Stepped Impedance LPF Using MCS Line with Ground (접지가 있는 MCS 선로를 이용한 스텝 임피던스 저역 필터)

  • The MCS(Micro-Coplanar Strip) line with ground has been analyzed. The conformal mapping method is used to calculate the quasi-static effective dielectric constant and characteristic impedance of this MCS line. The computed results of the present work are found to be in good agreement when compared with the results obtained using commercial S/W, IE3D. And in this paper, the stepped-impedance low pass filter is designed and fabricated with MCS lines for improving the frequency responses. The LPF proposed structure has been also designed and implemented to have the sharp attenuation characteristics in stop band. The agreement between simulation and measurement results verify the implemented LPF.

Surgical Treatment of a Plunging Ranula using the Intraoral and Submandibular Approach (구강 내 접근과 하악하 절개를 통한 몰입성 하마종의 수술적 치료)

  • Purpose: A plunging ranula is relatively uncommon and represents a mucus escape reaction occurring from a disruption of the sublingual salivary gland. It is a common condition found in young adults, even though the reported age range is 2 - 61 years. We report our experience of a complete excision of a plunging ranula via the intraoral and submandibular approach. Methods: A 23-year-old man had a large protruding mass in the right submandibular area. Initially, the protruding mass appeared bilaterally but the left side disappeared spontaneously. The MRI findings revealed a homogenous fluid attenuation mass in the submandibular space, suggesting a ranula. The sublingual gland was extirpated through the intraoral approach and the ranula excised totally via the submandibular approach. Results: The patient had an uneventful postoperative course without infection, paralysis and tongue sensory changes, etc. The pathology findings were characteristic of a pseudocyst without a lining epithelium or endothelium but with a vascular fibro-conective tissue wall filled with mucinous fluid. No recurrence was observed on the submandibular area during the 8 month follow-up period. Conclusion: The combined intraoral approach and submandibular approach is an effective and highly recommended method for sublingual gland extirpation and complete excision of a plunging ranula.

Design of Band Pass Filter using the Triple-Mode Resonators (3중모드 공진기를 이용한 대역통과 필터(BPF)의 설계)

  • This paper presents a triple-mode dielectric resonator far low loss and simple structure filter design. The BPF(Band Pass Filter) was designed using HFSS simulation results an4 fabricated using proposed resonators. The filter (3-stage BPF) has an insertion loss of about 0.9 dB at the center frequency of 1.93 GHz and a 3 dB bandwidth of about 25 MHz. If more complex characteristic is required, slot coupling between resonators can be used. Especially, the proposed BPF can be applied to the next generation mobile communication IMT-2000 system.

  • In this thesis, we designed and implemented a tracking filter which can be used for FH/2-FSK communication system in band of 40~60[MHz]. After measuring a performance of a tracking filter, an insertion loss was measured from 3.7 to 4.3 dB, depending upon a hopping center frequency. The 3 dB bandwidth of a tracking filter was specified 5.1 to 5.33% depend upon a hopping and 30/3 dB shape factor indication for interrupting property of a filter shows 6.828 to 6.98 satisfying a required specification. Also the attenuation $2{\times}f_0$, the characteristic parameter for interference degree, was specified 46~52dB, not satisfying a required specification.

A Coupled Line Impedance Transformer for High Termination Impedance with a Bandpass Filtering Response

  • In this study, a short-ended coupled line with a short-circuit stub transmission line bandpass filtering impedance transformer is presented. The general designed equations are derived on the basis of circuit theory. The design curves are provided to examine the characteristic of the proposed impedance transformer. The proposed circuit is suitable for high termination impedance. To validate the design formulas, a $400-50{\Omega}$ impedance transformer is designed and fabricated at the operating center frequency ($f_0$) of 2.6 GHz. The measured results show a good agreement with the simulation. The measured insertion and return losses are 0.6 dB and 22.5 dB at $f_0$, respectively. The measured return loss is higher than 20 dB within the passband frequency of 2.51-2.7 GHz. Moreover, the stopband attenuation is higher than 25 dB from DC to 1.64 GHz of the lower stopband and from 3.12 GHz to 6.4 GHz of the higher stopband.

  • In this paper, using diplexer structure and varactor diode controlled by reverse bias voltage for diplexer switch gives possibilities to improve isolation and current characteristics. 1 have newly designed switch with high isolation by application varactor diode corresponding to capacitor of diplexer. The low-pass filter for proposed tunable diplexer passes the microwave signal in the bandwidth for wireless cellular network systems and high-pass filter passes it in the bandwidth for wireless personal communication services (PCS) network systems. As the capacitance of the low-pass filter increases, the cut-off frequency can be moved to low frequency, so that the switch is on state in cellular bandwidth and off state in the PCS bandwidth, in contrast to, as the capacitance for attenuation characteristic of high-pass filter increases, it can be moved to high frequency, so that the switch is off state and on state in the cellular bandwidth. it is possible to improve isolation and current consumption characteristics by application diplexer design methods and varactor diode. 1 expect that the tunable diplexer circuit and design methods should be able to find applications on MMIC and low temperature copired ceramic (LTCC).

  • PLC (Power Line Communication) is the communication method using the existing power line installed in houses and offices to convert and transmit high frequency communication signal from tens of KHz to tens of MHz, and receive the filtered signal using high frequency filter. The advantage of PLC is that PLC uses the existing power line installed in houses and offices so it does not require separate power line. Easy and convenient access using electric outlets is another advantage of PLC. However, PLC has some disadvantages such as limited transmission power, high load interference and noise, variable signal attenuation, characteristic of impedance selective possibility of frequency property. This study designed the boiler temperature control system by unit using the modem designed on the basis of technology used for PLC modem, and designed remote control system using internet. After conducting experiments with those two systems, it was possible to control stably. By commercializing this product, we can avoid unnecessary heating of separate temperature control unit, and save the cost according1y, and it is possible to control on a remote site using internet in a more convenient way.

A Microwave Narrowband Bandpass Filter Using Inductive Post Obstacle in Rectangular Waveguide (인덕티브 포스트를 이용한 도파관형 마이크로파 협대역 대역통과 필터)

  • Narrowband bandpass weveguide filters using inductive post obstacles in rectangular waveguide are designed and constructed to have an equal-ripple bandwidth of 50MHz (0.56% fractional band-width) at a center frequency of 9GHz. Both the triple-post and the single-post configurations are realized and compared. The measured center frequency, bandwidth, and attenuation characteristics for both filters show good agreement with the theoretical calculations. When the two filters are compared, the insertion loss characteristic of the triple-post filter is better than that of the single-post filter by 0.8dB at the passband.

  • In this paper, the key parameters of $CO_2$ laser(focus depth, air blow rate, total laser beam time, number of pulse) are experimented for thru-hole and scribing line on AIN(aluminum nitride) substrate with high thermal conductivity. And, microstrip line & spiral planar inductor are fabricated on AIN substrate using 5 um Cu-plating with self-masking technique. The microstrip line of AIN has 0.1 dB/mm attenuation at 10 GHz and 6 nH spiral planar inductor has 56 maximum quality factor at 1 GHz. Thus, the AIN substrate is promising for GHz applications of high power area.

  • This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of MR impact damper for vehicle collision system. Various types of mechanism have been proposed to reduce force transmitted to the vehicle chassis and finally to protect occupants from injury. In the case of head-on collision, the bumper makes main role of isolation material for collision attenuation. In this study, the proposed bumper system consists of MR impact damper and structures. The MR impact damper utilizes MR fluid which has reversible properties with applied magnetic field. The MR fluid operates under flow mode. The bellows is used for generation of fluid flow. A mathematical model of the MR impact damper is derived incorporating with Bingham model of the MR fluid. Field dependent damping force is investigated with time and frequency domain. The MR impact damper is then incorporated with vehicle crash system. The governing equation of motion of vehicle model is formulated considering occupant model. Dynamic characteristics of vehicle collision system investigated with computer simulation.
