We present in this work a coupled phenomenological chemo-mechanical model that represents the degradation of concrete-like materials. The chemical behaviour is described by the nowadays well known simplified calcium leaching approach. And the mechanical damage behaviour is described by a continuum damage model which involves the gradient of the damage quantity. The coupled nonlinear problem at hand is addressed within the context of the finite element method. For the equation governing the calcium dissolution-diffusion part of the problem, special care is taken to treat the highly nonlinear calcium conductivity and solid calcium functions. The algorithmic design is based on a Newton-type iterative scheme where use is made of a recently proposed relaxed linearization procedure. And for the equation governing the damage part of the problem, an augmented Lagrangian formulation is used to take into account the damage irreversibility constraint. Finally, numerical simulations are compared with experimental results on cement paste.
In this paper, a new simple integral variable structure controller is designed with incorporating the actuator dynamics. The formulation of the VSS (variable structure system) controller design includes integral augmented sliding surface and the dynamics of the actuator expressed as the state equation. An illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the developed controller.

In this paper, a method for calculating the contact force and the frictional force caused by contacts between the wire rope and the rigid body is introduced based on multibody dynamics. And the method is applied to a simulation of contacts between the wire rope and the shell plate of a block that can occur during shipbuilding. The wire rope is composed of a number of lumped masses and the wire rope segments that connect the masses. After calculating the position of interference, we inserted a contact node into the wire rope. We then derived the equations of motion of the wire rope and the rigid body using augmented formulation based on multibody dynamics taking into account the constraints between the contact node and the rigid body. Using the equations, we were able to obtain the constraint force between the contact node and the rigid body, and calculate the contact force and the frictional force, based on which the position of the contact node was corrected. Finally, we applied our results to perform simulation of contacts between the wire rope and the shell plate of a block in order to verify the efficacy of the method proposed in this paper.

In the present work a rigid-plastic finite element formulation using dynamic explicit time integration scheme is proposed for numerical analysis of auto-body panel stamping processes. The rigid-plastic finite element method based on membrane elements has long been employed as a useful numerical technique for the analysis of sheet metal forming because of its time effectiveness. A damping scheme is proposed in order to achieve a stable solution procedure in dynamic sheet forming problems. In order to improve the drawbacks of the conventional membrane elements, BEAM(abbreviated from Bending Energy Augmented Membrane) elements are employed. Rotational damping and spring about the drilling direction are introduced to prevent a zero energy mode. The lumping scheme is employed for the diagonal mass matrix and linearizing dynamic formulation. A contact scheme is developed by combining the skew boundary condition and the direct trial-and-error method. Computations are carried out for analysis of complicated auto-body panel stamping processes such as forming of an oilpan, a fuel tank and a front fender. The numerical results of explicit analysis are compared with the implicit results with good agreements and it is shown that the explicit scheme requires much shorter computational time, especially when the problem becomes more complicated. It is thus shown that the proposed dynamic explicit rigid-plastic finite element method enables an effective computation for complicated autobody panel stamping processes.
This paper proposes Nonlinear Interior Point Method (NIPM) including discrete control variables optimal power flow formulations. The algorithm utilizes the robustness in terms of starting point and fast convergence for large scale power system of NIPM and an introduction of rounding penalty function which is augmented in the Lagrangian function to handle discrete control variables. The derived formulation shows a simplified approach to deal with discrete control problems which is implementable in real large scale systems.
Traffic noise estimation models are useful in evaluation of the noise pollution in current circumstances. They are helpful tools for design and planning new roads and highways. Measurement of average traffic noise level is possible when traffic speed and volume are known. The objective of this study was to devise a model for prediction of highway traffic noise levels based on current traffic variables in Iran. The design of this model was to take the impact of traffic congestion into consideration and to be field tested. This study is a library research augmented by field study conducted on Saeedi Highway located south west of Tehran. The period for the field study lasted 5 days from 7-12 February, 2013. This study examined liner and non-liner methods in formulation of its model. Liner method without a fixed coefficient was the best fit for the intended model. The proposed model can serve as a decision making tool to estimate the impact of key influential factors on sound pressure levels in urban areas in Iran.

This paper presents development of an improved domain decomposition method for large scale structural problem that aims to provide high computational efficiency. In the previous researches, we developed the domain decomposition algorithm based on augmented Lagrangian formulation and proved numerical efficiency under both serial and parallel computing environment. In this paper, new computational analysis by the proposed domain decomposition method is performed. For this purpose, reduction in computational time achieved by the proposed algorithm is compared with that obtained by the dual-primal FETI method under serial computing condition. It is found that the proposed methods significantly accelerate the computational speed for a linear structural problem.

Sectional analysis program for plane strain or axisymmetric geometry of aluminum alloy sheet metals was developed. For modeling the anomalous behavior of aluminum alloy, Barlat's strain rate potential and Hill's 1990 non-quadratic yield theory arranged under the plane stress assumption were employed. 2-D rigid-viscoplastic FEM formulation based on the bending-augmented membrane theory was derived, solving simultaneously force equilibrium as well as non-penetration condition. Isotropic hardening law was also assumed for yielding behavior. To verify the validity and availability of the developed program, 2-D stretch/draw forming process for plane strain geometry and cylindrical cup deep drawing process for axisymmetric geometry were simulated.
An algorithm is developed for augmenting a real video with virtual graphics objects without computing Euclidean information. Real motion of the camera is obtained in affine space by a direct linear method using image matches. Then, virtual camera is provided by determining the locations of four basis points in two input images as initialization process. The four pairs of 2D location and its 3D affine coordinates provide Euclidean orthographic projection camera through the whole video sequence. Our method has the capability of generating views of objects shaded by virtual light sources, because we can make use of all the functions of the graphics library written on the basis of Euclidean geometry. Our novel formulation and experimental results with real video sequences are presented.

In this paper, constrained resource project scheduling problems schedule project activities subject to finite constraints on the availability of non-storable resource. Further, resources are assumed to be available per period in constant amounts, and are also demanded by an activity in constant amounts throughout the duration of the activity. We describe formulation which minimizes the combined cost of fluctuations in resource demand and delay of project completion. Cost bounding procedures are augmented by dominance relationships presented as theorems. This paper presents algorithm for solving the problem. And numerical examples are presented. Sensitivity analysis to evaluate the effect of changes of cost efficients is conducted.
