  • We have reported that a 24 kDa protein (22U homologous; As22U) of Anisakis simplex larvae could elicit several Th2-related chemokine gene expressions in the intestinal epithelial cell line which means that As22U may play a role as an allergen. In order to determine the contribution of As22U to allergic reactions, we treated mice with 6 times intra-nasal application of recombinant As22U (rAs22U). In the group challenged with rAs22U and ovalbumin (OVA), the number of eosinophils in the bronchial alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was significantly increased, as compared to the group receiving only OVA. In addition, mice treated with rAs22U and OVA showed significantly increased airway hyperresponsiveness. Thus, severe inflammation around the airway and immune cell recruitment was observed in mice treated with rAs22U plus OVA. The levels of IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 cytokines in the BALF increased significantly after treatment with rAs22U and OVA. Similarly, the levels of anti-OVA specific lgE and lgG1 increased in mice treated with rAs22U and OVA, compared to those treated only with OVA. The Gro-${\alpha}$ (CXCL1) gene expression in mouse lung epithelial cells increased instantly after treatment with rAs22U, and allergy-specific chemokines eotaxin (CCL11) and thymus-and-activation-regulated-chemokine (CCL17) gene expressions significantly increased at 6 hr after treatment. In conclusion, rAs22U may induce airway allergic inflammation, as the result of enhanced Th2 and Th17 responses.

  • The present study experimentally investigated the effect of refrigeration oil on the condensation heat transfer for R-22 and R-407C in a microfin tube with a U-bend. Mineral oil and POE oil were used for R-22 and R-407C respectively. Experimental parameters were an oil concentration from 0 to 5%, a mass flux from 100 to 400 $kg/m^2s$ and an inlet quality from 0.5 to 0.9. The enhancement factors for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants at the first straight section decreased continuously as the oil concentration increased. The decreased rapidly as the mass flux decreased and the inlet quality increased. The heat transfer coefficients in the U-bend showed the maximum at the 90$^{\circ}$position. the heat transfer coefficients at the second straight section within the dimensionless length of 48 were larger by a maximum of 33% than the average heat transfer coefficient at the first straight section.

  • Frequent occurrences of green tides caused by Ulva species (Ulvales, Ulvophyceae) associated with eutrophication along enclosed coasts are currently causing environmental problems in coastal ecosystems. In addition, increasing intercontinental introductions of coastal marine organisms, including Ulva, are also a serious issue. However, due to the considerable morphological plasticity of this genus, the taxonomy of Ulva species based on morphological studies is problematic. Therefore, in order to elucidate the species diversity and seasonal changes of the dominant Ulva species in Mikawa Bay, central Honshu, Japan, we made seasonal collections of Ulva species at seven localities, and identified the dominant species using the ITS2 rDNA region sequences. We identified the following nine taxa as common Ulva species in the area: 1) Ulva pertusa Kjellman; 2) U. ohnoi Hiraoka et Shimada; 3) U. linza L.; 4) U. californica Wille; 5) U. flexuosa Wulfen; 6) U. fasciata Delile; 7) U. compressa L.; 8) U. armoricana Dion et al.; 9) U. scandinavica Bliding. Among the species, U. pertusa was most common and dominant from spring to summer, and U. ohnoi from autumn to winter. Ulva californica and U. scandinavica have not been reported before from Japan.

  • Prostate cancer is a high-risk with a high incidence and is a disease that occurs only in men. Accurate diagnosis of cancer is necessary as the incidence of cancer patients is increasing. Prostate cancer is also a disease that is difficult to predict progress, so it is necessary to predict in advance through prognosis. Therefore, in this paper, grade classification is attempted based on texture feature extraction. There are two main methods of classification: Uses One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine whether texture features are significant values, compares them with all texture features and then uses only one classification i.e. Benign versus. The second method consisted of more detailed classifications without using ANOVA for better analysis between different grades. Results of both these methods are compared and analyzed through the machine learning models such as Support Vector Machine and K-Nearest Neighbor. The accuracy of Benign versus Grade 4&5 using the second method with the best results was 90.0 percentage.

  • A typical low and medium-sized neighborhood living facility in reinforced concrete building secures a high floor and pursues an efficient module plan(long span). Accordingly, research on the development of new hybrid beams that can innovatively reduce labor costs such as on-site installation and assembly while securing strength and rigidity is ongoing. In order to verify the structural performance of the U-flanged truss composite beam with newly developed shape, Experiments with various variables are required. Based on the results, this study is to evaluate the strength of U-flanged truss hybrid beam through the flexural strength of the Korea Design Code and experimental values. It was evaluated that nominal flexural strength was 110% to 135% higher than the experimental value.

  • The first full-scale u-City operation has started in Dongtan u-City. As local cities take over and operate the u-City, unexpected issues arise such as securing the budget of operating costs and self-providing the costs with business models utilizing the u-City assets. The paper presents a strategy for solving these issues. The strategy provides a foundation(infrastructure) for long-term operation models which may reduce the long-term operating costs. In order to establish the economic operating framework of u-City, suggested are some cost-reduction models based on the operating costs structure. For each model, a base framework with comparative analysis of operating costs is provided. With these models, each u-City may select a relevant model according to the characteristics of it. We hope that the framework provides the foundation for efficient and sustainable u-City operations.

  • As changed the clinical environment, the interest on u-Healthcare service and systems has been increased. The ubiquitous healthcare(u-Healthcare) systems are constructed at the integrated environment that consists of various devices and systems basically such as personal health devices(PHDs) measuring body signals, information aggregators gathering the data transmitted from PHDs through wireless technology, and health information systems storing and managing personal health information transmitted from the information aggregators. International standards such as IEEE 11073 and HL7 have been specified for the interoperability of PHDs and health information systems, but the research on u-Healthcare systems that were developed and applied in the real clinical environment by adopting the standards was rarely conducted. Therefore, we developed an u-Healthcare system which can manage personal health information, such as blood glucose, blood pressure, and body composition, based on health information exchange standards. Moreover, we verified the stability of the developed system through clinical trial in patients with endocrine disease at the Kyungpook National University Hospital, and listed problems occurred during clinical trial and found their solutions.

  • In this paper, we propose a master planning framework for the development of u-City export model. The framework consists of a general plan, a construction plan, an operation plan and an evaluation plan for the successful penetration of u-City overseas market, respectively. In order to derive those planning elements, governmental policies and related literature for u-City export is thoroughly reviewed. The framework is applied to a project which develops an u-City export model. This study will contribute to the realization of such governmental policies for the revitalization of u-City export as well as the activation of u-City export by the private sector.
