  • Automatic Transfer Crane is needed for automation of container terminal. It requires the control capability of exact position for loading/unloading job in yard. But it has the limitation of improvement because it has the operational environmental and its structural problems. It has the positioning errors caused by the deformation of rail, yawing motion of crane, wear of wheel, sliding motion between wheel and rail and so on. This study shows the calibration method of crane position by using the primitivity sensor and calibrating plate fixed on the ground.

  • A computation program has been developed for automatic data processing in the calibration process of gamma survey meter. The automatic processing program has been developed based on Visual Basic. The program has been coded according to steps of calibration procedure. The OLE(object linking an embedding) Excel automation method fur automatic data processing is used in this program, which is a kind of programming technique for the Excel control. The performance test on the basis of reference data has been carried out by using the developed program. In the results of performance test, the values of calibration factors and uncertainties by the developed program were equal to those obtained from the reference data. In addition, It was revealed that the efficiency and precision of working are significantly increased by using the developed program.

  • This paper presents a 4-channel multi-rate vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) driver. In order to keep the output power constant with respect to the process, voltage, temperature (PVT) variations, this research proposes automatic power and magnitude. For the fast settling time, the high-speed 10-bit time-interleaved Flash-successive approximation analog to digital converter (Flash-SAR ADC) is proposed and shared for automatic power and magnitude calibration to reduce the die area and power consumption. This chip is fabricated using $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and the die area is $4.2mm^2$. The power consumption is 117.84 mW per channel from a 3.3 V supply voltage at 10 Gbps. The measured resolution of bias /modulation current for APC/AMC is 0.015 mA.

Evaluation of multi-objective PSO algorithm for SWAT auto-calibration (다목적 PSO 알고리즘을 활용한 SWAT의 자동보정 적용성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) automatic calibration algorithm with multi-objective functions by Python, and to evaluate the applicability by applying the algorithm to the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) watershed modeling. The study area is the upstream watershed of Gongdo observation station of Anseongcheon watershed ($364.8km^2$) and the daily observed streamflow data from 2000 to 2015 were used. The PSO automatic algorithm calibrated SWAT streamflow by coefficient of determination ($R^2$), root mean square error (RMSE), Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency ($NSE_Q$), and especially including $NSE_{INQ}$ (Inverse Q) for lateral, base flow calibration. The results between automatic and manual calibration showed $R^2$ of 0.64 and 0.55, RMSE of 0.59 and 0.58, $NSE_Q$ of 0.78 and 0.75, and $NSE_{INQ}$ of 0.45 and 0.09, respectively. The PSO automatic calibration algorithm showed an improvement especially the streamflow recession phase and remedied the limitation of manual calibration by including new parameter (RCHRG_DP) and considering parameters range.

  • Movement order program of robot operating program is generally made by teach-in method. Therefore in most cases it is sufficient as long as the robot system shows a reguired repeatability for the working conditions. But the trend in the robot application moves to the automatic generation of the working programs. A mathematical robot model similar to the reality is necessary for the analysis of the kinematic transformation of the robot system. The purposes of this paper are to make a better describing form and to suggest an automatic algorithm for kinematic parameter identification.

  • SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) has been widely used in the world as a typical model for flood runoff analysis of urban areas. However, the calibration of the model is difficult, which is an obstacle to easy application. The purpose of the study is to develop an automatic calibration module of the SWMM linked with SCE-UA (Shuffled Complex Evolution-University of Arizona) algorithm. Generally, various objective functions may produce different optimization results for an optimization problem. Thus, five single objective functions were applied and the most appropriate one was selected. In addition to the objective function, another objective function was used to reduce peak flow error in flood simulation. They form a multiple objective function, and the optimization problem was solved by determination of Pareto optima. The automatic calibration module was applied to the flood simulation on the catchment of the Guro 1 detention reservoir and pump station. The automatic calibration results by the multiple objective function were more excellent than the results by the single objective function for model assessment criteria including error of peak flow and ratio of volume between observed and calculated flow. Also, the verification results of the model calibrated by the multiple objective function were reliable. The program could be used in various flood runoff analysis in urban areas.

Camera Calibration and Pose Estimation for Tasks of a Mobile Manipulator (모바일 머니퓰레이터의 작업을 위한 카메라 보정 및 포즈 추정)

  • Workers have been replaced by mobile manipulators for factory automation in recent years. One of the typical tasks for automation is that a mobile manipulator moves to a target location and picks and places an object on the worktable. However, due to the pose estimation error of the mobile platform, the robot cannot reach the exact target position, which prevents the manipulator from being able to accurately pick and place the object on the worktable. In this study, we developed an automatic alignment system using a low-cost camera mounted on the end-effector of a collaborative robot. Camera calibration and pose estimation methods were also proposed for the automatic alignment system. This algorithm uses a markerboard composed of markers to calibrate the camera and then precisely estimate the camera pose. Experimental results demonstrate that the mobile manipulator can perform successful pick and place tasks on various conditions.

Feasibility of Using an Automatic Lens Distortion Correction (ALDC) Camera in a Photogrammetric UAV System

  • This study examined the feasibility of using an automatic lens distortion correction (ALDC) camera as the payload for a photogrammetric unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system. First, lens distortion for the interior orientation (IO) parameters was estimated. Although previous studies have largely ignored decentering distortion, this study revealed that more than 50% of the distortion of the ALDC camera was caused by decentering distortion. Second, we compared the accuracy of bundle adjustment for camera calibration using three image types: raw imagery without the ALDC option; imagery corrected using lens profiles; and imagery with the ALDC option. The results of image triangulation, the digital terrain model (DTM), and the orthoimage using the IO parameters for the ALDC camera were similar to or slightly better than the results using self-calibration. These results confirm that the ALDC camera can be used in a photogrammetric UAV system using only self-calibration.

  • In this paper, a wideband clock generator using novel Automatic frequency calibration(AFC) scheme is proposed. Wideband clock generator using AFC has the advantage of small VCO gain and wide frequency band. The conventional AFC compares whether the feedback frequency is faster or slower then the reference frequency. However, the proposed AFC can detect frequency difference between reference frequency with feedback frequency. So it can be reduced an operation time than conventional methods AFC. Conventional AFC goes to the initial code if the frequency step changed. This AFC, on the other hand, can a prior state code so it can approach a fast operation. In simulation results, the proposed clock generator is designed for DisplayPort using the CMOS ring-VCO. The VCO tuning range is 350MHz, and a VCO frequency is 270MHz. The lock time of clock generator is less then 3us at input reference frequency, 67.5MHz. The phase noise is -109dBC/Hz at 1MHz offset from the center frequency. and power consumption is 10.1mW at 1.8V supply and layout area is $0.384mm^2$.

Remote Distance Measurement from a Single Image by Automatic Detection and Perspective Correction

  • This paper proposes a novel method for locating objects in real space from a single remote image and measuring actual distances between them by automatic detection and perspective transformation. The dimensions of the real space are known in advance. First, the corner points of the interested region are detected from an image using deep learning. Then, based on the corner points, the region of interest (ROI) is extracted and made proportional to real space by applying warp-perspective transformation. Finally, the objects are detected and mapped to the real-world location. Removing distortion from the image using camera calibration improves the accuracy in most of the cases. The deep learning framework Darknet is used for detection, and necessary modifications are made to integrate perspective transformation, camera calibration, un-distortion, etc. Experiments are performed with two types of cameras, one with barrel and the other with pincushion distortions. The results show that the difference between calculated distances and measured on real space with measurement tapes are very small; approximately 1 cm on an average. Furthermore, automatic corner detection allows the system to be used with any type of camera that has a fixed pose or in motion; using more points significantly enhances the accuracy of real-world mapping even without camera calibration. Perspective transformation also increases the object detection efficiency by making unified sizes of all objects.
