A survey of small-size contractors in Jeju was conducted to investigate college graduate's CAD (computer aided design) competence. Most of small-size contractors use CAD softwares to review and update drawings submitted from an architect. This research analyzed the curriculum of the architectural engineering in several national universities. The CAD classes have 4 or 6 hours per week and use AutoCAD primarily. This research proposes that a CAD class needs at least 6 hours per week, 2D drawing is the main theme in the curriculum, and exercises to make 3D models are also included in the CAD class. The improved methods, Internet cafe and real time feedbacks using a smartphone, to evaluate the reports and exercise results are necessary.
We propose an efficient method to determine the position of blueprint by using a vector field with optimized MLS(Moving Least Squares). Typically, a professional architectural design office takes a long time to work as well as a high processing cost because the designer manually determines the location to place the buildings in a specific area. In order to solve this inefficient problem, we propose a method to automatically determine the location of the blueprint based on the optimized MLS method. In the proposed framework, the designer selects the desired region in the actual city data and calculates the flow of the vector based on the region. Use the optimized MLS method to extract the vector field and determine the amount of rotation of the drawing based on this field. The location of the blueprint determined by the proposed method is very similar to the flow seen when the actual building is located. As a result, the efficiency of the overall architectural design process is further improved by reducing the designer's inefficient workforce.

The purpose of this study is to propose a modeling methodology through the exchange of coordinate data of a three-dimensional custom curtain wall panel between Rhino and Revit, and to examine the validity of the model implemented in the drawing. Although the modeling means and method are different, a fundamental principle is that all three-dimensional modeling begins by defining the position of the points, the most primitive element of geometry, in the XYZ coordinate space. For the BIM modeling methodology proposal based on this geometry basic concept, the functions and characteristics associated with the points of Rhino and Revit programs are identified, and then BIM implementation process model is organized and systemized through the setting of the interoperability process algorithm. The BIM implementation process model proposed in this study is (1) Modeling and panelizing surface into individual panels using Rhino and Grasshopper; (2) Extraction of vertex coordinate data from individual panels and create CSV file; (3) Curtain wall modeling through Adaptive Component Family in Revit and (4) Automatic creation of Revit curtain wall panels through API. The proposed process model is expected to help reduce design errors and improve component and construction quality by automatically converting general elements into architectural meaningful information, automating a set of processes that build them into BIM data, and enabling consistent and integrated design management.

Recently BIM technology has been expanded for using in construction project. However its spread has been delayed than the initial expectations, due to the high-cost of BIM infrastructure development, the lack of regulations, the lack of process and so forth. In design phase, especially, collaboration based on BIM system has being a key factor for successful next generation building project. Through the analysis of current research trend about IT technologies, virtualization and BIM service, data exchange such as drawing, 3D model, object data, properties using cloud computing and virtual server system is defined as a most successful solution. In various industrial fields, cloud computing technology is utilized as a promising solution which can reduce time and cost of hardware infrastructure. Among the cloud computing technology, VDI is receiving a great deal of attention from it market as an essential part cloud computing. VDI enables to host multiple individual virtual machines by using hypervisor. It has an advantage to easy main device management. Therefore, this study implements a step-by-step user's DaaS by analyzing the desktop resource data of the workers from Pre-design phase to Schematic design, Design develop and Construction design phase. It also develops BIM environment based on test of BIM modeler and designers in architectural design firm. The goal of the study is to enable the cloud computing BIM server. It provides cost saving, high-performance quality of working environment and cooperation's convenience and high security when doing BIM work in small and medium sized architectural design firm.

The explosion in biological data resulting from high-throughput experiments requires new software tools to manipulate and display pathways in a way that can integrate disparate sources of information. A visual Java-based CAD tool for drawing and annotating biological pathways with semiautomatic image-processing features is described in this paper. The result of the image-editing process is an XML file for the appropriate links. This tool integrates the pathway images and XML file sources. The system has facilities for linking graphical objects to external databases and is capable of reproducing existing visual representations of pathway maps.
The skylines of many cities worldwide are still defined by the dominant and ubiquitous office blocks of the twentieth century. While there is consensus stating that future tall building typologies should depart substantially from these past models, the inheritance of large and obsolete tall office building stocks presents a problem of global significance. Too old for present corporate models, but too new for gaining public historical importance, the twentieth-century office tower is a typology under threat of extinction. However, the need for a culturally informed strategy of preservation for that generation of tall buildings is seldom advocated. Drawing evidence from the case of Melbourne, Australia, this article presents a methodological pathway to overcome pitfalls of memory and interpretation, which commonly prevent an unbiased assessment of the value and urban contribution of late-twentieth-century skyscrapers.
Even though the Korean intoner architecture market has constantly developed in the past on the basis of the economic and social growth, it has had a tough time for varied reasons since 1998. Restructuring in the construction industry is required due largely to both the lack of market demand which resulted from the foreign exchange crisis and managerial trouble which is getting worse as time goes by. In actual, as the social necessity for remodeling in skyrocketing, the remodeling is getting more acclaim. That is because old architecture generates a great amount of architectural trash, and it is necessary to look for ways to saute the energy. In the wake of these situations, the remodeling industry is drawing attention as an alternative to the marketable limitations of the existing construction industry. However, it is true that the remodeling market has yet to be activated decisively. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to provide a basis for entering into and activating the remodeling market of the interior architecture industry by analyzing the scale and recent conditions of the remodeling sector.

Recently, remodeling construction project has been prevalently conducted in major city areas in Korea. However, remodeling construction project has a difficulty in conducting a construction because of non-existing drawing or lack of drawing information. To solve these problems, modeling techniques by using reverse engineering have been widely studied in other industries such as aerospace and automobile industry. But reverse engineering techniques have not been used in remodeling construction projects because those technology haven't supplied less accuracy during required time for surveying. So, this study suggests optimal method of acquiring accurate 3D laser scanner information for reverse engineering at interior remodeling project.
The European architects including MVRDV, Rem Koolhaas, Van Berkel, and Zaha Hadid tend to use the their own design strategy based on the objective data. This Architectural design method leads to make new paradigm of contemporary architecture. For the purpose of the understanding a part of new architecture paradigm I will analyze the case of Villa VPRO designed by MVRDV. At the result, I can draw the following conclusions. First, through collecting and analyzing data, drawing design concept and planning the space program, they decided on the design strategies of Villa VPRO. They designed the space volume having 42.4m$\times$42.4m floors and infiltrated environmental elements to solve the problems about deep space. Second, Villa VPRO was constructed by 'creative space-making system: a series of floors much like a geological formation, the continuous floors interconnected by spatial means, the precision bombardments of snake-like holes, open elevations, the stacking spaces. Third, Villa VPRO produced the spectacle space effect the various formation of continuous floors make a lot of difference space types in this building. Also they lead to move naturally and give event space. A numbers of holes and openness make it possible to provide friendly environment with combining light and air with views of the surrounding and transparency. And using the method of stacking many types of space make the differences in height.

An architect creates his/her design to meet owner's requirements. Floor plans, perspective drawings, and scale models are used in order for the owner to choose the design. The tools are a little helpful for communication between the architect and the owner in case the owner does not know architecture. The scale models are good, but it is hard to make scale models while design is in progress. 3D CAD is a good tool for communication, but it is time-consuming and requires high-performance computer hardware. Augmented reality is able to show 3D virtual models that are updated by the architect with smart devices such as a smart phone and a tablet PC. The owner frequently reviews the updated design anytime anywhere. This study proposes a method to use augmented reality for architectural design and construction management. The method supports the communication between the owner, the architect and the contractor to review updated designs, and to complete the building project. 3D models expressed in augmented reality are created using SketchUp with 2D drawings for building construction. An Android application implementing augmented reality is developed by Qualcomm Vuforia and Unity on smart devices. Drawings as markers and 3D models are connected in Unity. And functions that temporarily hide unnecessary parts can be implemented in C# programming language. If an owner, an architect, or a contractor looks at a smart phone on a 2D drawing, he/she can identify building elements such as 3D buildings or columns on a screen. This can help communication between them.
