  • In this paper, we present a design of optimal 2-DOF PID controller for control of gantry crane which has to control swing motion and trolley position. For tuning the parameter of 2-DOF PID controller, we used evolution strategy(ES). During operate the crane system in yard, the goal is transporting the load to a goal position as quick as possible without rope oscillation. The crane is generally operated by an expert operator, but recently an automatic control system with high speed and rapid transportation is required. However, we developed an optimal controller which has to control the crane system with disturbance.

  • In this paper, we proposed a simple neural network-based parameter tuning algorithm, which could find the gradients of a certain performance index in the PID parameter spaces. In this process, we had to know the dynamics between input and output of the plant, and we used the Back Propagation Neural network to identify them. To make the parameter updating fast and smooth, we constructed the performance index as the sum of past N-squared plant errors, and applied a batch mode algorithm to update parameters. We performed several experiments with a DC Motor to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper proposes an auto-tuning method of feedforward signal in boiler control of thermal power plants by using the neural network. The neural network produces an optimal feedforward signal by tuning the weights of the network. The weights are adapted effectively by using the teaching signal of PI control output. The proposed method was evaluated based on a detailed simulator which expressed non-linear characteristics of the 600 MW actual thermal power plant at load chaning operations, showed effectiveness in the learning of the weights of the neural network, and gave an accurate control performance in the temperature control of the system. Through the evaluation, the proposed method was proved to be effectively applicable to the actual thermal plants as the automatic adjustment tool.

  • This paper proposes a new identification method that utilizes fuzzy inference in parameter identification. The prosed system has an additional control loop where a real plant has replaced by a plant model. Fuzzy rules describe the relationship between comparison results of the features and magnitude of modification in the model parameter values. In this paper, the tuning method which determines parameters of PID controller automatically is described through applying this algorithm to DC servo motor. And we intend to investigate effectiveness of the method by experiments. This method is effective in auto-tuning because the response of the closed loop has verified. The simulated and the experimental results of the dc servo motor are shown to confirm the viability of this method.

  • Technology on the proportional integral (PI) control have grown rapidly owing to the needs for the robust capacity of the controllers from industrial building sectors. However, PI controller requires tuning of gains for optimal control when the outside weather condition changes. The present study presents the possibility of reinforcement learning (RL) control algorithm with PI controller adapted in the HVAC system. The optimal design criteria of RL controller was proposed in the Environment Chamber experiment and a theoretical analysis was also conducted using TRNSYS program.

  • This paper presents a study on successive approximation measurement of mechanical parameters for motor control system. At the first step of servo system installation, control system gain tuning is troublesome work. Recently, auto-tuning method of motion controller for motor drive system is based on parameter measurement and identification. On the case of first order mechanical system (mechanical parameters are modified by simple inertia and friction), it is necessary for good response to get the accurate measurement or identification of the mechanical parameters. In this paper, novel method applies the binary successive approximation measurement to the inertia and friction coefficient. Computer simulation and experiment for the proposed method will show verification of accuracy and usefulness.

  • This paper propose a new hybrid genetic algorithm for auto-tunig auzzy controller improving the performance. In general, fuzzy controller used pre-determine d moderate membership functions, fuzzy rules, and scaling factors, by trial and error. The presented algorithm estimates automatically the optimal values of membership functions, fuzzy rules, and scaling factors for fuzzy controller, using hybrid genetic algorithms. The object of the proposed algorithm is to promote search efficiency by overcoming a premature convergence of genetic algorithms. Hybrid genetic algorithm is based on genetic algorithm and modified gradient method. Simulation results verify the validity of the presented method.

  • A hybrid fuzzy controller by means of the genetic algorithms is presented. The control input for the system in the HFC is a convex combination of the FLC's output in transient state and PlD's output in steady state by a fuzzy variable. The HFC combined a PID controller with a fuzzy controller concurrently produces the better output performance than any other controller. A auto-tuning algorithms is presented to automatically improve the performance of hybrid fuzzy controller using genetic algorithms. The algorithms estimates automatical Iy the optimal values of scaling factors, PID parameters and membership function parameters of fuzzy control rules. Especially, in order to auto-tune scaling factors and PID parameters of HFC using GA three kinds of estimation modes are effectively utilized. The HFCs are applied to the second process with time-delay. Computer simulations are conducted at step input and the performances of systems are evaluated and also discussed in ITAE(Integral of the Time multiplied by the Absolute value of Error ) and other ways.

  • We propose a new method to deal with the optimized auto-tuning for the PID controller which is used to the process-control in various fields. First of all, in this method, 1st order delay system with dead time which is modelled from the unit step response of the system is Pade-approximated, then initial values are determined by the Ziegler-Nickels method. So deciding binary strings of parents generation using by the fitness values of genetic algorithms, we perform selection, crossover and mutation to generate the descendant generation. The advantage of this method is better than the Ziegler-Nickels method in characteristic of output, and has extent of applying without limit of K, L, T parameters.

  • Recently technologies have created new principle and theory but the PID control system remains its popularity as the PID controller contains simple structure, including maintenance and parameter adjustment being so simple. The adjust parameter of PID to achieve best response of process which be using time and may be error if user are not expert. Nowadays this problem was solved by develop PID controller which can analysis and auto tune parameter are appropriate with process which used principle of Ziegler ? Nichols but it are expensive and designed for each task. Thus, this paper proposes auto tune PID based on FPGA by use principle of Dahlin which maximum overshoot not over 5 percentages and do not fine tuning again. It have performance in control process are neighboring controller in industrial and simple to use. Especially, It can use various process and low price. The auto tune digital PID processor embedded on chip FPGA XC2S50-5tq-144. The digital PID processor was designed by fundamental PID equation which architectures including multiplier, adder, subtracter and some other logic gate. It was verified by control model of temperature control system.
