In recent, as rediscovery of the modern value is developed through the support by the government and the reinterpretation of the traditional culture, a Korean-style house(Hanok) also becomes an object of interest. Among these various viewpoints to see the Korean-style house, the necessity of a new spatial design approach to contain the types and functions of the architectural space of the Hanok appropriate to the modern society is raised which is not a passive approach to preserve the existing cultural assets. Out of the methods of the new spatial design of the Hanok which reflect the paradigm of the times, this study has the purpose to make an approach from the viewpoint of 'Restoration design'. As the 21 st century started, the recycle design whose active discussion and performance is made largely by Europe and Japan can be called a design method in the hardware part which enables continuous adaptive use of a building by applying a new use purpose and method to a building which doesn't use the recycle design or has low efficiency. In that meaning, it can be considered to be a very important architectural activity historically, archltecturally and spatially. Based on the methodological characteristics of the recycle design, this study largely divides the types of recycle into coherent recycle and imagery recycle and dedto s detailed methods of space, consinto ion and material and wardrobe used for each case to analyze the methods of concrete recycle design through the methodological analysis of recycle cases of the existing modern buildings. For the objects of recycle cases of the Hanok made recently based on the design methods acquired here, it was examined how the architectural and spatial characteristics of the Hanok can be reconsinto ed through what kinrecycmethods. The approach of the recycle design is considered to be a cornerstone to show a new architectural and spatial value in the viewpoint of the Hanok existence in modern times.

This research analyzes the involvement of hermeneutics in architectural history and theory studies and its pedagogy in the West after the 1950s. The research focuses on representative architectural schools in the West. In particular, this paper examines from the curricula of Joseph Rykwert and Dalibor Vesely at the University of Essex to their former students who played a significant role in expanding the history and theory courses in the late 20th century in the North America such as Alberto $P{\acute{e}}rez-G{\acute{o}}mez^{\prime}s$ (McGill University) and David Leatherbarrow (University of Pennsylvania). Through their leadership and other related architectural historians' efforts: 1) hermeneutics have been applied in architectural history studies from the critical perspectives of post-modern philosophy; 2) hermeneutics help stimulate discussions of thoughtful architectural design, enabling strong interactions between design theories and the embodied meanings of buildings; 3) these schools have produced and involved many prominent scholars who actively practice and develop the discourse of architectural history and theory from the perspectives of hermeneutics; 4) Finally, the hermeneutic approach in architectural history studies has enlightened many achieved architects' thoughtful design practice and theories within the emerging context of regional criticism and international cross-cultural architecture.
Storytelling approach is the way to formulate and solve problems using stories. Story is a means to understand and react everyday life that can be regarded as multi-dimensional problems. The approach becomes popular in various fields in conjunction with digital technology. In particular, it is used to solve problems in relation to whole context. In design, storytelling approach is used to clarify design constraints. It can be used to clarify and communicate thoughts for design artifacts, and to understand how the artifacts might be used in particular circumstances. In particular, the approach is useful to use under uncertain circumstances. In architecture, storytelling approach can be used in the area of design generation, design critique and capturing design knowledge. In design generation, it can be used to describe and formulate design experiences rather than simple designing artifacts. The approach formalizes design based on stories of user experiences. Digital technology such as virtual reality can be used to experience designed spaces for design modifications. In design critique area, it can be used to fill uncertain facts for historical buildings as welt as different from present status. Such stories can be used to build digital modeling and used to open criticism. Stories can be used to formalize knowledge in architectural domain as a form of implicit knowledge for certain projects. In architecture, it often is required to design types of environment never experienced before as well as to accomodate fast changing technologies. Storytelling methodology can be used as a method to cope with uncertainty and complexity in design requirements along with accumulating design knowledge.
Free vibration analysis of thin shells is carried out by using isogeometric approach. For this purpose, a thin shell element based on Kirchhoff-Love shell theory is developed. Non-uniform rational B-spline surface (NURBS) definition is introduced to represent the geometry of shell and also used to derive all terms required in the isogeometric element formulation. Gauss integration rule is used for stiffness and mass matrices. The present shell element is then applied to examine vibrational behaviours of thin plate and shell structures. From numerical results, it is found be that reliable natural frequencies and associated mode shapes of thin shell structures can be predicted by the present isogeometric shell element.

This paper describes a three-dimensional approach to modeling the nonlinear behavior of partial-depth precast prestressed concrete bridge decks under increasing static loading. Six full-size panels were analyzed with this approach where the damage plasticity constitutive model was used to model concrete. Numerical results were compared and validated with the experimental data and showed reasonable agreement. The discrepancy between numerical and experimental values of load capacities was within six while the discrepancy of mid-span displacement was within 10 %. Parametric study was also conducted to show that higher accuracy could be achieved with lower values of the viscosity parameter but with an increase in the calculation effort.
In the process of creating architectural scenes from photographs using Model-based Stereo 〔1〕, the geometric model is used as prior information to solve correspondence problems and recover the depth or disparity of real scenes. This paper presents an Image Subregioning algorithm that divides left and right images into several rectangular sub-images. The division is done according to the estimated depth of real scenes using a Heuristic Approach. The depth difference between the reality and the model can be partitioned into each depth level. This reduces disparity search range in the Similarity Function. For architectural scenes with complex depth, experiments using the above approach show that accurate disparity maps and better results when rendering scenes can be achieved by the proposed algorithm.
This paper, based on the surveys on 43 cases in whole Korea, aims to analyze the architectural principles extracted from the religious dogmas and to propose the direction of the expression of tradition in Korean religious architecture. Buddhist temples in the modern cities. Catholic churches, Anglican churches, Protestant churches have similar problems and attitudes on the expression of traditiov. They have not yet various subjects on the expression of tradition as 'tradition' is not distinguished from 'transmission'. It is not caused only by the general phase of Korean modern architecture, but also by the lack of the practical theology which extract architectural principles from religious dogma and history. I proposed 'Architectural vocabulary', 'Architectural syntax', 'Architectural idea', and 'Symbolization of interior space' , 'Architectural zeitgeist' as the ideal approach.
The purpose of this study is to establish the relationship between Durand's architectural theory which provided reasonable architectural logic in the early 19th century, and architectural logic of the Modern Movement of Architecture led by avant-garde architects in the 1920's. The system of thought in architecture proposed by Durand which clarified a architectural design method(composition) is very similar to the one of the International Style(Book), which summarizes commonalities in the flow of modern architecture. This approach has something in common from the perspective of the systems of thought, despite differences in external forms and time gaps. Therefore, this study intends to examine the systems of thought in three ways. It is to examine how the two systems of thought define architecture, what is the logic of building production, and finally the value of architecture (including aesthetic values) while eliminating classical aesthetics.
In this study, a square rectangular tall building is considered to investigate the effects of turbulence integral length scale and turbulence intensity on the along-wind responses, across-wind responses and torsional responses of the tall building by Large Eddy Simulation (LES). A recently proposed inflow turbulence generator called the discretizing and synthesizing random flow generation (DSRFG) approach is applied to simulate turbulent flow fields. It has been proved that the approach is able to generate a fluctuating turbulent flow field satisfying any given spectrum, desired turbulence intensity and wind speed profiles. Five profiles of turbulence integral length scale and turbulence intensity are respectively generated for the inflow fields by the DSRFG approach for investigating the effects of turbulence integral length scale and turbulence intensity on the wind-induced responses of the tall building. The computational results indicate that turbulence integral length scale does not have significant effect on the along-wind (displacement, velocity and acceleration) responses, across-wind displacement and velocity responses, while the across-wind acceleration and torsional responses vary without a clear rule with the parameter. On the other hand, the along-wind, across-wind and torsional responses increase with the growth of turbulence intensity.

Anomaly detection on building energy consumption has been regarded as an effective tool to reduce energy saving on building operation and maintenance. However, it requires energy model and FDD expert for quantitative model approach or large amount of training data for qualitative/history data approach. Both method needs additional time and labors. This study propose a machine learning and data science approach to define faulty conditions on hourly building energy consumption with reducing data amount and input requirement. It suggests an application of Support Vector Data Description (SVDD) method on training normal condition of hourly building energy consumption incorporated with hourly outdoor air temperature and time integer in a week, 168 data points and identifying hourly abnormal condition in the next day. The result shows the developed model has a better performance when the ${\nu}$ (probability of error in the training set) is 0.05 and ${\gamma}$ (radius of hyper plane) 0.2. The model accuracy to identify anomaly operation ranges from 70% (10% increase anomaly) to 95% (20% decrease anomaly) for daily total (24 hours) and from 80% (10% decrease anomaly) to 10%(15% increase anomaly) for occupied hours, respectively.
