  • Objectives Although the word Zheng (證) is widely used basic term in nowaday's East Asian traditional medicine, it's definition can't be found in ancient texts before 20th century, and the history in which that term got general meaning in public, have not been clearly introduced. So the present author show the way Zheng confirm it's modern implication. Methods To search the books that contain any contents on Zheng's definition, the author mainly used the electronic texts of Super Star Reader (超星閱讀器). To search modern study article on Zheng's definition, the author used China National Knowledge Infrastructure (www.cnki.net). Results The present study shows that : although Treatments according to disease Pattern Identification (辨證施治) have been prominent treatment modality in East Asian traditional medicine, the general definition of disease Pattern (證) was given in late 20th century. Especially from 1955 to 1965, some major scholars like Ren Ying Qiu (任應秋), Zhu Yan (朱顔), Qin Bo Wei (秦伯未) and Jiang Jian Fu (蔣見復) did important roles in it's concept creation. Conclusions Modern concept of Zheng (證) was defined in late 20th century.

  • The neural network approach has been shown to be a general scheme for nonlinear dynamical system identification. Unfortunately the error surface of a Multilayer Neural Networks(MNN) that widely used is often highly complex. This is a disadvantage and potential traps may exist in the identification procedure. The objective of this paper is to identify a nonlinear dynamical systems based on Self-Organized Distributed Networks (SODN). The learning with the SODN is fast and precise. Such properties are caused from the local learning mechanism. Each local network learns only data in a subregion. This paper also discusses neural network as identifier of nonlinear dynamical systems. The structure of nonlinear system identification employs series-parallel model. The identification procedure is based on a discrete-time formulation. Through extensive simulation, SODN is shown to be effective for identification of nonlinear dynamical systems. • Author has studied and reported on taxonomy of Korean sedges, using gross morphology, anatomy and epidermal patterns of the leaf blades(1969, 1971, 1973, 1974). This paper is the 6th report of epidermal patterns of leaf blade on sedges and includes 5 genera, Eriophorum, Fuirena, Kobresia, Rhynchospora and Scirpus. The author proposed to find epidermal patterns of leaf blades as an important taxonomic characteristic of sedges classification. The result of this study, the elements of leaf epidermis, subsidal cells, silica body, cell wall of long cell, prickles, and arrangement of the elements are considered to be significant characteristics for the identification and classification of sedge.

  • During the period from 5 to 15 , August 1965 , the author had made collection of flies at Mt. Sol-ak, Kangwon-Do and a total of 2000 specimens was collected . A close examination of the specimens reveals that Sarcophaga sichotealini (Rohdendorf, 1938) and anthomyia illocata Walker , 1956 wer ehitherto unreported from Korea. The author wishes to express his deep appreciation to Dr, Rokuro Kano to whom he owes for the identification of the said two species.

  • The Author had tried to classify lip print patterne of 380 persons aged from 3 to 71 for detecting possibility of individual identification. The results were as follows: 1. The incidency of lip print patterne by means of the Tsuchihashi modifiation method was high in type I, type Ⅱ,typeⅢ,type I`, typeⅣ, typeⅤ, respectively. 2. Any of lip print had no same shape. 3. No same shape of lip print was found even family members. 4. The shapes of lip prints were unchangeable in the period of 5 months.

  • The task of author name disambiguation involves identifying an author with different names or different authors with the same name. The author name disambiguation is important for correctly assessing authors' research achievements and finding experts in given areas as well as for the effective operation of scholarly information services such as citation indexes. In the study, we performed error correction and normalization of data and applied rules-based author name disambiguation to compare with baseline machine learning disambiguation in order to see if human intervention could improve the machine learning performance. The improvement of over 0.1 in F-measure by the corrected and normalized email-based author name disambiguation over machine learning demonstrates the potential of human pattern identification and inference, which enabled data correction and normalization process as well as the formation of the rule-based diambiguation, to complement the machine learning's weaknesses to improve the author name disambiguation results.

  • As the improvement of digital technologies increases the use of images from various fields, the domain of image retrieval has evolved and become a growing topic of research in the Library and Information Science field. The purpose of this study is to identify the knowledge structure of the image retrieval domain by using the author co-citation analysis and author bibliographic coupling as analytical tools in order to understand the domain's past and present. The data set for this study is 245 articles with 8,031 cited articles in the field of image retrieval from 1998 to 2013, from the Web of Science citation database. According to the results of author co-citation analysis for the past of the image retrieval domain, our findings demonstrate that the intellectual structure of image retrieval in the LIS field consists of predominantly user-oriented approaches, but also includes some areas influenced by the CBIR area. More specifically, the user-oriented approach contains six specific areas which include image needs, information seeking, image needs and search behavior, image indexing and access, indexing of image collection, and web image search. On the other hand, for CBIR approaches, it contains feature-based image indexing, shape-based indexing, and IR & CBIR. The recent trends of image retrieval based on the results from author bibliographic coupling analysis show that the domain is expanding to emerging areas of medical images, multimedia, ontology- and tag-based indexing which thus reflects a new paradigm of information environment.

  • Authors observed a corpse which is died from "Charring", caused by air disaster, for the purpose of individual identification. This is an identifide case of the charred corpse due to the fire while landing of KAL 747 Jumbo(HL 7445) at Kimpo airport Nov.1980. It was referred to author in the state of carbonization by high degree of heat-as unknown body entirely. But teeth condition and treated condition were well preserved under mouth closing and by the comparative examination of antermortem dental records, dental radiographs, the individual identification was simply accomplished. Therefore, it brought repeatedly a recognition of the practical effectiveness of dental identification and importance or dental records.

  • Identification of blood group from dental hard tissue for the purpose of individual identification of a highly burned corpse would play a significant role in a practical legal medicine. The author conducted a study of blood group with teeth left stading at a high temperature by the method of elution test. The following results were obtained. 1. The blood identifcation from heated dental hard tissue proved to be possible. 2. In cases of heat-treated theeth at $100^{\circ}C$ for 120 minutes, at $150^{\circ}C$ for 120 minutes and at $200^{\circ}C$ for 45 minutes for A.B.O(H) blood group, the identification of blood group was possible. 3. In case of heat-treated teeth, thermostability of blood group was found to be $150^{\circ}C$. 4. The adequate surface area for the detection of blood group was 40-80 meshes.

  • The author analyzed acoustic parameters of ten Korean numbers produced by ten male students using Praat. Variations of f0, F1, F2 and F3 within and between speakers were examined by determining an average and standard deviation of the parameters of each number and by comparing the acoustic values with one another. Results showed that each subject produced the numbers within a certain range of variation across time. Thus, speaker identification can be more certain using dynamic information of the acoustic parameters within each vocalic segment. Also, percent difference of within-subjects' variation to that of between-subjects can be utilized to determine which sounds would be better stimuli for speaker identification. According to the criteria, the number '2' proved the best stimulus while the number '7' was the worst. Future studies will be necessary to explore robust methods of speaker identification under noisy conditions.
