  • This paper investigates on the use of constant-amplitude zero-autocorrelation (CAZAC) sequence for channel estimation in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system over indoor wireless channel. Since the symbol-length of the conventional 4-phase CAZAC sequence is short, there is a limitation to use it for MIMO system in multipath environments. An algorithm which generates longer CAZAC sequences is proposed to overcome that problem. Flexible symbol-length of 4-phase CAZAC sequences can be made by the proposed algorithm. Therefore appropriate symbol-length of CAZAC sequences could be utilized as preambles in accordance with the number of transmit antennas and channel condition. The effect of the number of CAZAC sequences for channel estimation is presented in terms of mean square error (MSE).

  • Ultra broadband communication systems operated at THz frequencies will require the thorough knowledge of the propagation channel. Therefore, an extensive measurement campaign of 50 GHz wide indoor radio channels is presented for the frequencies between 275 and 325 GHz. Individual ray paths are resolved spatially according to angle of arrival and departure. A MIMO channel is recorded in a $2{\times}2$ configuration. An advanced frequency domain ray tracing approach is used to deterministically simulate the THz indoor propagation channel. The ray tracing results are validated with the measurement data. Moreover, the measurements are utilized for the calibration of the ray tracing algorithm. Resulting ray tracing accuracies are discussed.

  • This paper deals with a resource efficient artificial intelligence (AI) service architecture for multi-channel video streams. As an AI service, we consider the object detection model, which is the most representative for video applications. Since most object detection models are basically designed for a single channel video stream, the utilization of the additional resource for multi-channel video stream processing is inevitable. Therefore, we propose a resource efficient AI service framework, which can be associated with various AI service models. Our framework is designed based on the modular architecture, which consists of adaptive frame control (AFC) Manager, multiplexer (MUX), adaptive channel selector (ACS), and YOLO interface units. In order to run only a single YOLO process without regard to the number of channels, we propose a novel approach efficiently dealing with multi-channel input streams. Through the experiment, it is shown that the framework is capable of performing object detection service with minimum resource utilization even in the circumstance of multi-channel streams. In addition, each service can be guaranteed within a deadline.

  • Multi-hop relaying communications have great potentials in improving transmission performance by deploying relay nodes. The benefit is critically dependent on the accuracy of the channel state information (CSI) of all the transmitting links. However, the CSI has to be estimated. In this paper, we investigate the channel estimation problem in one-way multi-hop MIMO amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system, where both the two-hop and three-hop communication link exist. Traditional point-to-point MIMO channel estimation methods will result in error propagation in estimating relay links, and separately tackling the channel estimation issue of each link will lose the gain as part of channel matrices involved in multiple communication links. In order to exploit all the available gains, we develop a novel channel estimation model by structuring different communication links using the PARAFAC and PARATUCK2 tensor analysis. Furthermore, a two-stage fitting algorithm is derived to estimate all the channel matrices involved in the communication process. In particular, essential uniqueness is further discussed. Simulation results demonstrate the advantage and effectiveness of the proposed channel estimator.

  • In this paper, we present a trellis-based blind channel estimation and equalization technique coupling two kinds of adaptive Viterbi algorithms. First, the initial blind channel estimation is accomplished by incorporating the list parallel Viterbi algorithm with the least mean square (LMS) updating approach. In this operation, multiple trellis mappings are preserved simultaneously and ranked in terms of path metrics. Equivalently, multiple channel estimates are maintained and updated once a single symbol is received. Second, the best channel estimate from the above operation will be adopted to set up the whole trellis. The conventional adaptive Viterbi algorithm is then applied to detect the signal and further update the channel estimate alternately. A small delay is introduced for the symbol detection and the decision feedback to smooth the noise impact. An automatic switch between the above two operations is also proposed by exploiting the evolution of path metrics and the linear constraint inherent in the trellis mapping. Simulation has shown an overall excellent performance of the proposed scheme in terms of mean square error (MSE) for channel estimation, robustness to the initial channel guess, computational complexity, and channel equalization.

  • A previous study demonstrated that the two-row fuel assembly has much more favorable neutron-physical and thermal-hydraulic behavior than the conventional one-row fuel assemblies. Based on the newly developed two-row fuel assembly, an SCWR core is proposed and analyzed. The performance of the proposed core is investigated with 3-D coupled neutron-physical and thermal-hydraulic calculations. During the coupling procedure, the thermal-hydraulic behavior is analyzed using a sub-channel analysis code and the neutron-physical performance is computed with a 3-D diffusion code. This paper presents the main results achieved thus far related to the distribution of some neutronic and thermal-hydraulic parameters. It shows that with adjustment of the coolant and moderator mass flow in different assemblies, promising neutron-physical and thermal-hydraulic behavior of the SCWR core is achieved. A sensitivity study of the heat transfer correlation is also performed. Since the pin power in fuel assemblies can be non-uniform, a sub-channel analysis is necessary in order to investigate the detailed distribution of thermal-hydraulic parameters in the hottest fuel assembly. The sub-channel analysis is performed based on the bundle averaged parameters obtained with the core analysis. With the sub-channel analysis approach, more precise evaluation of the hot channel factor and maximum cladding surface temperature can be achieved. The difference in the results obtained with both the sub-channel analysis and the fuel assembly homogenized method confirms the importance of the sub-channel analysis.

  • In the static channel assignment scheme for cellular mobile computing environment, each cell has a fixed number of channels and supports a service for a user′s request entering to the cell. This scheme has an advantage of simplicity. However, this scheme has a disadvantage that can′t control far hot cell problem. Therefore, to solve this problem, the "channel borrowing" concept is needed. In this paper, we propose a load balancing(channel borrowing, channel reassignment) approach using genetic algorithm. The purposes of using genetic algorithm in this paper are ${\circled1}$ to find early a cell including an available channel and ${\circled2}$ to decrease a number of probings and ${\circled3}$ to migrate to the cell after searching an available channel near upon optimality. To represent effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we simulated various experiments.

  • The present work investigates a heat transfer phenomenon at the interface between a porous medium and an impermeable wall. In an effort to appropriately describe the heat transfer phenomenon at the interface, the heat transfer at the interface between the microchannel heat sink, which is an ideally organized porous medium, and the finite-thickness substrate is examined. From the examination, it is clarified that the he heat flux distribution at the interface is not uniform for the impermeable wall with finite thickness. On the other hand, the first approach, based on the energy balance for the representative elementary volume in the porous medium, is physically reason able. When the first approach is applied to the thermal boundary condition, and additional boundary condition based on the local thermal equilibrium assumption at the interface is used. This additional boundary condition is applicable except for the very th in impermeable wall. Hence, for practical situations, the first approach in combination with the local thermal equilibrium assumption at the interface is suggested as an appropriate thermal boundary condition. In order to confirm our suggestion, convective flows both in a microchannel heat sink and in a sintered porous channel subject to a constant heat flux condition are analyzed. The analytically obtained thermal resistance of the microchannel heat sink and the numerically obtained overall Nusselt number for the sintered porous channel are shown to be in close agreement with available experimental results when our suggestion for the thermal boundary conditions is applied.

  • The channel capacities of various lading channels are calculated and compared with that of Gaussian noise channel to find out the decrements of channel capacity according to each fading environment. As a result, it is confirmed that the channel capacities in Rician and m-distribution fading channels approach to that of Gaussian noise channel as direct-to-indirect power ratio in Rician fading channel and fading index m in m-distribution fading channel increases respectively. And the difference between two channel capacities of Gaussian noise channel and each fading channel which is dependent on carrier-to-noise power ratio (CNR) is found. Also the improvement of channel capacity of Rayleigh fading channel by introducing two-branch diversities is obtained. For diversity reception, predetection maximal-ratio and postdetection selective combining techniques are adopted. The results show that the improvement of channel capacity by predetection maximal-ratio combining diversity is superior to the postdetection selective combining diversitiy regardless of correlation coefficient between two diversity branches in Raylelgh fading channel. The best improvement is achieved when two branches are noncorrelative in both two diversify techniques and as correlation coefficient of two diversity branches is smaller, the improvement of channel capacity is greater.
