  • This paper presents a light exposure correction algorithm for less pleasant images, acquired with a light metering failure. Since conventional tone mapping and gamma correction methods adopt a function mapping with the same range of input and output, the results are pleasurable for almost symmetric distributions to their intensity average. However, their corrections gave insufficient outputs for asymmetric cases at either bright or dark regions. Also, histogram modification approaches show good results on varied pattern images, but these generate unintentional noises at flat regions because of the compulsive shift of the intensity distribution. Therefore, in order to sufficient corrections for both bright and dark areas, the proposed algorithm calculates the gamma coefficients using primary parameters extracted from the global distribution. And the fusion weights are adaptively determined with complementary parameters, considering the classification information of a binary segmentation. As the result, the proposed algorithm can obtain a good output about both the symmetric and the asymmetric distribution images even with severe exposure values.

  • This paper analyzes the foreign exchange exposure and the influence of determinants on the significant exposure under various return horizons of US dollar and the Japanese yen. Also this research is extended to the existence of asymmetric exposures to foreign exchange risk. The exchange rate exposures exhibit significant time variations that are very large to represent changes in cash flow sensitivities, but the relation of the significant exposures and time variations is not monotonically increasing. The extent to which a firm is exposed to exchange rate fluctuations can be explained by the level of the growth potential, nm size and leverage. For the various return horizons, firms with a higher growth potential tend to have higher exposures. And the larger firms' exposures tend to be smaller. The influences of the level of export ratio and leverage vary with return horizons and each periods. It is found that the exposures of fins are asymmetric. The asymmetry is mainly explained by the market share hypothesis. The level of export ratio commonly influences the asymmetric exposures to the US dollar and the Japanese yen.

  • Developed halftone exposure technique was successfully applied to the fabrication of narrow transistor channels below $4\;{\mu}m$ with conventional photolithography method. Asymmetric slits concept of photo mask was applied to make channel lengths (L) shorter for thin film transistor's (TFT) high performance. These short channel TFTs verified better quality transistor characteristics.

  • Light Guide Plate (LGP) of LCD-BLU(Back Light Unit) is manufactured by forming optical pattern with $5\~100um$ in diameter on the LGP by means of sand blasting or etching method. However, in order to improve the luminance of LCD-LGP, the design of optical pattern has introduced UV inclined-exposure process in this study. This micro-optical pattern, which has asymmetric elliptical column shaped pattern, can change low viewing-angle to high viewing-angle, as well as it contribute to diffusion of light. As a result, this type of micro-optical pattern can introduce the highly luminance. The PR structure obtained in the stage of lithography has asymmetric elliptical column shape and it is processed into a micro-optical pattern. Optical design with this kind of micro-optical pattern, mold fabrication by electroplating and LGP molding with injection molding are under way.

  • This work analyzes the influence of the dollar and yen currency on the rate of return of the individual firms and its symmetries based on the data from Jan. 5 1987 to Dec. 28, 2001. GARCH and autoregressive error models were used for on the daily data, due to the heteroscedascity and autoregression of the error terms, and as for the monthly data, this paper follows the autoregressive error models. Daily data fumed out to be a better explanatory variable in detecting exchange rate exposure, and EGARCH(1, 1) and GJR-GRARCH(1, 1) have higher competence in analyzing the daily data. Also, most of the exposed firms have been exposed in the negative region, and appreciation of exchange rate does not help enhancing the asset value of the domestic value. Analysis on the asymmetries let us conclude that high proportion of domestic firms face asymmetric exchange rate exposure, and that the pricing-to-market theory carries more conviction than the real option theory. Furthermore, monthly data are more precise in analysis of asymmetries.

  • An asymmetric microfiltration membranes were prepared with polysulfone by an immersion precipitation phase inversion method. Microfiltration membranes were prepared by polysulfone/N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone/polyvinylpyrrolidone/phosphoric acid casting solution and water coagulant. The vapor induced phase inversion method was used to prepare the membranes. The pore size and the morphology were changed by the phosphoric acid additive, the temperature of casting plate and the exposure time at the relative humidity of 74%. The morphology of membranes was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and microflow permporometer. By the addition of the phosphoric acid additive in the casting solution, the morphology of the prepared membranes were changed from a dense sponge structure to a loose asymmetric sponge structure. Due to the addition of catalytic amount of phosphoric acid to NMP casting solution, the mean pore size increased almost $0.2{\mu}m$ and the water flux increased about 3,000 LMH. The temperature of casting plate and exposure time had a apparent effect on the skin layer structure and the pore size and the porosity of the membrane.

  • Double-layered polymer films to assay the radioactive contamination were formulated using polysulfone (PSF) and cerium activated yttrium silicate (CAYS), consisting of a dense support layer and a CAYS-holding top layer prepared via the diffusion-induced phase inversion. As the vapor exposure process was omitted, the CAYS-holding layer showed a typical asymmetric structure, with CAYS being transfixed into the polymer network spread with large macropores. With the increase in vapor exposure time before immersion, morphology of the films transformed from asymmetric to sponge-like structures, with CAYS being localized in cellular structure. The border structure between the two layers reflects the phase inversion behavior of a cast solution during the coagulation. In the radioactive detection, the polymer phase in a film holding a sponge-like structure is so dense that the radionuclides, deposited on the film, could not filter through the phase, consequently resulting in the loss in the detection efficiency of the film.

  • In this paper, we show a modified Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol that can exchange keys by exposing only minimal information using pre-computable session key pairs. The discrete logarithm problem, which provides the safety of existing Diffie-Hellman and Diffie-Hellman based techniques, is modified to prevent exposure of primitive root. We prove the algorithm's operation by applying the actual value to the proposed scheme and compare the execution time and safety with the existing algorithm, shown that the security of the algorithm is improved more than the product of the time complexity of the two base algorithms while maintaining the computation amount at the time of key exchange. Based on the proposed algorithm, it is expected to provide a key exchange environment with improved security.

  • Radon, which enters the interior environment from soil, rocks, and groundwater, is a radioactive gas that poses a serious risk to humans. Indoor radon concentrations are measured to investigate the risk of radon gas exposure and reliable radon concentration mapping is then performed for further analysis. In this study, we compared the predictive performance of various univariate kriging algorithms, including ordinary kriging and three nonlinear transform-based kriging algorithms (log-normal, multi-Gaussian, and indicator kriging), for mapping radon concentrations with an asymmetric distribution. To compare and analyze the predictive performance, we carried out jackknife-based validation and analyzed the errors according to the differences in the data intervals and sampling densities. From a case study in South Korea, the overall nonlinear transform-based kriging algorithms showed better predictive performance than ordinary kriging. Among the nonlinear transform-based kriging algorithms, log-normal kriging had the best performance, followed by multi-Gaussian kriging. Ordinary kriging was the best for predicting high values within the spatial pattern. The results from this study are expected to be useful in the selection of kriging algorithms for the spatial prediction of data with an asymmetric distribution.

  • Heavy metal contaminants on the aquatic environment are of interest because they can have severe effects on economy and public health. Recently, the studies for monitoring of heavy metals try to do on aquatic system to assess safety and health of ecosystem by heavy metals. Thus, biological responses were investigated on Korean fairy shrimp Branchinella kugenumaensis exposed to cadmium (Cd) or copper (Cu) for long-periods (30 days). The survival rate decreased significantly (p<0.05) on B. kugenumaensis exposed to Cd and Cu at all concentrations. Especially, the highest decrease was observed at the relatively high concentration of Cd and Cu (p<0.01) and the response by Cd exposure was at dose-dependent. The growth rates were also decreased significantly (p<0.05) on B. kugenumaensis exposed to Cd and Cu for at all concentrations. Then, the reproduction rate, numbering cyst, was decreased significantly (p<0.01) on B. kugenumaensis after Cd or Cu exposures. Long exposure of the relatively high concentration Cd and Cu can have severe effects on the reproduction, while exposures of Cd and Cu can not have effects on sex ratios of B. kugenumaensis. Additionally, asymmetric telson deformity was only observed after Cd exposure. Therefore, these results suggest that B. kugenumaensis is a sensitive bio-indicator of heavy metal exposure and these biological responses of B. kugenumaensis give important information for long-term monitoring on aquatic ecosystem.
