  • After the removal of SA (Selective Availability), horizontal accuracy of 25m(2dRMS) is easily obtained using GPS (Global Positioning System). In this paper, the error characteristics without SA are analyzed and a navigation algorithm concerns this error characteristics is proposed to further improve the accuracy. The proposed method utilizes the relationship between elevation angle and errors that are remained after ionospheric and troposheric delay compensation. The relationship is derived from real measurements and used as a weighting matrix of weighted least squares estimator. Furthermore, a RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring) technique is included to remove abnormal measurements affected by multi-path or low SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio). It is shown that using the proposed method, more than 4 times accurate result, which is comparable with DGPS (Differential GPS), can be obtained from experiments with real data. Besides accuracy and reliability, the proposed method reduces large jumps in position and maintains better performance than a method using mask angle to completely remove satellites below this mask angle. Thus it is expected that the proposed method can be efficiently applied to land navigation where some satellites are blocked by building or forest.

  • Tool path generation is a part of process planning in 3D printing. This is done before actual printing by a computer rather than an AM machine. The mesh geometry of the 3D model is sliced layer-by-layer along the Z-axis and tool paths are generated from the sliced layers. Each 2-dimensional layer can have two types of printing paths: (i) shell and (ii) infill. Shell paths are made of offset loops. During shell generation, twists can be produced in offset loops which will cause twisted tool paths. As a twisted tool path cannot be printed, it is necessary to remove these twists during process planning. In this research, An algorithm is presented to remove twists from the offset loops. To do so the path segments are traversed to identify twisted points. Outer offset loops are represented in the counter-clockwise segment order and clockwise rotation for the inner offset loop to decide which twisted loop should be removed. After testing practical 3D models, the proposed algorithm is verified to use in tool path generation for 3D printing.

  • To provide high voice quality of real-time voice communication based on telematics exposed to various noise environments, the noise reduction algorithm with low computing load is required to effectively remove the noise. In this paper, we propose a noise reduction algorithm based on Mel-Filter and illustrate the proposed algorithm comparing with conventional noise reduction algorithms. As a experimental result that evaluates the performance of the noise reduction algorithms under the car and babble noise environments, the proposed noise reduction algorithm has the lower computing load with the similar PESQ score compared to the conventional noise reduction algorithms. It proves that the proposed noise reduction algorithm can efficiently remove the noise in mobile telematics.

  • Perforator flaps are becoming increasingly common, and as primary thinning techniques are being developed, the need for secondary contouring of flaps is decreasing. However, many reconstructive flap procedures still incorporate secondary debulking to improve the functional and aesthetic outcomes. Direct excision, liposuction, tissue shaving with an arthroscopic cartilage shaver, and skin grafting are the four major methods used for secondary debulking. Direct excision is primarily applied in flaps where the skin is redundant, even though the volume is not excessive. However, due to the limited range of excision, performing a staged excision is recommended. Liposuction can reduce the amount of subcutaneous tissue of the flap and protect the vascular pedicles. However, the main drawback of this method is its limited ability to remove fibrotic tissues, for which the use of a shaver may be more convenient. The main drawback of using a shaver is that it is difficult to simultaneously remove excess skin. Skin grafting enables the removal of sufficient excess tissue to recover the contour of the normal limb and to improve the color match, facilitating excellent aesthetic results.

  • Sea surface height geoidal undulation, and gravity anomaly derived from satellite altimeter measurements are described. Assuming mean sea surface height (MSSH) as geoidal undulation, MSSH was converted to gravity anomaly. the result shows that the gravity anomaly derived from satellite altimeter data can be mapped to an accuracy of the surface ship gravity measurements. The data used for the conversion is the two-year mean sea surface height obtained from GEOSAT Exact Repeat Mission. The conversion was carried out using fast Fourier transform with plane approximation. In this process, the so called remove-restore method was employed.

  • This paper is a research for removing the alternators hunting which came about during the par-allel running. The four-pole six-phase alternator is equipped with the converter made out of twelve diodes to rectify all the waves. The hunting came about during the battery charging due to the hunting inducing point existed in r. p. m band 1575[rpm-1690[rpm] To remove the hunting inducing point We modified the four-pole six-phase alternator into the four-pole twevel-phase and increased the short-circuit ratio by decreasing the field coil pitch and increasing the field coil turns. But this method has two defects the first the alternator structure becomes complicating and the second the second the alternator equipped with the converter used in general purpose lately such as the car alternator can not be run in parallel wlthout modifying. To remove the defects the equalizing line was connected between the same phase of the alterna-tor to flow the synchronizing current which syncronize the phases of generator electromotive forces by which the alternator can be run in parallel without reference to the hunting inducing point and without modifying.

  • In most intracranial surgery cases, a drain catheter is inserted to prevent the collection of the wound hematoma or seroma. A drain catheter is also inserted to drain the hematoma or the cerebrospinal fluid. The drain catheter itself does not cause complications; but many complications occur during its removal, such as hematoma, seroma, air collection and pseudomeningocele formation. To prevent these complications, neurosurgeons perform a suture on the catheter to remove the site. In this study, an additional horizontal mattress suture and an anchoring suture to the drainage catheter are proposed. This method maintains negative pressure in the catheter insertion site during the catheter removal, compresses the catheter tunnel site and attaches the external wounds strongly. The technique is easy and safe to perform, and does not require an additional suture to remove the catheter.

  • When users use medical volume rendering applications, selecting specific region of volume data and observing the region by magnification is a common process. As the wood-grain artifact is arise from the magnified image, the jittered sampling technique has been used to remove the problem. However, the jittered sampling leads to some noise along the volume edge. In this research, we reveal the reason of the noise, and present a solution. To remove the wood-grain artifact without the noise, we propose the empty space jittering and the sampling alignment method. Using these methods, we can produce high quality volume rendering images without noticeable time consuming.

  • According to the development of information and communication technology, a great deal of researches have been taken in image digital processing field. And for earning the standard level of images, to remove noises such as impulse noise has became a essential demand. In those algorithms which remove impulse noise effectively, the standard median (SM) filter is representative. However, it has a disadvantage to degrade the quality of overall image by occurring errors in the edge domain. Therefore, in this paper, to restore the corrupted image by impulse noise, a nonlinear spatial filter based on Min-max operation was proposed and it was compared with conventional methods through simulations.

  • CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) has many industrial applications due to its low weight and high strength properties. Due to its superior properties, for example, excellent resistance to fatigue wear, corrosion, and breakage from fatigue, it has been widely applicable to aircraft, automotive, and medical industries and so on. The main machining for CFRP is drilling, and route milling. In case of drilling, the machining defects such as the delamination of each layer, uncut fiber, resin burning, spalling, and exit burrs are inevitable. The issue to remove such kind of defects is necessary to make CFRP parts successful. From this point of view, this paper investigates the removal effectiveness of machining defects existing at exit region with different type of tool geometries. Consequently, based on the experiments, the tool geometry is most impact factor to remove uncut fiber or resin.
