This study was analyzed and researched into each gradual properties of housing owner's decision making, for preservation of traditional scenery and search for the way its succession, on the basis of search of the rural area housing owner and the virtual research data. As a result of this study, public company should care and advertise significance of traditional scenery succession to housing owners and architectural planning offices, because the model what public company has been developed and distributed should not be ignored influence on the process of housing owner's decision making.

Healthcare facilities design in Korea actually has begun from the late 1960s and early 70s and accomplished unprecedented growth qualitatively and quantitatively. In the 1970s and the 80s, domestic healthcare design was greatly influenced by the Japanese. In the 1990s, under the competitive healthcare-market environment, great concerns were dominated to american healthcare facilities than the Japanese which have comparatively monotonous architectural forms. In the meantime, domestic healthcare architecture firms have continuously learned about design know-hows of the US, Japan and eve European countries. Now I would like to evaluate the they are stepping onto in level that can equally compete with the advanced foreign architectural design companies. This study, investigating and consolidating architects' ideas and contents which experienced in design processes of real projects in current healthcare field, is purposed to find characteristics in design work of healthcare facilities and share the experiences. Method of research executed questionnaires to 22 special designers who design each 20 healthcare facilities. Questionnaire attained form July to October, 2008. Hereafter, it is going to present adjusting design process for healthcare facilities by analyzing various debris that is made in the process with design results that is made through design process.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the possibility which can use as instrument of design by CAD system. And it proposes how makes 3D object model through 2D Drawings in Design process. This study has review the 'Study Drawing' in design process, and application method of CAD as the Architectural Design Integration System. The Architecture can work in ani of the traditional 2D representations as well as in 3D and immediate visual feedback of his work in isometric and perspective projrctions.

The use of various digital tools makes freeform modeling possible. At the same time, with the development of structural and construction technologies, Free-Form Architecture are beginning to be implemented realized, as the desired data extraction such as the size and coordinate points of the members is possible. Currently, in many cities around the world, Irregular-Shaped High-rise Buildings, which express the dynamic symbolism, are recognized for their landmark values. In order to realize the Irregular-Shaped High-rise Buildings, it is necessary to understand various fields such as the characteristics of digital tools, digital technique logic, design process, and construction method. In particular, it is important to plan Irregular-Shaped High-rise Buildings so that the various types of efficiency can be reviewed together, while generating understanding and formations from the initial design stage. Therefore, this study uses conceptual and parametric design tools related to form generation in digital architecture to analyze the details, methods, and characteristics of the Irregular-Shaped High-rise Buildings form generation process. In this paper, the parametric design tool is applied to study the various types of design and the process characteristics that can be considered in the initial design stage of the unstructured skyscraper.

To be the design method supporting aesthetic ability of human, CAAD system should essentially recognize architectural form in the same way of human. In this study, visual perception process of human was analyzed to search proper computational method performing similar step of perception of it. Through the analysis of visual perception, vision was separated to low-level vision and high-level vision. Edge detection and neural network were selected to model after low-level vision and high-level vision. The 24 images of building, tree and landscape were processed by edge detection and trained by neural network. And 24 new images were used to test trained network. The test shows that trained network gives right perception result toward each images with low error rate. This study is on the meaning of artificial intelligence in design process rather than on the design automation strategy through artificial intelligence.

This paper examines the interdisciplinary practice within design realms including urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture and interior design. It discusses the pedagogical approaches at design schools to foster designers capable of design challenge with interdisciplinary skills. As the complexity of contemporary multicultural society increasingly requires a higher level of expertise in professional service, no individual designer can be expert in all fragmented expertise across the whole design and associated engineering areas. A designer, therefore, should rely on the expertise of other practitioners in areas where he or she doesn't possess proficiency and educational background. From this sense the need of interdisciplinary approaches across diverse range of design and engineering through the collaboration is rising. Historically most of discussion made on interdisciplinary approaches is limited to collaboration between architecture and supporting engineering. This paper focuses on the collaboration with design realms. Three case studies done in an interdisciplinary firm are explored, focusing on design process that is non-linear and complementary. Finally the integrative pedagogical approaches to provide students with more exposure to allied disciplines are navigated with exemplary student work from interdisciplinary design studio.

Hospital architectures, as a function-oriented architecture, have a great influences on the functional program and spacial allocation for a great number of rooms and departments. Particularly, spacial allocating analysis is depends on various external forces, such as hospital-size, relationships for the others, ownerships, operating methods, long-term masterplan as well as researchers' methods. Furthermore, as there is focusing on architectural design basis rather than architectural planning In recent Korean architectural field, adequate analysing methodology of spacial allocation for the design process is needed. This paper analyzes architectural drawings for 8 Korean hospitals which constructed in recent 20 years in aspects of the spacial allocation for inner spaces and then, presents areal composition and pattern of spacial allocation for researching hospitals.

The Contemporary consumer society demands companies to emphasize more on the brand marketing that can deliver the brand identities distinguished from those of competing companies. In today's environment, the meaning of consumption is not only a simple purchase of a product, but also assimilation into images, experience and emotional aspects of the brand. The flagship stores of brands take the advantage of the tendency seriously and utilize the envelopes of the building as marketing catalysts to establish their brand identities. This paper aims to investigate the possibility of the architectural envelope as a marketing element to establish the brand identities, by analyzing the design techniques that enhance the visual effects utilizing innovative application of material, pattern and connection details. it is studied that the function of architectural envelope's change from past to recent date and role of architectural envelope as means of marketing for expression brand image in contemporary commerce space and elements that can be applied on architectural envelope with theoretical consideration about marketing and brand identity. Also this paper will research about experience elements because the process for consumers to recognize brand image with architecture is the process of visual experience. And through example research, this paper will study interrelationship between visual system of cognition to be expressed on architectural envelope.

The advent of BIM(Building Information Modeling) design process based on the digital media has brought innovation to the production and management of AEC industry. Accordingly the need for educating BIM professionals has been radically increased both in the real world practice and in academia. Some developed countries have already been studying and establishing the optimized curriculum in the academic architecture courses for BIM based education with multi_efforts using the digital media as design processing tools focused on educating architectural professionals with creativity and productivity. However in the domestic education systems, it is hardly found that researches and curriculums deal with the BIM education in the academia. Thus the objective of this paper is to investigate the architectural design pedagogy in the advanced digital media setting in response to the urgent need for BIM education. This study focuses on developing the curriculum based on practical adaptation of BIM programs for architectural education. It aims to provide students with the basic understanding of BIM theory and the practice of BIM tools as an instrument enhancing the creativity for architectural design. Thus this study proposes an BIM curriculum for the students who first encounter the notion and knowledge of BIM during their academic years. And the education result after the application of this curriculum has been analysed through the students questionnaires before and after the lecture.

Typology in Contemporary Architecture wants to escape from the classical typology that has the problems about specific program of structuralism, typical repeatation of customary form. As visible and non-visible things are appeared in contemporary architecture through the analysis of the inner system involving development process of changing itself, typology of contemporary is utilized at a tool of form generation in the process of architect. And it notes that the structural properties of the building system. The form of contemporary architecture has the new connecting strucure not reduced to existing ones. It carries out generative access as a device in order to solve the complexity of society. From this perspective, we analyze the process of projects of contemporary architects that can be typological strategy not representation of post geometric form but a tool of form generation in architectural process. As a result, we can find four characteristics of typology as a tool of form generation; 'interference and mix of program', 'continous slabs', 'rearrangement through relationship setting', 'transformation of multi-layers'. These are expanding to the process that reflect history and context or infer from morphology. Therefore, typology as architectural process of form generation overcomes morphological typology of classical typology and suggests that the different architectural approach having potential possibility.
