This research focuses on the condition of the coveralls that automobile maintenance workers wear. The objective of this survey is to conduct a thorough analysis on the quality of the coveralls and put forth suggestions for improving their quality. The research data were collected through interviews and the results are as follows. The participants in this research engage in a variety of types of maintenance work including oil changes and overall system checks and they usually wear extra-large-sized coveralls. The coveralls are generally worn during the winter for warmth and the company handles all purchasing and maintenance of the work clothes. Participants mentioned that certain parts of the clothes where they bend and stretch are cumbersome and areas around the knees and arms become easily tainted. They have also reported that although the coveralls are necessary, they are for the most part dissatisfied when it comes to the materials, design, and color. The participants have suggested that new coveralls would help to increase their work efficiency. As a result, it is concluded that the coveralls require much more development to meet the workers' needs and improvements need to be made on the functionality, aesthetics, and symbolic aspects of the design.

과거의 기업은 단순 생산과 관리만으로 기업을 유지시켜 왔다. 그러나 오늘날 제품 소비자들은 다양하고 복잡한 요구를 하고 있고 기업은 소비자들의 욕구를 충족시키지 못하면 존속할 수가 없다. 따라서 기업은 다양한 소비자의 요구에 대한 사회적, 경제적 환경변화에 대응 할 수 있는 최적의 기본 방침을 수립하고 그것을 실천하는 경영전략 수립이 필요하다. 경영전략 수립은 기업경영성과에 영향을 주는 가장 중요한 요인이라 할 수 있는데, 경영전략 수립과 기업경영성과라는 두 요인 사이에는 또 다른 복잡한 관리체계가 작용한다. 즉 생산시스템과 전사적 품질경영활동, 구성원들에 대한 보상, 그리고 조직구성원간의 관계 등이 영향을 미치는 것이다. 본 연구는 기업의 경영전략과 관리체계인 생산시스템, TQM 활동과 종업원에 대한 보상이 경영성과에 어떠한 영향이 있는지를 파악하고 이것을 기반으로 실증적 자료를 수집하여 분석 검증함으로써 기업발전의 토대로 삼고자 한다. 자료 분석을 위하여 SPSS 통계 패키지를 이용하였고, 각 연구 가설과 연구 모형은 구조방정식을 이용하여 검증하였다.

This paper aims to develop a practical finite capacity MRP (FCMRP) system based on the needs of an automotive parts manufacturing company in Thailand. The approach includes a linear goal programming model to determine the optimal start time of each operation to minimize the sum of penalty points incurred by exceeding the goals of total earliness, total tardiness, and average flow-time considering the finite capacity of all work centers and precedence of operations. Important factors of the proposed FCMRP system are penalty weights and dispatching rules. Effects of these factors on the performance measures are statistically analyzed based on a real situation of an auto-part factory. Statistical results show that the dispatching rules and penalty weights have significant effects on the performance measures. The proposed FCMRP system offers a good tradeoff between conflicting performance measures and results in the best weighted average performance measures when compared to conventional forward and forward-backward finite capacity scheduling systems.

The use of materials for modern lightweight auto-bodies is becoming more complex than hitherto assemblies. The high strength materials nowadays frequently used for more specific fields such as the front and rear sub frames, seat belts and seats are mounted to the assembled body structure using bolt joints. It is desirable to use nuts attached to the assembled sheets by projection welding to decrease the number of loose parts which improves the quality. In this study, nut projection welding was carried out between a nut of both boron steel and carbon steel and ultra-high strength hot-stamped steel sheets. Then, the joints were characterized by optical and scanning electron microscope. The mechanical properties of the joints were evaluated by microhardness measurements and pullout tests. An indigenously designed sample fixture set-up was used for the pull-out tests to induce a tensile load in the weld. The fractography analysis revealed the dominant interfacial fracture between boron steel nut weld which is related to the shrinkage cavity and small size fusion zone. A non-interfacial fracture was observed in carbon steel nut weld, the lower hardness of HAZ caused the initiation of failure and allowed the pull-out failure which have higher in tensile strengths and superior weldability. Hence, the fracture load and failure mode characteristics can be considered as an indication of the weldability of materials in nut projection welding.
