Some important problems for the bimodal initial mass function(IMF) of field stars in the solar neighborhood, the relation of the IMF of field stars with the combined IMF of open star clusters and the time-dependent IMF of young star clusters are discussed particularly by comparing their observed and computed present day mass functions.

We utilize the jitter radiation, which is the emission of relativistic electrons in the random and small-scale magnetic field, to investigate the high-energy emissions of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Under the turbulent scenario, the random and small-scale magnetic field is determined by the turbulence. We also estimate the acceleration and cooling timescales. We identify that some GRBs are possible cosmic-ray sources.

A wide-field CCD detector for solar eclipse observations is discussed. The CCD is supposed to be of a moderate size, and the image of the corona is obtained by scanning the field of view. Results of the 1995 solar eclipse observation are shown which have been made with a prototype of the scanning CCD detector.
