의료시설 설계의 건축지식자산에 대한 전문 건축가의 인식특성 종단연구 (A longitudinal study on the professional architects' recognition about the architectural knowledge assets of healthcare design)

  • This paper is a longitudinal study, comparing survey results between two time periods. A previous survey was conducted in 1999. After 10 years of the first survey, the second survey was conducted while utilizing the same questionnaire. A list of membership of Korea Institute of Heallthcare Architecture was used as a sampling frame. At the first survey in 1999, questionnaires of 27.3 percentage were returned, and 15.5 percentage in the 2008 survey. Healthcare design is one of the highly specialized design types in architecture. In addition, it is demanded highly specialized knowledge to solve healthcare design problems. As a professional service firm(PSF), architectural firm utilizes knowledge assets to provide design service to clients. Specialized knowledge in question is one of the core assets of PSF. The knowledge generates competitive advantages and plays an effective role as a marketing tool for PSF. However, empirical studies dealing with the knowledge characteristics of specialized design(healthcare) firms were hardly found. Thus, this study aims to trace the professional architects' perception of knowledge demands for task performance and architectural knowledge assets. The results can be used as a reference when a specialized firm in healthcare design initiates to build knowledge assets in it.

신규 제품아키텍처 개발을 위한 기업조직의 설계: PDA 개발에 있어 샤프와 카시오의 개발조직 비교 분석 (Organizational Design for New Product Architecture Development: Comparative Analysis of Sharp and Casio on PDA Development)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the organizational design and management of product development in creating new product architecture by an established firm. For the purpose, the paper put up the organizational design in the process of PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) development of Sharp and Casio which were Japanese major PDA firms in 1990s. PDA is the product born through architectural change from Electronic Organizer. Prior research on the product architecture change and organizational adaptation emphasized that an established firm is difficult to adapt to new product architecture due to the restriction of prior technology or organizational inertia. For overcoming these problems and successful development of new product architecture, organizational design and management in the process of product development becomes essential. In case of Sharp, corporate development project team had been used to overcome the restrictions from architectural knowledge accumulated through previous product. After launching first new PDA by corporate development project team, Sharp created a new division and pushed an evolution of PDA, when new PDA market start to grow up rapidly toward a major market segmentation. As a result, Sharp was able to build up stable PDA project trajectory. However, Casio was late for three years in launching of new PDA architecture because previous division charging of Electronic Organizer tried to develop first new PDA. Casio's PDA development was prohibited by engineers of previous division because new PDA architecture was inferior on user interface and display definition. That is, Casio's first PDA development was restricted by architectural knowledge of previous product.

  • 중소규모 설계사무소에서의 BIM(Building Information Modeling) 활용은 BIM 라이브러리 및 기술콘텐츠 등 요소 기술의 부재로 인하여 아직까지도 미흡한 실정에 놓여있다. BIM을 도입하고 활용하는 설계사무소의 기술적인 부담을 최소화하기 위해서는 BIM 라이브러리 및 기술 콘텐츠를 제공하고, 단일 BIM 정보를 다양한 용도로 공유 및 교환하는 체계가 필요하다. 왜냐하면 BIM 설계는 단순히 3D 형태로 건물의 외관만을 설계하는 것이 아니라 공사에 들어가는 물량을 산출하고, 자재 정보 등을 바탕으로 기술에 관한 설계정보 등을 제공할 수 있어야 하기 때문에 기술 콘텐츠의 마련이 필수적이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 설계 업무 단계에서 BIM 데이터와 기술 콘텐츠가 연계 사용될 수 있도록 시스템 모듈 개발을 통해 BIM 기술 콘텐츠를 보급함으로써 BIM 기반 설계 업무의 효율성을 높이는 데에 목적이 있으며, 개발된 BIM 기술 콘텐츠 데이터 활용 시스템 모듈을 통하여 BIM 저변이 확대될 수 있는 근간을 마련하고자 한다.

  • Healthcare facilities design in Korea actually has begun from the late 1960s and early 70s and accomplished unprecedented growth qualitatively and quantitatively. In the 1970s and the 80s, domestic healthcare design was greatly influenced by the Japanese. In the 1990s, under the competitive healthcare-market environment, great concerns were dominated to american healthcare facilities than the Japanese which have comparatively monotonous architectural forms. In the meantime, domestic healthcare architecture firms have continuously learned about design know-hows of the US, Japan and eve European countries. Now I would like to evaluate the they are stepping onto in level that can equally compete with the advanced foreign architectural design companies. This study, investigating and consolidating architects' ideas and contents which experienced in design processes of real projects in current healthcare field, is purposed to find characteristics in design work of healthcare facilities and share the experiences. Method of research executed questionnaires to 22 special designers who design each 20 healthcare facilities. Questionnaire attained form July to October, 2008. Hereafter, it is going to present adjusting design process for healthcare facilities by analyzing various debris that is made in the process with design results that is made through design process.

  • Integrating computer-aided design with computer-aided fabrication and construction will fundamentally redefine the relationship between design and construction. Rapid prototyping(RP) is evaluated as one of the integration method available but it has been regarded as very expensive and complex design evaluation tool and is only suitable for large mechanical design shops in automobile and aerospace industry. However current status of rapid prototyping is changing since the new generation of RP equipment, less expensive and more user-friendlier, now can be installed and use in design firms. Simultaneously increasing use of 3D CAAD software is also helping to use rapid prototyping widely. It is crucial to acknowledge rapid prototyping technologies are not only for avant-garde architect such as Frank O. Gehry but ordinary 90% architects, who can have benefit from fast and cost-effective technology. With its fast development and adaptation in architectural industry, it is quite necessary to include rapid prototyping education in regular CAAD courses either undergraduate or graduate level.

  • 지식서비스 산업은 지식의 생산, 가공, 활용을 통하여 부가가치를 창출하는 산업을 말한다. 지식 서비스 산업은 다른 서비스 산업에 비해 혁신 지향적이고 타 분야에 미치는 영향이 큰 특성을 지니지만, 이에 대한 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 지식 서비스를 창출하는 설계사무소의 기술 혁신의 필요성을 제기하며 건축설계사무소의 혁신 성과를 효율성 측면에서 분석하였다. DEA-Tier분석을 이용하여 건축설계사무소의 효율성의 크기에 따라 분류하고, 효율성 격차가 현저한 건축설계사무소들에게는 단기적, 중기적, 장기적인 관점에서의 실질적인 벤치마킹 경로까지 제시하여 향후 설계서비스업의 효율성 제고 전략 수립에 필요한 방법론을 제시하였다.

건축 내부 마감 자동 상세화를 위한 규칙 기반 모듈 구축 방안에 관한 연구 - 바닥, 벽 및 천장을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Establishment of Rule-Based Modules for Automating the Design of Interior Finishes in Architectural Buildings)

  • BIM facilitates data transparency and consistency through three-dimensional parametric modeling and promotes the accurate managing and sharing of project information. In Korea, however, BIM-based detailed design of architectural interior finishes required during the Construction Documents phase increases the burden on architectural firms due to frequent design changes and manual workload. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to establish rule-based modules using parametric modeling that automates repetitive tasks that occur during the detailed design of interior finishing. Interviews with practitioners were conducted to analyze the major finishing elements. Of these floors, walls, and ceilings, which were the most rudimentary and common items, were selected as the subjects of the study. The modules developed in this study have two functions. One is to create new finish types, and the other is the automatic modeling of new types into rooms. For these functions, parameters that belonged to each finish and room element in a BIM model were analyzed and valid parameters directly used for parametric modeling were derived. Then, based on these parameters, rule-based modules for three elements, I.e., floors, walls, and ceilings were constructed with Revit Dynamo, and the effectiveness of the modules was verified with a pilot test. In conclusion, this study suggested a series of processes for automatic finishing to improve the efficiency of BIM-based architectural detailed design of finishes and to contribute in solving the chronic problems occuring during current design processes.

DEA/AHP 결합모형을 이용한 건축 설계사무소의 교육효율성 분석 (Education Efficiency Analysis of Architectural Design Firms Using a Combined AHP and DEA Model)

  • 현대사회는 산업경제사회에서 지식기반사회로 급격히 변화되어 현대인에게 요구하는 지식과 기술의 변화를 따라가기 위하여 지속적인 학습 또는 교육을 받지 않으면 현대사회를 살아갈 수 없게 되었다. 건축 설계사무소의 경우 내부역량 향상에 초점을 맞춰 자체적인 교육을 실시하여 실무자의 능력을 배양함으로서 기업의 생산성을 향상시키는데 주력하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 최근 다양한 산업분야에서 재무비율 지표들을 활용한 자료포락분석(Data Envelopment Analysis, DEA)을 실시하여 기업의 효율성을 분석하고 있으며, 건설산업에서 또한 DEA를 활용한 효율성 분석 연구가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 건설산업의 경우 경영 효율성에만 초점을 맞춰 연구가 진행되었을 뿐 각 기업의 교육효율성 분석과 같은 특정 분야에 대한 접근이 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교육효율성과 관련된 선행연구와 전문가 인터뷰를 통한 변수 도출 및 계층적 분석방법(Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP)을 활용하여 투입 및 산출 변수를 선정한 후 DEA 모형을 활용하여 건축 설계사무소의 교육효율성을 분석하였다.

  • As one designs a building, one should have to consider its characters and functions according to its own use. Recently many professional buildings used to be designed by specialized design firms with their own experience and specialty to vitalize the functions of the buildings. Especially the design of the hospital is really needed more concern from the beginning of design ordering because it is pursuing the most specialty in architectural designs and therefore it can not be managed with general architects. The purpose of this study is to present the references for resonable promotions of hospital design in the future with the analysis of the suitability in hospital design ordering and the process after design competition in Korea.
