Agricultural meteorological information is an important resource that affects farmers' income, food security, and agricultural conditions. Thus, such data are used in various fields that are responsible for planning, enforcing, and evaluating agricultural policies. The meteorological information obtained from automatic weather observation systems operated by rural development agencies contains missing values owing to temporary mechanical or communication deficiencies. It is known that missing values lead to reduction in the reliability and validity of the model. In this study, the hierarchical Bayesian spatio-temporal model suggests replacements for missing values because the meteorological information includes spatio-temporal correlation. The prior distribution is very important in the Bayesian approach. However, we found a problem where the spatial decay parameter was not converged through the trace plot. A suitable spatial decay parameter, estimated on the bias of root-mean-square error (RMSE), which was determined to be the difference between the predicted and observed values. The latitude, longitude, and altitude were considered as covariates. The estimated spatial decay parameters were 0.041 and 0.039, for the spatio-temporal model with latitude and longitude and for latitude, longitude, and altitude, respectively. The posterior distributions were stable after the spatial decay parameter was fixed. root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and bias were calculated for model validation. Finally, the missing values were generated using the independent Gaussian process model.

In electronic warfare(EW), low probability of intercept(LPI) radar signal is a survival technique. Accordingly, identification techniques of the LPI radar waveform have became significant recently. In this paper, classification and extracting parameters techniques for 7 intrapulse modulated radar signals are introduced. We propose a technique of classifying intrapulse modulated radar signals using Convolutional Neural Network(CNN). The time-frequency image(TFI) obtained from Choi-William Distribution(CWD) is used as the input of CNN without extracting the extra feature of each intrapulse modulated radar signals. In addition a method to extract the intrapulse radar modulation parameters using binary image processing is introduced. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed intrapulse radar waveform identification system. Simulation results show that the classification system achieves a overall correct classification success rate of 90 % or better at SNR = -6 dB and the parameter extraction system has an overall error of less than 10 % at SNR of less than -4 dB.
In this study, the fire analysis program FDS and Pathfinder was used to analysis a simulated accidental fire of a narrow dwelling space as a test bed. The results showed that the evacuation time of the H form internal building structure was the fastest at 285 seconds. In addition, when the automatic sprinkler system functioned with the entrances closed, the temperature distribution was lower and the visible smoke density was reduced.

The acoustic emission automatic detection system is developed to observe tree deterioration phenomena. Applying an alternating voltage of 15(kVnns) toXLPE tree specimens, many pulses of small amplitude are detected when the bush type tree developes branch type and a few pulses of high amplitude prcxluced as branch type propagated to bush type tree. Therefore, it is known that pulses having small amplitude operates as a destructive factor. It is observed that the skewness of the amplitude and the number of average pulses as distribution tendency of three dimension are characteristic quantity of AE pulses. As the trajectory of skewness is farther from the origin on the S-plane, it is more likely to breakdown.

In this paper, we study on the transformation technique of sequential programs for the purpose of 'exploiting parallelism' and 'improving locality'. Based on the analysis of loop procedures of sequential programs with the factor of dependency and locality, two transformation techniques of loop distribution and loop fusion are applied to them. Transformed programs can be easily expressed as a parallel program wit thread notation, having coarse-grain parallelism and improved locality. This means that those transformations can be useful tools for optimizing and automatic-parallelizing compiler construction. Application of those techniques to SPEC95 on a solaris machine with four SPARC processors show an improvement of execution time.
Convective/stratiform radar echo classification schemes by Steiner et al. (1995) and Biggerstaff and Listemaa (2000) are examined on a monsoonal front during the summer monsoon-Changma period, which is organized as a cloud cluster with mesoscale convective complex. Target radar is S-band with wavelength of 10cm, spatial resolution of 1km, elevation angle interval of 0.5-1.0 degree, and minimum elevation angle of 0.19 degree at Jindo over the Korean Peninsula. For verification of rainfall amount retrieved from the echo classification, ground-based rain gauge observations (Automatic Weather Stations) are examined, converting the radar echo grid data to the station values using the inverse distance weighted method. Improvement from the echo classification is evaluated based on the correlation coefficient and the scattered diagram. Additionally, an optimal use method was designed to produce combined rainfalls from the radar echo and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM/PR) data. Optimal values for the radar rain and TRMM/PR rain are inversely weighted according to the error variance statistics for each single station. It is noted how the rainfall distribution during the summer monsoon frontal system is improved from the classification of convective/stratiform echo and the use of the optimal use technique.
In order to determine the location of average concentration and distribution status of dissolved oxygen in the rectangular aeration tank of the sewage treatment plant was analyzed and the difference of dissolved oxygen concentration was remarkable at each location. Compared with the computational fluid dynamics analysis, it was found that the results were consistent with the measurement results by showing the difference of dissolved oxygen concentration between the locations. Based on the measured data, the representative location of dissolved oxygen in aeration tank was selected by using statistical analysis method and the representative location was expressed in three-dimensional coordinates(LWH : 25%, 50%, 33%) from flow direction and left wall. Also the difference between the dissolved oxygen concentration at the actual measurement location and the average concentration value of the entire aeration tank was founded, and the equations for calibrating the automatic measurement data considering the actual measurement location were calculated.
This paper addresses the numerical simulation of fatigue crack growth in arbitrary 2D geometries under constant amplitude loading by the using a new finite element software. The purpose of this software is on the determination of 2D crack paths and surfaces as well as on the evaluation of components Lifetimes as a part of the damage tolerant assessment. Throughout the simulation of fatigue crack propagation an automatic adaptive mesh is carried out in the vicinity of the crack front nodes and in the elements which represent the higher stresses distribution. The fatigue crack direction and the corresponding stress-intensity factors are estimated at each small crack increment by employing the displacement extrapolation technique under facilitation of singular crack tip elements. The propagation is modeled by successive linear extensions, which are determined by the stress intensity factors under linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) assumption. The stress intensity factors range history must be recorded along the small crack increments. Upon completion of the stress intensity factors range history recording, fatigue crack propagation life of the examined specimen is predicted. A consistent transfer algorithm and a crack relaxation method are proposed and implemented for this purpose. Verification of the predicted fatigue life is validated with relevant experimental data and numerical results obtained by other researchers. The comparisons show that the program is capable of demonstrating the fatigue life prediction results as well as the fatigue crack path satisfactorily.
Besides genuine skin and clothes, it is called that building is third skin for us. That means the skin of buildings is the most important factor for our man-made environment. The issues in designing the building envelope include the insulation, infiltration, ventilation and bridging in windows. Getting light into the space safely and providing views to outdoor, additionally, are key things with the building envelope design. A deep-rooted preference for full view is still alive with large area of glass. Balcony expansion is legalized in apartment houses, which causes lots of environmental problems. Without balcony space, the adjacent space to unshaded window is exposed to the direct sun. A window can have many layers and the inner space can be utilized with an automatic blind system. Recently, the refurbished version of a double-glazed window system has been developed for the purpose of minimizing energy loss occurred around windows. For the better daylight control with equipped blind system, a set of adjustment technique of blind slats was tested in a mock-up building and recommended the detail operation. Not surprisingly, the optimized blind system can be oriented to enhance the uniformity in light distribution and direct glare from the sky as well..
Numerical experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of data assimilation of observational data on weather and PM (particulate matter) prediction. Observational data applied to numerical experiment are aircraft observation, satellite observation, upper level observation, and AWS (automatic weather system) data. In the case of grid nudging, the prediction performance of the meteorological field is largely improved compared with the case without data assimilations because the overall pressure distribution can be changed. So grid nudging effect can be significant when synoptic weather pattern strongly affects Korean Peninsula. Predictability of meteorological factors can be expected to improve through a number of observational data assimilation, but data assimilation by single data often occurred to be less predictive than without data assimilation. Variation of air pressure due to observation nudging with high prediction efficiency can improve prediction accuracy of whole model domain. However, in areas with complex terrain such as the eastern part of the Korean peninsula, the improvement due to grid nudging were only limited. In such cases, it would be more effective to aggregate assimilated data.
