Urine NMR analyses made by use of an 80 MHz proton NMR spectrometer show that aromatic proton NMR signals appear in most censer patients'urine. On the assumption that the signals may be caused by the phenolic compound of tyrosine excreted in the urine, a jellied reagent is used for identifying them by observing the urine color reaction. It is observed that the reagent reacted to the cancer urine becomes red. Such a change of the urine color seems to indicate the substance of tyrosine. Recently an attempt to determine the reagent sensitivity an specificity of the urine of 69 persons including cancer and noncancer patients has been made. The results of the attempt are respectively 85.3% for sensitivity and 91.4% for specificity. This seems to show a possibility that the reagent can be used for the diagnosis.
Headspace volatile compounds of cold-stored and freeze-dried Krill Eupausia superba were analyzed to investigate their flavor qualities using a system combining a dynamic headspace isolator, an automatic thermal desorber, and a gas chromatograph-mass-selective detector. Levels of oxidation products of polyunsaturated fatty acids such as aldehydes, alcohols, and ketones, which are known to give seafood a nasty smell because of their low flavor threshold values, increased during cold storage of krill. Notably, levels of 2-methylpropanal, 3-methylbutanal, 2-methylbutanal and 2-butanone increased during its storage. They can be considered index compounds of off-odor according to freshness degradation during storage. By contrast, in freeze-dried krill powder, levels of aldehydes, ketones, and aromatic compounds decreased rapidly. Only alcohols, which did not greatly affect the food flavor, were isolated in large amounts. It was confirmed that levels of oxidized compounds of krill increased during cold storage, but decreased in freeze-dried krill.
In this study, the incineration of MEK and toluene was studied on a Pt supported alumina catalyst at temperature range from 200 to $350^{\circ}C$. An approach based on the Mars-van Krevelen rate model was used to explain the results. The object of this study was to study the kinetic behavior of the platinum catalyst for deep oxidation. The conversions of MEK and toluene were increased as the inlet concentration was decreased and the reaction temperature was increased. The maximum deep conversion of MEK and toluene were 91.81% and 55.69% at $350^{\circ}C$, respectively. The ${\kappa}_3$ constant increases with temperature faster than the ${\kappa}_1$ constant, that is, the surface concentration of ($VOCs{\cdots}O$) is higher than that of (O) at higher temperature according to the Mars-van Krevelen mechanism. Also the activation energy of toluene was larger than MEK for toluene is aromatic compound which have stronger bonding energy. Therefore, the catalytic incineration kinetics of MEK and toluene with Mars-van Krevelen mechanism could be used as the basic data for industrial processes.

Propamidine, an aromatic diamidine compound, is widely used as an antimicrobial agent. To uncover its mechanism on pathogenetic fungi, Botrytis cinerea as an object was used to investigate effects of propamidine in this paper. The transmission electron microscope results showed that the mitochondrial membranes were collapsed after propamidine treatment, followed that mitochondria were disrupted. Inhibition of whole-cell and mitochondrial respiration by propamidine suggested that Propamidine is most likely an inhibitor of electron transport within Botrytis cinerea mitochondria. Furthermore, the mitochondrial complex III activity were inhibited by propamidine.

A Southern-hybridization analysis and size-selected DNA library screening led to the isolation of a 6.3-kbp S. setonii DNA fragment, from which the Cl20-encoding genetic locus was found to be located within a 1.4-kbp DNA fragment. A complete nucleotide sequencing analysis of the 1.4-kbp DNA fragment revealed a 0.84-kbp ORF, which showed a strong overall amino acid similarity to the known high-G+C gram-positive bacterial mesophilic C120s. The heterologous expression of the cloned 1.4-kbp DNA fragment in E. coli demonstrated that this Cl20 possessed a thermophilic activity within a broad temperature range and showed a higher activity against 3-methy1catechol than catechol or 4-methy-catechol, but no activity against protocatecuate.
Polyhydroxyamides derivatized with trifluorormethyl ether and trifluoromethyl ester groups were investigated as possible candidates for a new flame retardant polymer. Model compounds for these derivatized polyhydroxyamides were synthesized and their cyclization chemistry was investigated. The model compound study revealed that trifluorornethyl ester group containing model compounds can cyclize on heating, while trifluoromethyl ether group containing model compounds cannot. The non-fluorinated ether and ether derivatives behaved similarly. The trifluoromethyl ester derivatized polyhydroxyamides were synthesized according to the procedures for the model compounds. TGA characterization revealed that the fluorinated polymers have nearly same thermal stability as the underivatized PHA after cyclization.
A new type of cross-linked methylaluminoxane (MAO)-supported cocatalyst has been prepared by the reaction of a soluble MAO and a cross-liking agent such as an aromatic diamine compound. The cross-linked MAO-supported cocatalyst was used for the polymerization of ethylene in the presence of bis(n-butylcyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride, (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$. The catalyst activity of (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$ cocatalyzed with the new supported cocatalyst was higher than that of the commercial silica-supported MAO (SMAO) cocatalyst. The molecular weight and the bulk density of the polyethylene produced by using the new supported cocatalyst were slightly higher than those of polyethylene synthesized using commercial SMAO. The resulting polyethylene particles possess spherical morphologies with very few fine particles.
p-Chloronitrobenzene(substrate) and p-nitrophenetole (product) were quantitatively analyzed to know the degree of extent of reaction in the process of time. The calibration curve was prepared by the internal satndard method in gaschromatography. 2,6-Dimethyl-naphthalene was used as internal standard. The rate constant(k), the reaction velocity in various concentrations of NaOH altered, and the formation of byproducts(azo-compound and p-nitrophenol) with the amounts of MnO$_{2}$ and NaOH altered, were studied. From the results of these of MnO$_{2}$ and NaOH altered, were studied. From the results of these experiments, this reaction was second order and the rate constant was k=10.3 $\times$ 10$^{-3}$ mole$^{-21$. When p-chloronitrobenaene 1 pt. NaOH 0.56pts. MnO$_{2}$ 0.5pts. and ethanol 25 pts-were reacted about 10 hours, p-nitrophenetole was nearly quantitatively obtained without byproducts.
Reaction of ethyl 4-chloro-2-phenylpyrimidine-4-carboxylate (4) with 5-chloro-2-methylthiophenol or 3-aryl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 4-triazole-5 thiol yielded the corresponding thioethers (5) and (8a, b), respectively. Careful alkaline hydrolysis of (5) yielded the corresponding carboxylic acid (6). Reaction of (4) with p-aminoacetophenone yielded compound (10) which was reacted with certain aromatic aldehyde to afford the$\alpha,\beta$-unsaturated ketones (11a-d). Condensation of (11a-d) with malononitrile or phenylhydrazine yielded the 2-amino-3-cyanopyridines (12a-f) or the 2-pyrazolines (13a, b) respectively. Seven representative compounds were tested for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against some pathogenic micro-organisms, some of them were proved to be active.
