The purpose of this study is to derive a major trend through exhaustive search of papers contained in "Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society" that has been published for 40 years. Therefore, 1,365 papers published in "Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society" from 1974 to 2013 were analyzed. The analysis criteria include detailed subject and joint research status, research fund supporting, research area etc. The analysis results are as follows. First, as for research topics, papers on library and information science were the most, 452 papers followed by resource organization, 213 papers. The rest was found in the order of information service 188, information science 155 papers, reading guidance 101, library management 91, bibliography 84, collection development 58, archives and records management 20 papers. Through this, it was analyzed that information science is on an increasing trend while bibliography is on an decreasing trend and records management shows sluggish production. Second, as for research fund supporting, it turned out that 428 papers were funded and 315 papers among them were supported by the university while the remaining 108 papers were supported by the government. Third, joint research is on an increasing trend and unlike the fact that there have been no papers for early, papers were found to increase up to 303 papers for recent. Fourth, unlike the early phenomenon concentrated in Daegu, research areas showed even distribution throughout the country in recent years. This showed that it has grown from certain area-based academic journal to nationwide academic journal.

Background Jeju Island is geographically and socioeconomically distinct from the mainland of South Korea. Thus, the presentation and management of non-melanocytic skin cancers (NMSC) of the head and neck may differ from those in other regions of the country. We compared the clinical characteristics and treatment modalities of NMSC on Jeju Island with the findings of similar regional studies. Methods Patient data, including age, sex, diagnosis, tumor site, treatment, and recurrence, were obtained from the medical and pathology records of patients diagnosed with NMSC between January 2010 and June 2015. Results In total, 190 patients (57 men) with a mean age of 75 years (range, 42-97) were assessed. Overall, 203 NMSCs were diagnosed, including 123 basal cell carcinomas and 80 squamous cell carcinomas. The tumor sites included the nose, cheeks, periorbital area, and lips (n=55, 54, 25, and 20, respectively). We identified 92 T1-stage and 60 T2-stage tumors, and 120 cases were treated with wide surgical resection and 17 cases were treated with radiation therapy at the medical center. Of the 120 cases treated surgically, 69 required reconstructive surgery using a local skin flap, 22 required full-thickness skin grafting, and 12 underwent primary closure. Basal and squamous cell carcinomas recurred in 2 and 1 cases, respectively. Conclusions Compared to the reports from other regions, the average patient age was 10 years higher, with a marked female preponderance. While the proportion of squamous cell carcinoma was higher than in other regions, the tumor distribution and surgical management profiles were similar.

This study proposed to assess courses which are currently offered in the Department of Library and Information Science, and to explore directions for improvement. Based on field librarians' needs and opinions about the courses, we suggested separating the required, core, and elective courses. We proposed six courses including 'Internship', 'Introduction to Library and Information Science', 'Cataloging and Classification', 'Library Management', and 'Information Retrieval' as required courses, and 5 courses including 'Practice in Cataloging and Classification', 'Information Resource and Service', 'Collection Development', 'Digital Library System', 'Introduction to Bibliography' and 'Records Management and Archives' as core courses. Finally, the remaining courses were recommended as selective courses which each department could select depending on their circumstances and faculty. The important components for substantial LIS courses are as follows: timeliness of training topics, expertise of educational contents, professionalism and qualifications of faculty, specialized educational materials, and increasing the major correlation between courses and professors.
Purpose: In accordance to an increased interest in facial appearance and the popularization of computed tomography scanning, the number of diagnosis and treatment of blowout fractures has been increased. The purpose of this article is to review pure blowout fracture surgery through transconjunctival incision focusing on complications and their management. Methods: In this retrospective study, 583 patients, who had been treated for pure blowout fracture through transconjunctival incision from 2000 to 2009, were evaluated. Their hospital records were reviewed according to their sex, age, fracture site, preoperative presentations, time interval between trauma and surgery, and postoperative complications. Results: According to postoperative follow-up results, there were early complications that included wound dehiscence and infection (0.2%), hematoma (insomuch as extraocular movement is limited) (0.7%), lacriminal duct injury (0.5%), and periorbital nerve injury (0.7%). In addition, there were late complications that lasted more than 6 months, that included persistent diplopia (1.7%), extraocular movement limitation (0.9%), enophthalmos (1.0%), periorbital sensation abnormalities (1.0%), and entropion (0.5%). Conclusion: We propose the following guidelines for prevention of postoperative complications: layer by layer closure; bleeding control with the epinephrine gauzes, Tachocomb, and Tisseel; conjunctival incision 2 to 3 mm away from punctum; avoidance of excessive traction; performing surgical decompression and high dose corticosteroid therapy upon confirmation of nerve injury; atraumatic dissection and insertion of Medpor Barrier implant after securing a clear view of posterior ledge; using Medpor block stacking technique and BioSorb FX screw fixation; performing a complete resection of the anterior ethmoidal nerve during medial wall dissection; and making an incision 2 to 3 mm below the tarsal plate.
Background Although plastic surgeons daily encounter various facial tumors in the field, reports limited on face are scarce. In our study, we want to provide basic epidemiologic data to help clinicians to decide the proper management for their patients. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients including age and gender, location and size of the tumor, histopathologic result, recurrence, type of anesthesia and any associated disorders who had undergone a surgical removal of their facial tumors and received the histopathologic report in the same institution between January 2009 and October 2012. Results One hundred eighty-nine patients with 203 non-melanocytic benign tumors were included. The most frequent site of tumors was the central subunit of the forehead, followed by the lateral subunit of the cheek and the auricular unit. Of 36 different histopathologic results, the epidermal cyst was most frequent, followed by lipoma, pilomatricoma and osteoma. Statistical analysis showed that males were dominant in the epidermal cyst and lipoma groups. While, females were dominant in the osteoma and pilomatricoma groups. No associations were found between lesions and other diseases. Conclusions Our study is the at most specific and concentrated study on non-melanocytic benign tumors of the face. We expect the epidemiologic data of our study may help plastic surgeons who are confronted with so many facial lesions in the field to decide on the most proper management for their patients.
The purpose of this study is to provide balanced view for official documents of Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee and to establish theoretical base which assesses them in order to devise systematization of utilizing Olympic historical material. In order to conduct this study, archival appraisal and appraisal theories of archival study were investigated, and the characteristics of official documents of Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee were examined. Based on these works, criteria and procedure were established with exploring the methods to assess the Seoul Olympic official documents. The details are as follows below. The prior research task conducted in this study was to understand penetrative analysis for archival structure, relationship between this analysis and the assessment, and tendency of appraisal methods which have been developed. Then, representative theories and general criteria and procedure of archival appraisal have been explored in order to grasp the concrete method of individual theories. Secondly, characteristics of Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee's official documents have been identified to apply archival appraisal theories which have been found through the theoretical examination. Furthermore, suitable method has been explored, and the criteria and procedure have been presented in order to assess the official documents of Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee with generally considering of its characteristics. The significance of this study which came up with the study result above can be presented as follows. Lastly, in order to develop sports history field and related studies, it is necessary to utilize archival theories for managing and using archives in sports field, and to precede the general and overall studies about it.
Purpose: The dog bite injury is expected to increase as westernizing lifestyle and the number of pet raisers increase. The bite injuries may cause serious sequelae. The purpose of this study is to contributes to establish a suitable management and treatment principle for domestic situation with a clinical analysis data of the dog bite injuries. Methods: We reviewed the hospital records of 76 patients with dog bite injuries who were treated in the emergency unit or out patient department of our hospital from January 2000 to May 2006. Results: The majority of patients were children less than 10 years of age, 21 case(27.6%). Injuries occurred most often in May and 14 patients(18.4%) were bitten by the kinds of Cockerspaniel. By Lackmann's classification, 36 patients(47.4%) had Stage I injuries, 27 patients (35.5%) Stage II, 11 patients(14.5%) Stage III and 2 patients(2.6%) Stage IVa. The most frequent injury site was the head and neck area with 55 cases(72.4%). Also, 58 cases(76.3%) were received the initial treatment within 30 minutes after being bitten and the most of case except emergency operation repaired within 3 days. Conclusion: The dog bite injuries increased by more than 20% every year over the study period and it says that it may continue to increase more in the future. However, There are little report or literature for suitable management and treatment principle for domestic situation. The authors think this clinical analysis data and treatment experience can be useful for establishing a suitable treatment principle for domestic situation.
Documentation strategy has been experimented in various subject areas and local regions since late 1980's when it was proposed as archival appraisal and selection methods by archival communities in the United States. Though it was criticized to be too ideal, it needs to shed new light on the potentialities of the strategy for documenting local regions in digital environment. The purpose of this study is to analyse the implementation issues of documentation strategy and to suggest the directions for documenting local regions of Korea through the application of the strategy. The documentation strategy which was developed more than twenty years ago in mostly western countries gives us some implications for documenting local regions even in current digital environments. They are as follows; Firstly, documentation strategy can enhance the value of archivists as well as archives in local regions because archivist should be active shaper of history rather than passive receiver of archives according to the strategy. It can also be a solution for overcoming poor conditions of local archives management in Korea. Secondly, the strategy can encourage cooperation between collecting institutions including museums, libraries, archives, cultural centers, history institutions, etc. in each local region. In the networked environment the cooperation can be achieved more effectively than in traditional environment where the heavy workload of cooperative institutions is needed. Thirdly, the strategy can facilitate solidarity of various groups in local region. According to the analysis of the strategy projects, it is essential to collect their knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm of related groups to effectively implement the strategy. It can also provide a methodology for minor groups of society to document their memories. This study suggests the directions of documenting local regions in consideration of current archival infrastructure of Korean as follows; Firstly, very selective and intensive documentation should be pursued rather than comprehensive one for documenting local regions. Though it is a very political problem to decide what subject has priority for documentation, interests of local community members as well as professional groups should be considered in the decision-making process seriously. Secondly, it is effective to plan integrated representation of local history in the distributed custody of local archives. It would be desirable to implement archival gateway for integrated search and representation of local archives regardless of the location of archives. Thirdly, it is necessary to try digital documentation using Web 2.0 technologies. Documentation strategy as the methodology of selecting and acquiring archives can not avoid subjectivity and prejudices of appraiser completely. To mitigate the problems, open documentation system should be prepared for reflecting different interests of different groups. Fourth, it is desirable to apply a conspectus model used in cooperative collection management of libraries to document local regions digitally. Conspectus can show existing documentation strength and future documentation intensity for each participating institution. Using this, documentation level of each subject area can be set up cooperatively and effectively in the local regions.

Various applications running in computers exchange information in the form of packets through the network. Most packets are formatted into UDP/IP or TCP/IP standard. Network management administrators of enterprises and organizations should be able to monitor and manage packets transmitted over the network for Internet traffic measurement & monitoring, network security, and so on. The goal of this paper is to analyze the performance of several algorithms which closely examine and analyze payloads in a DPI(Deep Packet Inspection) system. The main procedure of packet payload analysis is to quickly search for a specific pattern in a payload. In this paper, we introduce several algorithms which detect a specific pattern in payloads, analyze the performance of them from three perspectives, and suggest an application method suitable for requirements of a given DPI system.
This study examined the factors that influence the use of YouTube-based home training contents by integrating and applying the technology acceptance model and health belief model. The main results are as follows. First of all, it was found that personal innovativeness had a positive (+) effect on perceived ease and perceived usefulness. Perceived susceptibility did not have a significant effect on perceived usefulness, and perceived benefit had a positive (+) effect on perceived usefulness. Finally, it was found that perceived ease had a positive (+) effect on perceived usefulness, Both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were found to have a positive (+) effect on continuous intention to use. This study will be meaningful in that it partially reconfirmed the possibility of integrating the technology acceptance model and the health belief model.
