In this paper, the calibration problem of an asynchronous CDMA-based antenna array is studied. A new iterative calibration algorithm for antenna array in the presence of frequency offset error is presented. The algorithm is applicable to a non-linear array and does not require a prior knowledge of the (direction of arrivals) DOAs of the signals of any user, and it only requires the code sequence of a reference user. The algorithm is based on the two step procedures, one for estimating both channel and frequency offset and the other for estimating the unknown array gain and phase. Consequently, estimates of the DOAs, the multi-path impulse response of the reference signal sources, and the carrier frequency offset as well as the calibration of antenna array are provided. The performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated by means of computer simulations and is verified by using field data measured through a custom-built W-CDMA test-bed.

Purpose: There is no established inspection system for composite wind blade during the fabrication stage even though the blades are one of the most important part at wind generation system, but phased array ultrasonic testing method has been continuously studied about wind turbine blade with composite. When wind turbine blade with complex shape by phased array probe is inspected, it is necessary to study for system keeping constant pressure using pressure device. Methods: In this paper, we propose constant pressure device for inspecting wind turbine blade by phased array ultrasonic test method. Design of the device controller is based on Hunt-Crossley model. We evaluate reliability of phased array ultrasonic inspection result that applicated constant pressure device. Result: Defect indication is precise and its error is small when constant pressure mechanism based on Hunt-Crossley model was used. Conclusion: When inspection is progressed using constant pressure mechanism, the reliability of composite wind blade inspection can be improved.

Research on calibration of array antenna has become a hot spot in the area of signal processing and it is necessary to obtain the phase mismatch of each antenna channel. This paper presents a new calibration method for an array antenna system. In order to calibrate the phase mismatch of each antenna channel, we used primary synchronization signal (PSS) which exists in LTE downlink frame. Primary synchronization signal (PSS) is based on a Zadoff-Chu sequence which has a good correlation characteristic. By using correlation calculation, we can extract primary synchronization signal (PSS). After extracting primary synchronization signal (PSS), we use it to calibrate and reduce the phase errors of each antenna channel. In order to verify the new array antenna calibration algorithm which is proposed in this paper, we have simulated the proposed algorithm by using MATLAB. The array antenna system consists of two antenna elements. The phase mismatch of first antenna and second antenna is calculated accurately by proposed algorithm in the experiment test. Theory analysis and MATLAB simulation results are shown to verify the calibration algorithm.
This study aims to optimize the DL-EPR test solution for duplex stainless steel S31083 using the Taguchi design. The test solution parameters applied to the Taguchi design are H2SO4, NaCl, KSCN concentration, and temperature. In the experimental design, an orthogonal array of 4 levels 4 factor L16(44) was used. Output values for the orthogonal array were used for resolution (degree of sensitization) and selective etch (Ia) values. The optimal test solution conditions were selected by comparing the normalized S/N ratio for the two reaction properties. As a result, the H2SO4 and NaCl were identified as the main factors influencing the sensitivity measurement, but the delta statistics showed that the KSCN concentration and temperature had relatively low influence. The optimal condition was identified as 1.5 M H2SO4+0.03 M KSCN+1.5M NaCl at 30 ℃. The degree of sensitization presented a tendency to depend on the heat treatment temperature and time in the optimal test solution. This investigation confirmed the possibility of optimizing the experiment solution for the DL-EPR test of stainless steel using the Taguchi technique.

We design, develope and test a parallel active polymer pen lithography (PPL) device, which consists of individually addressable elastomeric probe tips. The PPL array chip is fabricated using soft lithography method with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) material. Individual probe can be pneumatically actuated via a computer controlled interface. We demonstrate parallel writing with 16 individually addressed pens, with each pen producing a different pattern in the same run. The largest proof-of-concept array fabricated is $4{\times}4$ with a spacing of $250{\mu}m$ in both x and y axes.

This paper presents a novel calibration method for a base station system adopting an antenna array. The proposed technique utilizes Zadoff-Chu sequence, which is included in the LTE pilot signal periodically, in order to compute the phase characteristic of each antenna channel. As the Zadoff-Chu sequence exhibits an excellent autocorrelation characteristic, it is possible for the receiving base station to retrieve the Zadoff-Chu sequence transmitted from each mobile terminal. In addition, we can obtain the phase characteristic of each antenna channel, which is the ultimate goal of the calibration procedure. The proposed calibration algorithm has been implemented using an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). We have applied the proposed algorithm to an array consisting of 2 antenna elements for simplicity. the phase value implied to the first and second antenna path is very accurately calculated from the proposed procedure. From the experimental test, the proposed method provides accurate calibration results.

In this paper, we report the test results of a small-scale prototype that implements an analogue-beam-formed phased antenna array in the E-band. A four-channel dual-conversion receive RF module for 71~76 GHz frequency band has been developed and integrated with a linear end-fire antenna array. Measured performance is very close to the simulated results. An ad-hoc wireless communication system has also been demonstrated. Low BER was measured for an 8PSK data stream at 1.5 Gbps with the receive array beam formed in the direction of arrival of the transmitted signal. To our knowledge this is the first steerable antenna array reported to date in the E-band.

In this paper, an iterative subspace-based calibration algorithm for a CDMA-based antenna array in the presence of unknown gain and phase error is presented. The algorithm does not depend on the array geometry and does not require a prior knowledge of the Directions Of Arrival (DOA) of the signals. The method requires the code sequence of a reference user only. The proposed algorithm is based on the subspace method and root finding approach, and it provides estimates of the calibration vector, the DOA and the channel impulse response, by using the code sequence of a reference user. The performance of the proposed algorithm was investigated by means of computer simulations and was verified using field data measured through a custom-built W-CDMA test-bed. The data show that experimental results match well with the theoretical calibration algorithm. Also, teh study propose an efficient algorithm using the simulated annealing technique. This algorithm overcomes the requirement of initial guessing in the subspace-based approach.

This paper presents the design, fabrication and characterization of a 32 by 32 electroplated micromirror array on a glass, a low cost substrate. Approaches taken in this work for the fabrication of micromachined mirror arrays include a line addressing scheme, a seamless array design for high fill factor, planarization techniques of polymeric interlayers, a high yield methodology for the removal of sacrificial polymeric interlayers, and low temperature and chemically safe fabrication techniques. The micromirror is fabricated by aluminum and the size of a single micromirror is 200 $\mu\textrm{m}{\;}{\times}200{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$. Static deflection test of the micro-mirror has been carried out and pull-in voltage of 44V and releasing voltage of 30V was found.
This study investigates the effect of an included angle and heat flux on heat transfer of V-shape tube array having a horizontal upper tube. The test uses two stainless steel tubes with a smooth surface submerged under the water at atmospheric pressure. The angle varies from 2° to 24°. The heat transfer coefficient gets decreasing in consequence as the angle increases. The enhancement due to the lower tube is distinct as the heat flux is lower than 60 kW/㎡, where the effect of the convective flow is dominant. The present study and the published results show a similar tendency. Although the heat transfer coefficient for the present study is smaller than the symmetry case, enhanced heat transfer is observed compared to the tube array having a lower horizontal tube as the included angle is less than 10°.
