the general patterns of the laterally varying interval velocities appear in the two-dimensional case. However, the interval velocity and the depth of velocity anomaly determined by two-dimensional automatic velocity analysis are somewaht discrepant in those of the theoretical model.

  • Medical image segmentation is the process by which an original image is partitioned into some homogeneous regions like bones, soft tissues, etc. This study demonstrates an automatic medical image segmentation technique based on independent component analysis. Independent component analysis is a generalization of principal component analysis which encodes the higher-order dependencies in the input in addition to the correlations. It extracts statistically independent components from input data. Use of automatic medical image segmentation technique using independent component analysis under the assumption that medical image consists of some statistically independent parts leads to a method that allows for more accurate segmentation of bones from CT data. The result of automatic segmentation using independent component analysis with square test data was evaluated using probability of error(PE) and ultimate measurement accuracy(UMA) value. It was also compared to a general segmentation method using threshold based on sensitivity(True Positive Rate), specificity(False Positive Rate) and mislabelling rate. The evaluation result was done statistical Paired-t test. Most of the results show that the automatic segmentation using independent component analysis has better result than general segmentation using threshold.

  • A PC-based automatic system was developed for automatic titration in volatile basic nitrogen analysis by the microdiffusion method. The system used a CCD-type PC camera for the automatic detection of the titration end point. The camera checked whether the green value of a pixel on the red image of titrated solution became greater than the red value. The data from the automatic titration using the system were not significantly different (p>0.05) from those taken by manual titration. The agreement between means of data from manual titration and those from automatic titration was good.

  • The existing electrical engineering design method and the dynamic objective function in the application process of automatic control system fail to meet the unbounded condition, which affects the control tracking accuracy. In order to improve the tracking control accuracy, this paper studies the electrical engineering design method based on neural network and the application of automatic control system. This paper analyzes the structure and working mechanism of electrical engineering automation control system by an automation control model with main control objectives. Following the analysis, an optimal solution of controllability design and fault-tolerant control is figured out. The automatic control power coefficient is distributed based on an ideal control effect of system. According to the distribution results, an automatic control algorithm is based on neural network for accurate control. The experimental results show that the electrical automation control method based on neural network can significantly reduce the control following error to 3.62%, improve the accuracy of the electrical automation tracking control, thus meeting the actual production needs of electrical engineering automation control system.

  • In a finite element analysis of the metal forming processes having large plastic deformation, largely distorted elements are unstable and hence they influence upon the result toward negative way so that adaptive remeshing is required to avoid a failure in the numerical computation. Therefore automatic mesh generation and regeneration is very important to avoid a numerical failure in a finite element analysis. In case of generating quadrilateral mesh, the automation is more difficult than that of triangular mesh because of its geometric complexity. However its demand is very high due to the precision of analysis. Thus, in this study, an automatic quadrilateral mesh generation and regeneration method using grid-based approach is developed. The developed method contains decision of grid size to generate initial mesh inside a two dimensional domain, classification of boundary angles and inner boundary nodes to improve element qualities in case of concave domains, and boundary projection to construct the final mesh.

  • In this study, the energy characteristic of automatic thermostatic valves according to each heating method in floor radiant heating system were researched by computer simulation. For the analysis of unsteady heat transfer phenomena in household, the method of using electrical equivalent R-C circuit is applied, and radiation heat transfer between panel, ceiling and walls in household is calculated by enclosure analysis method. The parametric study on heating method, valve's control method, outdoor air condition, supply heating water temperature, supply flow rate are performed to compare energy characteristic, respectively.

  • Determinations of conformal map from the unit disk onto a Jordan region are reduced to solve the Theodorsen equation which is an integral equation for the boundary correspondence function. Among numerical conformal maps the Wegmann's method is well known as a Newton efficient one for solving Theodorsen equation. However this method has not so wide class of convergence. We proposed as an improved method for convergence by applying a low frequency filter to the Wegmann's method. In this paper, we investigate error analysis and propose an automatic algorithm based on this analysis.

  • The human subject analysis of a document has some critical problems. The method results in the inconsistency in analysis process and the contradiction of two objects of the subject analysis (one is the identification of the content for the retrieval of specific items and the other is to identify the content for the grouping of related materials). Since the subject analysis by mechanized has been recognized to be the possible way to aggregate the problems of manual analysis, various a n.0, pproaches of automatic indexing have been studied and experimented. This study is to examine the automatic indexing as one of the promising subject analysis techniques by statistical, syntactical and semantic a n.0, pproaches. In conclusion, the reasonable a n.0, pplication time of the automatic indexing should be made a decision based on the through investigation on the cost verse effectiveness, and automatic indexing system should be developed in the close relationship with the on-line search which is a good retrieval system for information explosion society. From now on, since the machine-readable document-text will be envisaged to be more and more available due to the rapid development of computer technology, the more substantial research on the automatic indexing will be also possible, which can bring about the increasing of practical automatic indexing systems.

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) is of great importance to super high-rise buildings. The Shanghai Tower is currently the tallest building in China, and a complete SHM system was simultaneously constructed at the beginning of the construction of the tower. Due to the variety of sensor types and the large number of measurement points in the SHM system, an online automatic structural health assessment method with few computations and no manual intervention is needed. This paper introduces a structural health assessment method for the Shanghai Tower that uses the coefficients of an autoregressive (AR) time series model as structural state indicators. An analysis of collected data indicates that the coefficients of the AR model are affected by environmental factors, and the principal component analysis method is used to remove the influence of environmental factors. Finally, the control chart method is used to track the changes in structural state indicators, and a plan for online automatic structure health state evaluation is proposed. This method is applied to long-term acceleration and inclination data from the Shanghai Tower and successfully identifies the changes in the structural state. Overall, the structural state indicators of the Shanghai Tower are stable, and the structure is in a healthy state.

  • This paper presents a method of building an exceptional pronunciation dictionary for Korean automatic pronunciation generator. An automatic pronunciation generator is an essential element of speech recognition system and a TTS (Text-To-Speech) system. It is composed of a part of regular rules and an exceptional pronunciation dictionary. The exceptional pronunciation dictionary is created by extracting the words which have exceptional pronunciations from text corpus based on the characteristics of the words of exceptional pronunciation through phonological research and text analysis. Thus, the method contributes to improve performance of Korean automatic pronunciation generator as well as the performance of speech recognition system and TTS system.
