The interests in Machine Translation(MT) have gotten revitalized lately with the rapid expansion of internet users. MT technology has gone through several different stages of development, but the longest surviving methods usually maintains the following characteristics: the expand ability and flexibility based on proved linguistic formalism, the transfer method of translation, the continued efforts of systematic updates being made into the system. This paper introduces one such system, L&H Korean-English bidirectional MT system. This system uses Lexical-Functional Grammar as its linguistic framework. It also adopts the transfer method of MT and has been around on the market for over 10 years for other language pairs. Currently, the system covers over 10 different languages including Chinese, Japanese and Arabic, in addition to European languages. This paper will review the system in its core and discuss related tools and resources be ing used to enhance the quality of translation.

Unani medicine has been used extensively as preventive and therapeutic healthcare in India. It mostly utilizes herbal drugs for the treatment of various conditions and ailments. It is based upon the humoural and temperament theory of Buqrat (Hippocrates). Unani medicine is one of the oldest traditional system rooted within the Greek, Iranian, Arabic, and Islamic medical knowledge and has developed as a scientific healthcare system. It is highly practiced and popular in certain parts of the world, and the World Heritage Centre, part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the United Nations Foundation list it as an authentic and still-living form of traditional medicine. But in the past, its survival required utmost efforts from different dynasties, scholars and organization around the world. The efforts of promotion, preservation, translation, upgradation and publication of medical knowledge has crucially given new life to Unani medicine in each era. This letter will enlighten the efforts of translations of medical knowledge in Unani medicine from its arising need in the past till present.

This study aims to evaluate the Higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage from the diploma students' perspectives. A questionnaire was designed consisting of 25 items distributed in two areas: cognitive/academic preparation and professional/skill preparation. The following statistical analyses were used: means, standard deviations, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The study results showed that the level of evaluation of the two domains in the program was low. The study also showed no statistically significant differences between the means of educational diploma students when evaluating the Higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage due to their academic specialization (Arabic language, social sciences, and Islamic studies). In conclusion, the researcher suggested a developmental mechanism derived from the study results to improve the higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage.

Carpets are a useful tool for highlighting the cultural uniqueness of a region because their characteristic usage often reveals distinctive natural features of the place or the unique cultural identity of a group. Investigating anecdotes and associated patterns found in three medieval trans-Eurasian travelogues, this paper focuses on observations made by the Chinese Buddhist monk, Faxian, the Sunni pilgrim and scholar, Ibn Battuta, and Marco Polo, the Venetian merchant examining their thoughts, observations, and perspectives on carpet-related customs in their experienced contexts. In particular, this manuscript touches on the controversies, impacts, and narratives associated with carpet practices observed in each travel writer's context respectively, concluding that each traveler shows several things in common rather than showing different patterns depending on the characteristics of their religion. Overall, they observed the uses of carpets according to their jobs and travel purposes and appropriately detailed related episodes if the intended purpose and context matched the uses.

본 연구에서는 ER 브레이크와 ER클러치를 피드백작동기로 사용하여 이송테이블의 위치 추적제어를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 아라빅 검(arabic gum)계통의 ER유체를 자체조성한 후 전기장에 대한 빙햄(Bingham)모델을 실험적으로 도출하였다. 빙햄모델에 근거하여 평판형의 ER브레이크와 실린더형의 ER클러치를 설계 제작하였으며, 계단입력(step input)전기장에 따른 출력토오크특성을 통하여 이들 작동기의 동적모델을 얻었다. 이들 작동기와 연계된 이송테이블시스템의 운동지배방정식을 유도한 후 위치추적제어를 위한 슬라이딩모드제어기를 설계하였다. 제어기 설계시 이송해이블의 부하질량 변화에 대한 시스템 불확실성과 마찰력을 고려하여 제어성능의 강건성을 보장하도록 하였다. 제안된 제어시스템의 제어영역(control bandwidth)을 주파수 영역에서 고찰한 후 여러 레적에 대한 위치추적제어 실험을 수행하였다.

The current study aimed to identify the level of tolerance and the level of marital happiness and the relationship between tolerance and marital happiness among married teachers in Irbid. In addition, to identify the differences in tolerance and marital happiness according to some demographic variables among married teachers in Irbid. The study sample consisted of (121) married teachers were randomly selected from the study community. For study purposes, the researcher used the tolerance scale for Shuqair and the marital happiness scale for Hedberg translated to Arabic by Alharekey. Findings showed that there were statistical correlations between tolerance and marital happiness among married teachers. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the married teachers' average scores in the degree of tolerance and marital happiness according to the gender, age, the gap between couples, and years of married.

For a long time, CAPTCHA Recognition has been a major challenge in the field of artificial intelligence. Although there are many related technologies that can solve this identification problem, further breakthroughs are still needed. Based on the existing SSD network, this paper adds a non-block module. Compared with the original SSD network, the recognition rate of SSD + Non-local is improved from 86.12% to 88.47%.In addition, it is worth noting that the recognized character verification code consists of Arabic numerals, uppercase and lowercase English letters.

The 『Hun-Gai-Tong-Xian-Tushuo 渾蓋通憲圖說』, which was an important astronomical book in East-Asia, was published by Li Zhi-zao (李之藻, 1565-1631) in 1607. This book was including the data of stars. We analyzed the data of stars recorded in 『Hun-Gai-Tong-Xian-Tushuo 渾蓋通憲圖說』. Based on historical background, we assumed that the data of stars recorded in 『Hun-Gai-Tong-Xian-Tushuo 渾蓋通憲圖說』 likely referenced knowledge from the ancient Arab/Islam culture. In conclusion, we assume a correlation with the star catalogue included in 『Almagest』 by Ptolemaios. Therefore, we think that this star's data will become important data for comparison with the star catalogues published in Arabic/Islam.

천연 다당류 고무질을 식품에 확대 이용하고자, sodium alginate, gum karaya 및 gum arabic을 가지고 pH 및 농도별로 SPI에 작용시켜 거품특성을 실험하였다. 표면장력은 3종의 고무질을 농도별로 첨가시 전체적으로 SPI의 등전점(pH 4.5) 부근인 pH 4.0 및 5.0에서 각각 $39.9{\sim}44.1$ 및 $41.7{\sim}44.8\;dyne/cm$이었고, pH 7.0 및 8.0에서는 각각 $43.9{\sim}46.4$ 및 $44.6{\sim}46.9\;dyne/cm$로써 전체적으로 대조구보다 다소 높았으며 pH 4.0 및 5.0에서가 pH 7.0 및 8.0에서 보다 다소 낮았다. 비점도는 pH 7.0 및 8.0에서 전체를 통하여 각각 $3.6{\sim}51.8$ 및 $4.0{\sim}51.2$이었으며, 특히 sodium alginate를 농도별로 첨가 시 pH 7.0 및 8.0에서 각각 $11.5{\sim}51.8$ 및 $10.1{\sim}51.2$로써 대조구에 비하여 크게 증가하였다. 거품형성능(overrun)은 15분 whipping시, 고무질의 종류 및 농도에 따라 pH 4.0 및 5.0에서 각각 $965.7{\sim}1689.0$ 및 $1182{\sim}1413%$이었고, pH 7.0 및 8.0에서 각각 $804.7{\sim}1018.0$ 및 $795.0{\sim}962.3%$로써 전체적으로 대조구보다 낮았으며 pH 4.0 및 5.0에서가 pH 7.0 및 8.0에서보다 높았다. 거품안정성(drainage)은 고무질 종류 및 농도에 따라 pH 4.0(대조구, 66.8분) 및 5.0(대조구, 53.4분)에서 각각 $22.7{\sim}41.41 및 $41.5{\sim}83.8$분이었고, pH 7.0(대조구, 20.4분) 및 8.0(대조구, 19.7분)에서 각각 $18.2{\sim}104.7$ 및 $21.0{\sim}84.6$분이었으며, 특히 sodium alginate 첨가시 효과가 현저하였으며 0.2% 첨가시 pH 5.0, 7.0 및 8.0에서 각각 대조구의 57, 413 및 315% 증진되었다. 거품의 열안정성은 15분 whipping시, pH 4.0(대조구, 30.2%) 및 5.0(대조구, 23.7%)에서 각각 $0{\sim}38.0$ 및 $0{\sim}57.0%$이었고 pH 7.0(대조구, 39.6%) 및 8.0(대조구, 43.6%)에서 각각 $0{\sim}59.4$ 및 $36.6{\sim}58.4%$이었으며 sodium alginate 첨가시가 가장 양호하였다. 전체적으로 보아 거품안정성이 높은 것은 열안정성도 높은 경향이며, 표면장력이 낮으면 거품형성능이 높아지고, 비점도가 높으면 거품안정성 및 열안정성이 높아지는 경향이 있었다.

목적: 본 연구는 시력검사 시 시표의 유형에 따른 상대가독성이 교정시력에 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 특별한 안질환 및 안과 수술 경험이 없는 24명을 대상으로 '란돌트 고리시표', '숫자시표', '영문시표'를 단일 문자시표로 제시하여 상대가독성을 측정한 후 7종류의 시시력표에서 시표 유형에 따른 0.8, 1.0, 1.25 시력의 시표열의 상대가독성을 비교하였다. 그리고 60명의 근시를 대상으로 양안원용굴절검사(#7A)로 시표 유형에 따른 교정시력을 측정하여 비교하였다. 결과: 3가지 시표 유형 중에서 상대가독성이 가장 나쁜 시표는 가독거리가 $98.97{\pm}4.57cm$인 '란돌트 고리시표'였고, 상대가독성이 가장 좋은 시표는 가독거리가 $108.42{\pm}3.46cm$인 '영문시표'였다. 그리고 다른 조건이 동일할 경우 시시력표의 종류 또는 시표열의 시력 수준에 따른 상대가독성 차이는 없었다. 1.0과 1.25 시력의 시표열에서 시표 유형에 따른 상대가독성 차이는 '란돌트 고리시표'와 '영문시표'에서 각각 $-0.07{\pm}0.06$(p=0.02)과 $-0.06{\pm}0.06$(p=0.04)으로서 통계적으로 유의하게 가장 큰 차이가 있었다. 근시에서 시표 유형에 따른 교정시력의 차이는 '란돌트 고리시표'와 '숫자시표'로 측정한 경우에서 $-0.04{\pm}0.02$(p=0.02)로 통계적으로 유의한 가장 큰 차이가 있었고, 특히 약도근시에서 그 차이가 두드러졌다. 결론: 시표 유형에 따른 상대가독성 차이가 존재하므로 시력검사 시 동일한 시력 수준의 시표열이라도 여러 유형의 시표를 혼용하여 제시할 경우 최고시력 측정값의 오차를 유발할 수 있다.
