An Empirical Study on Contract Model for IT Outsourcing Application Operation (IT 아웃소싱 어플리케이션 운영 계약모델에 대한 실증적 연구)

  • The study suggests a contract model of application operation through case study of A bank's IT outsourcing application contract based on workload. The IT outsourcing order form has a problem in that the scope of work is ambiguous due to the integration of operation and maintenance. In this study, application operation and maintenance were separated by referring to application operation history provided in ISO/IEC15504-5 standard. The scope of the IT outsourcing service was clarified by organizing the definition and detail activities of the application operation business. Application operation contract method has generally applied estimation method by the number of input manpower and period by agreement between buyer and client. As there is no activity to calculate the number of input manpower based on the operational work history and based on the standard workload per activity. In this case is not guaranteed due to the simple agreement between the contractors. In this paper, we propose an application operating cost estimation model that measures the size of the operating software using function point analysis that is the basis of application operation tasks. In order to verify the validity of the application operation cost model, we verified the correlation between the application size and the labor cost through regression analysis using SPSS.

  • Atmospheric carbon monoxide (CO) and ozone $(O_3)$ play the important trace gases in tropospheric chemistry, through its concentration in the troposphere directly influences the concentrations of tropospheric hydroxyl (OH). Understanding the impact of CO and $O_3$ on the global tropospheric chemistry requires measurements of the global atmospheric CO and $O_3$ distributions. This study focuses on the identification of CO and O3 released in the East Asia between March 2000 and February 2004. During the period, the MOPITT instrument onboard the Earth Observing System (EOS)-Terra platform collected extensive measurement of CO. So we have used MOPITT data at 700hPa to analyze seasonal distribution of CO concentration. And the O3 measurements for this study were Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and Dobson spectrometer provided NASA/GSFC and Yonsei University, Korea. During springtime, the CO and O3 concentrations were increased over East Asia for April, May, and June. CO and O3 transport and chemistry in the springtime in East Asia are studied by use of the HYbrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model.

  • Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) is a payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The instrument images the earth using a push-broom motion with a swath width of 15 km and a ground sample distance (GSD) of 1 m over the entire field of view (FOV) at altitude 685 Km. The instrument is designed to have an on-orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/ offset and on-board image data compression/storage. The MSC instrument has one(1) channel for panchromatic imaging and four(4) channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI CCD Focal Plane Array (FPA). In this paper, the architecture and function of MSC hardware including electrical interface and the operation concept which have been established based on the mission requirements are described. And the design and the preparation of MSC system operation are analyzed and discussed.

Developing an Industry-Specific Application Systems Operation Cost Estimation Model (응용시스템 운영비용 산정을 위한 업종중심 모델 개발)

  • In this study, industry-specific application systems operation cost estmation models are suggested. We reviewed operation cost models of previous researches, and developed a strong need for industry-specific operation outsourcing cost models. Security industry operation cost model and medical care industry outsourcing cost model are proposed, and tested with empirical data. We showed the validity of industry-specific application systems outsourcing cost models. Future research will be needed to develop outsourcing cost models for other industries and to refine cost models developed in this study.

  • Although sustainable development of a city should in theory be based on updated spatial information like land cover/use changes, in practice there are no effective tools to get such information. However the development of satellite and sensor technologies has increased the supply of high resolution satellite data, allowing cost-effective, multi-temporal monitoring. Especially KOMPSAT-1(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite) acquired a large number of images of the whole Korean peninsula and covering some large cities a number of times. In this study land-use patterns and trends of Daejeon from the year 2000 to the year 2003 will be considered using land use maps which are generated by manual interpretation of multi-temporal KOMPSAT EOC imagery and to show the possibility of using high resolution satellite remote sensing data for urban analysis.

  • The International Space Station (ISS) offers research opportunities to researchers through crew's space mission in the field of remote sensing. ISS provides the facilities to place and operate experiment equipments in a variety of fields, especially, microgravity experiments and Earth observations. This paper is intended to give readers a brief introduction to the ISS utilization and the capabilities for remote sensing researches. We investigate what kind of crew missions and payloads should be developed for remote sensing researches on the ISS.

  • Application systems outsourcing is an important part of IT outsourcing services. Application systems outsourcing costs is determined by service levels of outsourcers. Recent researches show there is a strong need to build industry-specific cost estimation models. In this study, an industry-specific application systems operation cost estimation model is suggested. We reviewed operation cost models of previous researches, and proposed a cost estimation model for security industry. Industry-specific service factors are defined and service levels are determined by Interviews with experts. The proposed model is tested and adjusted with empirical data. The new model shows more accurate prediction than previous general models. Future research will be needed to develop outsourcing cost estimation models for other industries and to refine cost models developed in this study.

Detection of 2002-2003 El Ni${\tilde{n}}$o Using EOS and OSMI Data

  • Interannual variability in the patterns of satellitederived pigment concentrations, sea-level height anomaly, sea surface temperature anomaly, and zonal wind anomaly are observed during the 2002-2003 El Ni${\tilde{n}}$o. The largest spatial extent of the phytoplankton bloom was recovery from El Ni${\tilde{n}}$o over the equatorial Pacific. The evolution towards a warm episode (El Ni${\tilde{n}}$o) started from spring of 2002 and continued during January 2003, while equatorial Sea Surface Temperature Anomaly (SSTA) remained greater than +1$^{\circ}$C in the central equatorial Pacific. The EOS (Earth Observing System) and OSMI (Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager) data are used for detection of dramatic changes in the patterns of pigment concentration during El Ni${\tilde{n}}$o.
