  • Until now, various period formulas Pre proposed, but those of have a little difficult procedure and variation according to structural system. This paper presents an analysis of the uncoupled vibration of symmetric in RC structures. A generalized approximate method is developed using the Southwell-Dunkerley approximation and characteristics of structural deformation. The results of the proposed method for the example structure show good agreement with those of the Midas Genw4.2.2.

  • This paper presents a method for approximation of the standard normal distribution by using hyperbolic tangent based functions. The presented approximate formula for the cumulative distribution depends on one numerical coefficient only, and its accuracy is admissible. Furthermore, in some particular cases, closed forms of inverse formulas are derived. Numerical results of the present method are compared with those of an existing method.

Partial Fraction Expansions for Newton's and Halley's Iterations for Square Roots

  • When Newton's method, or Halley's method is used to approximate the pth root of 1-z, a sequence of rational functions is obtained. In this paper, a beautiful formula for these rational functions is proved in the square root case, using an interesting link to Chebyshev's polynomials. It allows the determination of the sign of the coefficients of the power series expansion of these rational functions. This answers positively the square root case of a proposed conjecture by Guo(2010).

  • The considerations in the noise control by enclosure are the rise of temperature and sound pressure, transmission loss, absorption coefficient of the materials, the structure of the soundproof panels, an opening and coincidence frequency. But it is very difficult that we obtain the accurate data about those in design, so, the noise reduction after enclosing does not correspond with the calculation. The difference of the noise reduction between the calculation and the measurement was 8.2dBA, and we can obtain the approximate result as the following formula which correct 10dBA, safely.

  • This paper suggests the price of vulnerable European option under a constant elasticity of variance model by using asymptotic analysis technique and obtains the approximated solution of the option price. Finally, we illustrate an accuracy of the vulnerable option price so that the approximate solution is well-defined.

  • Queueing systems with retrials are widely used to model many problems in call centers, telecommunication networks, and in daily life. We present a very accurate but simple approximate formula for the distribution of the number of retrying customers in the M/G/1 retrial queue.

  • In this paper, we have calculated a formular for sabot-trajectory of shipboard projectile including ship motion and generated trajectory-range function for analysing interference with structure of naval ship. We make formula to approximate the ship motion data of naval ship using optimization technique. Through this formula, we calculate the velocities and accelerations of sabot caused by ship motion(surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch, yaw) and then, we produce the formula about the trajectory of sabot including effects of ship motion in addition to previous study which had considered the effects of the pressure of flume, friction force, etc. To investigate interference with ship structures, we make the trajectory-range functions and then extract the nearest or farthest trajectory to ship structure. Through these data, we can conform whether the interference is happened or not.

  • The paper presents a study aimed at understanding some characteristics of an interior explosion within a room with limited or no venting. The explosion may occur in ammunition storage or result from a terrorist action or from a warhead that had penetrated into this room. The study includes numerical simulations of the problem and analytical derivations. Different types of analysis (1-D, 2-D and 3-D analysis) were performed for a room with rigid walls and the results were analyzed. For the 3D problem the effect of the charge size and its location within the room was investigated and a new insight regarding the pressure distribution on the interior wall as function of these parameters has been gained. The numerical analyses were carried out using the Eulerian multi-material approach. Further, an approximate analytical formula to predict the residual internal pressure was developed. The formula is based on the conservation law of total energy and its implementation yields very good agreement with the results obtained numerically using the complete statement of the problem for a wide range of explosive weights and room sizes that is expressed through a non-dimensional parameter. This new formula is superior to existing literature recommendations and compares considerably better with the above numerical results.

회귀분석을 통한 공공청사 골조 공사의 개산견적 방안 (Conceptual Cost Estimate Method of Public Office Building Structural Frame Work by Regression Analysis)

  • 프로젝트 초기단계에서 적정공사비 산정은 필수적이다. 적정공사비 산출을 위해서는 개산견적은 중요한 요인이 된다. 하지만 국내의 개산견적 활용 현황은 건물 유형에 따른 단위면적당 공사비만 활용하는데 그치고 있어 그 정확도가 높지 않다. 이에 본 연구에서는 따른 골조 공사의 공통 내역항목 수량을 연면적에 의한 회귀식을 제시하여 골조 공사의 철근, 레미콘, 거푸집에 대하여 개산 수량을 산출하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 회귀식의 정확성과 타당성을 검증하기 위해 기존에 사용된 개산 수량법과 본 연구에서 제시한 회귀식을 실 사례에 적용하여 비교분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 기존 개산 수량 법은 실소요 수량에 비해 발생한 오차율이 -102 ~ 55%였으며, 이에 기존 개산수량 법은 AACE에서 제시한 개산견적 정확도 범위인 -50~100%에 초과되었으나, 본 연구에서 제시한 회귀식의 오차율은 -6.4 ~ 11.62%였다. 이는 AACE의 개산견적 정확도 범위뿐만 아니라 상세견적 단계에서도 사용할 수 있다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 더 높은 기대효과를 기대하기 위해서는 향후 수량뿐만 아니라 단가에 대한 영향요인을 분석하여 적정 공사비를 산출하는 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다.

선체갑판(船體甲板)의 국부진동(局部振動)에 대한 방진설계(防振設計)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Preventive Measures against Local Vibrations of Ships' Deck Panels)

  • To contribute to the preventive measures against local vibrations of ship's deck panels, some investigations into the prediction method of the natural frequency of the vibration of stiffened plates were done. Firstly, an analytical method based on the orthotropic plate analogy and the Rayleigh method using eigenfunctions of the Euler beam was shown, and numerical results of a regularly stiffened plate were compared with experimental results. And then, the method was extended to stiffened plates having one or two irregular stiffeners to obtain an approximate formula showing the relation between the change of the natural frequency and the size of the irregular stiffeners. The latter case was investigated for the purpose of providing a convenient design manual applicable to cure of local resonant vibrations of ships' deck panels by additional reinforcement of one or two stiffeners. In the analytical development the boundary was assumed to be rigidly supported and elastically restrained against rotation. In the experiment, however, only an extreme case i.e. simply supported boundary was investigated. The results of the investigation show that there is a fairly good conformity between the analytical results and the experimental ones in the first case, and that the approximate formula for the second case is confirmed also to be reliable for the design purpose. Considering that actual boundary conditions of deck panels in ship structures lie mostly somewhere between the simple support and the fixed, the authors discussed problems of the joint efficiency at the boundary of deck panels from the viewpoint of the practical application of the formulae.
