  • Purpose: To find out the appropriate probability distribution of credit card usage behavior by considering the relationship among income, expenditure and credit card usage amount. Such relationship is enabled by Korea's especially high penetration of credit card. Method: Goodness-of-fit test and effect size statistic W were used to identify the distribution of income and credit card usage amount. A simulation model is introduced to generate the credit card transactions on individual user level. Result: The three data sets for testing had either passed the chi-square test or showed low W values, meaning they follow the exponential distribution. And the exponential distribution turned out to fit the data sets well. The r values were very high. Conclusion: The credit card usage behavior, denoted as the counts of users by usage amount band, follows the exponential distribution. This distribution is easy to manipulate, has a variety of applications and generates important business implications.

  • Solar-powered wireless sensor nodes can use extra energy to obtain additional data to increase the precision. However, if the amount of data sensed is increased indiscriminately, the overhead of relay nodes may increase, and their energy may be exhausted. In this paper, we introduce a sensing and compression rate selection scheme to increase the amount of data obtained while preventing energy exhaustion. In this scheme, the neighbor nodes of the sink node determine the limit of data to be transmitted according to the allocated energy and their descendant nodes, and the other nodes select a compression algorithm appropriate to the allocated energy and the limitation of data to be transmitted. A simulation result verifies that the proposed scheme gathers more data with a lower number of blackout nodes than other schemes. We also found that it adapts better to changes in node density and the amount of energy harvested.

  • In an automatic combination weigher, the line feeders distribute the product to several weighing hoppers. The ability to supply appropriate amount of product to the weighing hoppers for each combination operation is crucial for the overall performance. Determining the right duration of operating a line feeder to supply a given amount of product becomes very challenging in case of products which are irregular in volume or specific gravity such as granular secondary processed foods. In this research, several schemes were investigated to determine the best way for a line feeder to approximate the next operating time in order to supply a set amount of irregular goods to the corresponding weighing hopper. Results obtained show that a weighted least squares method (WLS) employing 10 data points is the most effective in determining the operating times of line feeders.

  • In the present study, the effect of Ni content on densification and grain growth in Ni doped W compacts was investigated by using the dilatometric analysis. The Ni-doped W compacts with various amount of Ni activator from 0.02 to 0.4 wt% were sintered in hydrogen atmosphere up to 140$0^{\circ}C$. As the amount of Ni and heating rates, the Ni-doped W compacts show a greatly different dilatometric behavior during the sintering. The sintered specimen was densified over 98% of theoretical density by adding only 0.06 wt% Wi in sub-micron W powder and the appropriate heating rate. It was also observed that the microstructure development strongly depended on the change of the Ni amount. In addition, it was found that the critical content of Ni showing large grain growth in microstructure was below 0.1 wt%.

  • Light-weight foamed concrete using cement as a raw material consumes a lot of energy and generates $CO_2$ because of the high temperature firing process in the manufacturing process of cement. This study was carried out to evaluate the use of blast furnace slag through the properties analysis by substituting a certain amount of blast furnace slag as an industrial by-product as a substitute for cement. The experimental results showed similar characteristics to those of using only cement when the blast furnace slag fine powder was used in an appropriate amount. Therefore, if a certain amount of cement is replaced with blast furnace slag powder, it can maintain similar quality, reduce natural resources and energy consumption, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

  • This is to supply the basic data for saving energy and the appropriate way of waste disposal. The amount of waste disposed and its heat after burning is guessed to get conclusions. 1. The amount of disposable waste in 1990 in Seoul area is expected to be 2.2kg per man/day, coal ashes (YONTAN) 0.7kg, non-coal ashes 1.5kg. 2. The amount of waste combustible and heat after burning will be increased, and it is useful when the waste has Less than $70\%$ of water. 3. The method to collect waste should be specially organized, because most of the waste collected In Korea Is wet. 4. As the heat emitted from mass burning is $4\times10^{12}kcal/y$ in 1985, it is considered to be in senses of energy saving and the rationnal way of waste disposal. 5. Special concern is needed because the environment contaminated will be polluted in result of burning.

  • Purpose: It is to seek for an appropriate cost rate analysis methodology of credit card value propositions in Korea. For this issue, it is claimed that methodologies based on probability distribution is more suitable than methodologies based on data-mining. The analysis model constructed for the cost rate estimation is called VCPM model. Methods: The model includes two major variables denoted as S and P. S is monthly credit card usage amount. P stands for the proportion of usage amount at special merchants over the whole monthly usage amount. The distributions assumed for P are positively skewed distributions such as exponential, gamma and lognormal. The major inputs to the model are also derived from S and P, which are E(S) and the aggregate proportion of usage amount at special merchants over the total monthly usage amount. Results: When the credit card's value proposition is general discount, the VCPM model fits well and generates reasonable cost rate(denoted as R). However, it seems that the model does not work well for other types of credit cards. Conclusion: The VCPM model is reliable for calculating cost rate for credit cards with positively skewed distribution of P, which are general discount card. However, another model should be built for cards with other types of distributions of P.

  • Understanding the carrying capacity of a habitat is crucial for effectively managing populations of wild boars (Sus scrofa), which are designated as harmful wild animal species in national parks. Carrying capacity refers to the maximum population size supported by a park's environmental conditions. This study aimed to estimate the appropriate wild boar population size by integrating population characteristics and habitat suitability for wild boars in the Bukhansan National Park using the HexSim program. Population characteristics included age, survival, reproduction, and movement. Habitat suitability, which reflects prospecting and resource acquisition, was determined using the Maximum Entropy model. This study found that the optimal population size for wild boar ranged from 217 to 254 individuals. The population size varied depending on the amount of resources available within the home range, indicating fewer individuals in a larger home range. The estimated wild boar population size was 217 individuals for the minimum amount of resources (50% minimum convex polygon [MCP] home range), 225 individuals for the average amount of resources (95% MCP home range), and 254 individuals for the maximum amount of resources (100% MCP home range). The results of one-way analysis of variance revealed a significant difference in wild boar population size based on the amount of resources within the home range. These findings provide a basis for the development and implementation of effective management strategies for wild boar populations.

  • The number of defect disputes occurring in apartment houses is increasing year by year, and among them, disputes caused by defects in tiles account for 28.2% of the total, which is an important defect in tiles. A representative tile defect in the defect dispute is the lack of tile backfill. Another dispute occurred that the standards for each organization are different as the 100% standard of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's building construction standard and 80% standard of the Architectural Institute of Korea's Building Technology Guidelines. In this study, it was analyzed the relationship between the amount of tile backfill and the amount of tile defects based on 100 defect litigation court appraisal documents. It was observed that the amount of defect in tile works tended to decrease as the amount of tile backfill increased. By presenting an appropriate amount of mortar to fill behind tiles in a defect dispute, the effect of reducing the defect dispute can be expected.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors influencing fish production of shallow-sea aquaculture in South Korea. This study employed the two-way fixed effect and random effect models based on the panel models and also the difference between GMM and system GMM models based on the dynamic panel models using the amount of fish farming production, the number of stocked fry, the number of cultured fish, the amount of inputted feed, the farming area, the number of workers, and the sales price data from 2010 to 2017. First, the two-way fixed effect model of the panel models was selected by panel characteristics, time characteristics and Hausman tests and also the model was statistically significant. As a result of the two-way fixed effect model, the number of stocked fry, the amount of inputted feed, and the number of workers were identified as factors that increase the fish production of shallow-sea aquaculture. However, the number of cultured fish and the sales price were analyzed as factors that reduce the fish production of shallow-sea aquaculture. Second, the system GMM model of the dynamic panel models was selected by Hansen test and Arellano-Bond test in order to identify whether or not the over-discrimination condition is appropriate. Based on the system GMM model, the number of stocked fry, the amount of inputted feed, the number of workers in this year and 1 year ago, the number of cultured fish 2 years ago, and the sale price 3 years ago were analyzed as factors that increase the fish production of shallow-sea aquaculture. However, the amount of fish farming production 1, 2, 3 years ago, the farming area in this year, and the number of cultured fish in this year and 1 year ago were identified as factors that reduce the fish production of shallow-sea aquaculture. In conclusion, this study suggests that it is desirable to control the amount of stocked fry rather than to expand the farming area for fish farming in shallow-sea aquaculture, so as to keep the sale price at a certain level by maintaining the appropriate amount of fish production.
