  • The purpose of this paper is the derivation and development of the new definitions and methods for the new estimation of robustness for the systems having structured uncertainties. This proposition adopts the theoretical analysis of the Lyapunov direct methods, that is, the sign properties of the Lyapunov function derivative integrated along finite intervals of time, in place of the original method of the sign properties of the time derivative of the Lyapunov function itself. This is the new sufficient criteria to relax the stability condition and is used to generate techniques for the robust design of control systems with structured perturbations. The systems considered are assumed to be nominally linear, with time-variant, nonlinear bounded perturbations. This new techniques demonstrate the improvement of robustness bounds from the numerical results.

  • A new discrete-time fuzzy output feedback control method for nonlinear systems with unknown time-delay is proposed. Ma et al. proposed an analysis and design method of fuzzy controller and observer and Cao et al. extend this result to be applicable fir the nonlinear systems with known time-delay. For the case of unknown time-delay, we derive the sufficient condition f3r the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium Point by applying Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem and convert this condition into the LMI problem.

  • This paper considers the synthesis of non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ state feedback controllers for singular systems and static state feedback controller with multiplicative uncertainty. The sufficient condition of controller existence, the design method of non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller, and the measure of non-fragility in controller are presented via LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique. Also, through singular value decomposition, some changes of variables, and Schur complements, the sufficient condition can be rewritten as LMI form in terms of transformed variables. Therefore, the obtained non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller guarantees the asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed loop singular systems within a prescribed degree. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the design method.

  • We propose a variable structure control design method for a class of multivariable uncertain state-delayed systems which can be represented by polytopic models. In terms of LMIs, we derive a sufficient condition for the existence of a linear sliding surface guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. We parameterize the sliding surface by using the solution of the LMI existence condition. We also give a switching feedback control strategy guaranteeing stable sliding mode. By using a numerical example, we show that our method supplements the existing results and it can be better than the existing results.

  • In this paper, we provide the synthesis of non-fragile H$\infty$ output feedback controllers for linear systems with affine parameter uncertainties, and dynamic output feedback controller with structural uncertainty. The sufficient condition of controller existence, the design method of robust and non-fragile H$\infty$ output feedback controller, and the region of controllers which satisfies non-fragility are presented. Also using some change of variables and Schur complements, the obtained condition to a compact set. We show that the resulting controller guarantees the asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed ...

  • A systematic output-tracking control design technique for robust control of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with norm-bounded uncertainties is developed. The uncertain T-S fuzzy system is first represented as a set of uncertain local linear systems. The tracking problem is then converted into the stabilization problem for a set of uncertain local linear systems thereby leading to a more feasible controller design procedure. A sufficient condition for robust asymptotic output tracking is derived in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A stability condition on the traversing time-instances is also established. The output tracking control simulation for a flexible-joint robot-arm model is demonstrated, to convincingly show the effectiveness of the proposed system modeling and controller design method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new sliding surface design method for a class of uncertain systems with mismatched unstructured uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. In terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we give a sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surfaces guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. And, we give an LMI parameterization of such linear sliding surfaces together with switched feedback control laws. Our LMI condition can be less conservative than the existing conditions and our result supplement the existing results. Finally, we give a numerical example showing that our method can be better than the previous results.

  • In this paper we suggest an enhanced Geraghty-type contractive mapping for examining the existence properties of classical nonlinear operators with or without prior degenerates. The nonlinear operators are proved to exist with the imposition of the Geraghty-type condition in a non-empty closed subset of complete metric spaces. To showcase some efficacies of the Geraghty-type condition, convergent rate and stability are deduced. The results are used to study some asymptotic properties of perturbed integral and hypergeometric operators. The results also extend and generalize some existing Geraghty-type conditions.

  • Dealing with quntization error in a control system properly becomes much more important as many devices are connected through network and controlled. Thus, in this paper, we study a data rate condition on quantizer to achieve practical stability in a discrete time linear time invariant system with state feedback control. First, required data rate is shown to depend on eigenvalue of the closed loop system, the size of the initial state vector, the magnitude of initial quantization error, and control gain in the absence of process noise. It additionally depends on the maximum magnitude of process noise when noise is not zero. Asymptotic analysis shows that a new design method may be needed to reduce the date rate for a networked control in the presence of quantization error and noise.. We provide a simple numerical evaluation of uniform quantizer and logarithmic qunatizer to assess their characteristics of practical stability depending on data rate in the presence of noise.

  • The design method of robust $H_{\infty}$ filtering for discrete-time uncertain linear systems is investigated in this paper. The uncertain parameters are assumed to be unknown but belonging to known convex compact set of polytope type. The objective is to design a stable robust $H_{\infty}$ filter guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of filtering error dynamics and present an $L_2$ induced norm bound analytically for the modified $H_{\infty}$ performance measure. The sufficient condition for the existence of robust $H_{\infty}$ filter and the filter design method are established by LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach, which can be solved efficiently by convex optimization. The proposed algorithm is checked through an example.
