New Record of Arctoseius cetratus (Sellnick, 1940) (Mesostigmata: Ascidae) Phoretic to Sciarid Fly from Mushroom Culture in Korea

  • The Mesostigmata is an order of Subclass Acari either parasiting to diverse invertebrates or free-living predatory in terrestrial ecosystem. Phoresy is one of the unique behaviors of wingless arthropod dispersal by attaching winged arthropods. We collected mites attached on the dorsal part of abdomen adult sciarid fly, from mushroom culture. The mites were identified as Arctoseius cetratus Sellnick, 1940 in the family of Ascidae. Arctoseius cetratus has short J2, Z1, Z2, and S1, S2 setae, not reaching the bases of following setae. Posterior half of dorsal shield with longitudinal garland of puncta between J and Z setae, peritremes extending anteriorly to midlevel of coxaII. The genus Arctoseius and species Arctoseius cetratus are the first record in Korea. We provided the detail description of the species including the identification key in the family with some ecological notes.

  • Mites of the genus Antennoseius of family Ascidae are free-living soil predator mostly observed on the open grass field. In Korea, only two species, Antennoseius imbricatus Ishikawa, 1969 and A. japonicus Ishikawa, 1979 were reported in 1990s. Recent series of soil acarine biodiversity survey in Gyeongbuk province during 2009-2015. We recovered a new record of Antennoseius avius (Karg, 1976) to Korean inventory from riparian grassland. Detailed description of the species as well as the identification key to the genus and species were provided.

  • This study includes the taxanomy, description and a key to species of mites in the genus Asca from Korea. Specimens were collected from December 1993 to May 1996. As a result of this study, the following three species were identified. 1. Asca (Asca) aphidioides (Linne, 1758) 2. Asca (Asca) sculptrata Aoki, 1968 3. Asca (Asca) garmani Hurlbutt, 1963 These three species have not been described from Korea.

한라산에서 발견된 미기록 응애 Asca bicornis (응애아강, 중기문응애목, 떠돌이응애과)의 보고 (A New Record of Asca bicornis Canestrini & Fanzago, 1877 (Acari, Mesostigmata, Ascidae) from Hallasan Mountain in the Republic of Korea)

  • 중기문응애목 떠돌이응애과는 토양에 서식하는 포식성 응애로, 토양해충의 생물적 방제원으로 이용가치가 있다. 우리나라의 떠돌이응애과는 10속, 24종이 보고 되었다. 본 연구는 제주도 한라산천연보호구역 물장오리오름에서 토양응애 생물다양성 연구 중 이끼에서 우리나라 미기록종 Asca bicornis Canestrini & Fanzago, 1877을 발견하여 보고하는 바이다. 등판과 배판의 묘사를 통해서 형태적인 특징을 자세히 제공하였다. 근연종인 A. aphidioides는 등판 양쪽 말단에 돌출된 혹에서 각 1개의 센털이 있으나, A. bicornis는 2개가 나 있다.

  • 2002년 9월부터 2003년 12월까지 경남 진주시 경상대학교 인근의 야산, 초지, 하천변, 온실, 건물옥상, 논 및 채소밭에서 닭과 소의 사체를 매장하거나 노출 설치하여 유인되는 진드기류를 채집하였으며 동정 한 결과 다음과 같이 7종을 확인하였다. Suborder Ixodida 참진드기 아목 Family Ixodidae 참진드기 과 1. Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann, 1901 작은소참진드기 Suborder Mesostigmata 중기문 아목 Family Machrochelidae 큰집게좀진드기 과 2. Macrocheies muscaedolnesticae(Scopoli, 1772) 파리큰집게좀진드기 3. Holostaspella ornata(Berlese, 1904) 무늬파리응애(국명 신칭) Family Ascidae 떠돌이응애 과 4. Protogamasellus micus(Athias-Henriot, 1961) 미카응애(국명 신칭) 5. Lasioseius sugawarai Ehara,1964 화살응애 6. Proctolaelaps sp. Suboder Prostigamta 전기문 아목 Family Erythraeidae 7. Abrolophus sp. 그 중 가장 흔한 것은 파리큰집게좀진드기(31.8%)와 미카응애 (28.2%)이었고, Holostaspella ornata (Berlese 1904)와 Protogamasellus micus(Athias-Henriot 1961)는 한국 미기록종이다.

First record of four bee (Hymenoptera: Apidae) associated mite species (Acari) from Democratic People's Republic of Korea

  • Four mite species (Acari: Scutacaridae: Scutacarus acarorum (Goeze, 1780), Chaetodactylidae: Sennertia alfkeni (Oudemans, 1900); Ascidae: Proctolaelaps longanalis (Westerboer, 1963), Laelapidae: Hypoaspis (Pneumolaelaps) marginepilosa (Sellnick, 1938) are found on the body of bees deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. The host bee species were collect in Democratic People's Republic of Korea; the found four species are collected at first time in Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

백두산의 토양진드기류 조사 (Studies on Soil Mites by Altitude in Mt. Paektu)

  • The results of a week-long exploration, which was conducted on the soil mite of Mt. Paektu area by our team of the Ecological Society of Korea from July 22nd till July 27th of 1997, are as follows. All mite were picked and examined from the soil of 2,000 cm$^{2}$ from eight respective zones. The total number collected was 384 individuals with 20 families, 33 genera, 38 species including 42 individuals of unknown species. They were classified and identified as 13 families 18 genera 22 species of Oribatei, 4 families 11 genera 12 species of Mesostigmata, 2 families 3 genera 3 species of Prostigmata. Among them 5 species of Laelaptidae, Ascidae and Uropodidae couldn't be classified and identified owing to the shortage of reference. in alphine tundra zone 91 individuals were found, which outnumbered than that of the other surveyed areas. The mite that existed evenly in all around the surveyed areas was Tectocepheus sp. and 32 individuals of them were collected from the virgin forest zone. A comparatively small number of mite was found from sungsaha and the intersection of three streets in Mt. Paektu and Songkangjin town, which accoumts for soil picking from unsuitable places.
