This research investigates the design process of free-form architecture to understand the design strategy and changing factors during the development phase and the cause for them. It is aimed to foresee the changing factors from the design process and to reduce design changes. It analyzes the design changes of free-form architecture based on projects with finalized documentation or under construction in South Korea. Many free-form shapes of the free-form architectures have to be adjusted to rigid-form in order to satisfy function and be economical to build. The research finds three patterns in design changes. First, from the factors for design changes: function, constructability, design, program add/subtract, efficiency, circulation; Function and Constructability are the higher factors compared with the rest. The two are the design changes suitable for actual usage and cost savings. Second, each project has different predominant factors for design changes as the degree of free-form is different. Contrary to initial expectation, the greater the degrees of free-form of the competition scheme, the higher the rate of Function among the factors for design changes. Constructability is higher when the degree of the free-form is less than others. It means that the lower the degree of the free-form, the more properly planned the space of the building is. Last, Constructability of free-form architecture is considered during the earlier design phase than definite-form, one by which the design changes by comparing 'Before fixed Space Program' (BSP) and 'After fixed Space Program' (ASP) design changes. The research would be helpful as a reference for setting up competition guidelines to reduce trial and error during the design process.
FORM(Feature-Oriented Reuse Method) is one of representative product line engineering methods. The essence of FORM is the FORM architecture models, which can be reused in the development of multiple products of a software product line. The FORM architecture models, however, have the following problems when applied in practice. First, they are not standardized models like UML(Unified Modeling Language) and therefore they can be constructed only through a specific modeling tool. Second, they do not represent architectural variability explicitly. Instead their variability is only managed through a mapping from a feature model. To address these two problems, we developed at first a method for representing the FORM architecture models using UML, which enables the FORM architecture models to be constructed through various available UML modeling tools. Also, we developed an effective method for representing as well as managing the variability of the FORM architecture models through a mapping from a feature model.

Starting in modern times by Le Corbusier, architectures made by concretes are still developing in these times. For several decades, the shape of box architecture has been the most familiar type of buildings. Of course "The concrete is the type of box building" isn't always right, but what we have most seen was the buildings which has been stylized and made by concretes. Through modern times to these days based on international style and functionalism, the type of box building was the most effective and good profit type of architecture which has not disregarded the capitalism. Free-form building are becoming a common place, and many of these are designed and constructed using sophisticated techniques. The main technique being used is Generative Technology of Form for free-form construction. People's interest is growing in this, and it is becoming widely used both abroad and domestically. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of Generative Technology of Form which is a digitally adapted design methodology in architecture. The digital design process used for contemporary buildings share many typical features that exist within a standard digital template, but also an increasing amount of mass customization that has to be produced at an additional cost. This paper will summarize these features in terms of free-form architecture, and in terms of the digital design process. In fact, 3D models have to be conceded as main design products considering features of Free Form Design Architecture. However it is practical to design twice over, because all forms of architectural drawings are 2D. From now on, design of Free Form Design Building is not to separate between design process and practical process, but to compound them as unified design system applied the process to communicate information interactively. For this, it should be required to impose unified digital design process and perform researches about effective way to apply in the field of Free-form Design Architecture.
There are various which organize architectural forms. The concept of Collage is one of the ways to understand various situation in the Contemporary Architecture and the needed to be underrtood to solve problems in architecture, painting, sculpture etc. Formal characteristic of collage aesthetics proposed by the Cubism appeared to a creative element for a new form in the trends of architecture. Results of this study are as follows. In the Housing Architecture, The Collage is trasposed to the subjective form thanthe general form, and is used as a method to solve problems such as a perception in interior and exterior spaces and urban contexts.

New technologies using a CNC machine are being developed to reduce the production cost of free-form buildings. For production of free-form members using such technologies, vast free-form buildings should be first split into multiple panels that are productible. Taking into consideration of the curved surface of free-form members, the segmented free-form panels may vary in shape and size, which may cause a lot of errors. In addition, it is time-consuming for the work. However, the current panelizing work is completed with the trials and errors of engineers and architectural designers even in large-scale projects, which results in increased construction duration and cost. Thus, it is necessary to develop a technology for panelizing free-form panels so as to maximize the economic feasibility of production technologies for free-form concrete members. The study intends to develeop automatic panelizing algorithms of free-form buildings considering the curved surface and size of free-form panels and the production conditions. The developed algorithms will be useful in applying the production technologies of free-form buildings using CNC machine and reducing the cost.
This study tried to analyze the composition relation of a form in Korean traditional architecture through the viewpoint of visual perception and through the analysis by the number and quantity, and to analyze and implied relationship between the form composition of the traditional architecture and the principles of perception in the contemporary viewpoint by reviewing all the aspects on how to be perceived. Architecture has been studied in the relationship of the form and the space both existing together, so has Korean traditional architecture. But in the present condition with the construction norm of the traditional architecture-well known for its beauty in shape-and documents not existing, so that the study on Korean traditional architecture in the aspects of the form has to be undertaken on the basis of researching the existing architecture theoretically and architecture-relating documents actually. Therefore this study tries to review the mathematical principle and the ideological background of those days, and the attitude of ancestors treatment to the architecture by researching the existing architectural figure. Using mathematical analysis method with the basis of the above synthetically, this study aims at the analysis in the aspects of the visual perception on the form of Korea an traditional architecture.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the structural system used in modern architecture and the form and spatial composition of the buildings. The principle in stabilization of structures is closely related to the architectural form. That is, in order to stabilize a building, a special type of structural system is required and consequently shows up with consistent characteristics in the architectural form. Modern architecture can be classified into skeleton structure, trusses structure, and space structure according to the structural characteristics. Skeleton structure is then divided into a perpendicular form and tapered form. Trusses structure is categorized as dome-shaped structure and slab-shaped structure, and space structure can be divided into compressible space structure and tensile space structure. When classifies the modern building with the aspect of architectural effect, there is a possibility of trying to divide with effect of production, and its expression. Effect of production mean structural system and effect of expression mean space and plan.

There are various which organize architectural forms. The mutual relationship between fashion and architecture and the similarities in their form and structure have been continuously debated over the decades, considering that both spheres are objects used in human life. Both spheres bring about the creation of three-dimensional space structures that are completed by the human body and material, based on a design targeted for people. The similarities between fashion and architecture in terms of form and structure have been debated by western architecture scholars focusing on the support that holds the garment's shape, the tailoring of a men's suit and also the material. The debate originates from the discussion of F. Th. Vischer, Kritische Gnge, and Gottfried Semper during the nineteenth century on the similarities between crinoline and the form of architecture and also the similarities between sewing and architecture. However, architects always regarded fashion as the inferior creative process that follows architecture in viewing the relationship between fashion and architecture. During the mid to end of the twentieth century, contrary to previous decades, the sense of fashion in architecture stood out, as an issue and a different approach was taken in discussing architecture that incorporates fashion. Accordingly, in the mid 1990's, architecture scholars such as Deborah Fausch and Mark Wigley began to conduct close observation of the mutual relationship between fashion and architecture from a more equal point of view. Notwithstanding, their point of view was still biased towards architectural standards. Commencing the Millennium, fashion has become the primary work of creation which leads style in all spheres, and under these circumstances this point of view has transferred from architecture to fashion when thinking about relationships between these spheres. The discussion on fashion and architecture form fashion's point of view is currently concentrated on the post 1990's phenomenon and illustrates the environment that is related to architecture. In general, the discussion is limited to determining a work of an individual designer as 'being architectural' when explaining the sculptural form of fashion. Therefore, this research aims to renew the discussion on twentieth century fashion design, which was neglected in any studies on observing architecture and fashion. The aim of this research is to classify the architectural paradigm of twentieth century fashion design and to observe the architectural forms of the respective eras. It is necessary to have a close observation of the architectural paradigm in twentieth century fashion design where support tools such as the crinoline was avoided and the form and functionality of the garment itself was emphasized. I will conduct this research by considering the architectural form shown in fashion as a practical three-dimensional creation that exists in space.

Chaos theory, qualitative study of unstable aperiodic behavior in deterministic nonlinear dynamical systems, is dominant paradigm in the twenty first century. Fractal geometry, as an expressed form of chaos, now influences many areas such as architecture, art, music, economics, literature, etc. The purpose of this study is to analyze fractal geometry and fractal formative elements in architectural design. There are scaling, superimposition, distortion, deformation and repetition in the fractal form generator that can be applied to design concept and process in architecture. This study shows fractal geometry can be the architectural form creation method. Fractal geometry similar to nature's patterned order can be provided endless possibilities for design analysis and methodology in architecture. Therefore the further study of fractal geometry should progress synthetically through the basis of the study.
