The present study was performed to determine the infection status of swamp eels with Gnathostoma sp. larvae in Myanmar. We purchased total 37 Asian swamp eels, Monopterus albus, from a local market in Yangon in June and December 2013 and 2014. All collected eels were transferred with ice to our laboratory and each of them was examined by the artificial digestion technique. A total of 401 larval gnathostomes (1-96 larvae/eel) were detected in 33 (89.2%) swamp eels. Most of the larvae (n=383; 95.5%) were found in the muscle. The remaining 18 larvae were detected in the viscera. The advanced third-stage larvae ($AdL_3$) were 2.3-4.4 mm long and 0.25-0.425 mm wide. The characteristic head bulb ($0.093{\times}0.221mm$ in average size) with 4 rows of hooklets, muscular long esophagus (1.025 mm), and 2 pairs of cervical sacs (0.574 mm) were observed by light microscopy. The average number of hooklets in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rows was 41, 45, 48, and 51, respectively. As scanning electron microscopic findings, the characteristic 4-5 rows of hooklets on the head bulb, a cervical papilla, tegumental spines regularly arranged in the transverse striations, and an anus were well observed. Based on these morphological characters, they were identified as the AdL3 of Gnathostoma spinigerum. By the present study, it has been confirmed for the first time that Asian swamp eels, M. albus, from Yangon, Myanmar are heavily infected with G. spinigerum larvae.
Objectives : Transient inflammation has been demonstrated to alter visceral sensory function in animal models and acute mucosal inflammation may precede the manifestation of visceral hyperalgesia. Thus in this study we compared effects of herbal acupuncture of Nidus Vespae (NV) applied to the different acupoints in the acute colitis induced by trinitrobenzenesulphonic acid (TNBS) intracolonic injection in rats. Methods : In Male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250 ~ 400 g, TNBS (5 mg/kg) was infused intrarectally through a silicon rubber catheter into the anus under isoflurane anaesthesia. Under general anesthesia, acupoints of LI4 (Hapkok), SI25 (Cheonchu), ST36 (Joksamni), BL25 (Daejangsu) were intramuscularly injected by NV. Expressions of cFos protein in the periaqueductal gray (PAG), locus coeruleus (LC), nucleus of solitary tract (Sol), and the 6th lumbar spinal cord (L6 s.c.) were observed at 24 hrs after TNBS induced colitis by immunohistochemistry. Results : The expression of c-Fos protein in L6 s.c., Sol, LC and PAG increased 24 hrs after TNBS injection into colorectum as compared to normal group. NV herbal acupuncture also inhibited the expression of c-Fos protein in Sol but not L6 s.c., LC, and PAG. NV to ST36 inhibited significantly the c-Fos expression in Sol and PAG. NV to ST25 inhibited the c-Fos protein expression all over the observation area. NV to BL25 showed the inhibitory effects in the areas except LC. Whether or not a role of endogenous opioids, intrathecal injection of naltrexone (30 ug / 30 ul) was applied before the 2nd herbal acupuncture treatment 24 hrs after TNBS-induced colitis in rat. Naltrexone reversed the inhibition of c-Fos protein expression in the spinal cord and brainstem under different conditions such as type of herbal acupuncture compound and choice of acupoint. Conclusions : In summary, these data show that herbal acupuncture of NV inhibits signal pathways such as spinal cord and brain stem ascending hypersensitivity of colorectum after TNBS induced colitis. This effect may be mediated by acupoints through the endogenous opioid system involving the pain modulation.
Four species of Actinosporeans, Aurantiactinomyxon sp. A, B, C and Neoctinomyxon sp. D were released from Oligochaete, Branchiura sowerbyi captured from three reserviors, where intestinal giant-cystic disease in carp had occured from June to September, 1994. All part of the intestinal epithelial tissue from the gullet to the anus of B. sowerbyi were infected by Actino-sporeans, and many mature Actinosporean were seen more easily at the posterior parts of the body. Just before releasing, mature Actinosporean sporozoites were divied into each individual from the intestinal epithelial tissue of Oligochaete, while immature ones had 6 spores ($20{\times}25{\mu}m$ in size) per each in the oocyst ($60{\times}65{\mu}m$ in size). A total of 1, 762 of B. sowerbyi were investigated in three reservoirs, 86 individuals (4.88%) of them were infected; 0. 74% (13 ind.) of Aurantiactinomyxon sp. A, 2. 27% (40 ind.) of Aurantiactinomyxon sp. B, 1. 59% (28 ind.) of Aurantiactinomyxon sp. C, and 0. 28% (5 ind.) of Neoactinomyxon sp. D. At the room temperature of 22.6-$30.7^{\circ}C$, number of extrusion dates of Actinosporeans from B. sowerbyi for 32 days are 1 day (23.3% of total, 1 time) or 5 days (11.7%. 5 times), and the majority was finished within 15 days, however, 6.7% of total were released for 32 days.

Since March in 2013, Inland Aquaculture Research Center, NFRDI has cultivated 1,000 wild swamp eel(Monopterus albus) for species conservation research. While cultivating, 100 fishes showed clinical sign that darkness color, mucus hypersecretion and anus rubor. Even some of them were died. Result of anatomical test, all 100 fishes were infected with intestinal parasite, acanthocephalan. So we were going to determine the case of acanthocephalans infection in swamp eel(Monopterus albus) as histopathologically. Acanthocephalan was founded in alimentary canal only. Parasite were confirmed 19 unit in individual fish, averagely. Heavy infected fishes were confirmed enterocleisis by acanthocephalans. Worms were attachment in submucosa layer of alimentary canal by invading proboscis. Characteristic symptoms were observed in stomach and intestine, including hyperemia in mucous epithelium, infiltration of eosinophills in submucosa layer, inflammation, parasitic granuloma. Some fishes showed vacuolization of gastricgland epithelium, necrosis of intestinal mucosa. Other organs, excluding alimentary canal, were not found lesion. The results of this study, the effect of the acanthocephalan infection on swamp eel(Monopterus albus) could find and it seems to be a big help in the future swamp eel(Monopterus albus) cultivation.
The digestive tract of the black sea bream, Acanthopagrus schlegeli is composed of esophagus, stomach, intestine, anus and four or five pyloric caeca. Pyloric caecum is a blind sac in shape and originated from pyloric portion of the stomach. Relative length of But (RLG), that is length of digestive tract to standard length, is 1.04 (n=10). Histological layer of the digestive tract is composed of serous membrane, muscular layer, undeveloped submucosal layer and mucosal layer. The mucosal folds of the esophagus are regular branched form, Esophageal muscularis mucosae is well-developed. Mucosal epithelial layer is composed of cuboidal or columnar epithelium and mucous secretory cell. Microvilli are absent in the free surface of mucosal epithelium. The mucosal folds of the stomach are regular unbranched form. The stomach has a well-developed muscular layer and muscularis mucosae. Microvilli are present in the free surface of mucosal surface epithelium. The fundic portion of the stomach have a well-developed gastric gland and more numerous secretory granules than the other parts. The mucosal folds of the pyloric caeca and the intestine are irregular branched form, Intestine is divided into the anterior, mid and posterior intestines with length of mucosal folds and histological features, Posterior intestine has a more developed striated border and goblet cells than the other parts. Mid intestine has a more abundant absorptive cells than the other parts in the intestine and pyloric caeca.

A capsule endoscopy is a medical device that can capture an entire digestive organ from the esophagus to the anus at one time. It produces a vast amount of images consisted of about 8~12 hours in length and more than 50,000 frames on a single examination. However, since the analysis of endoscopic images is performed manually by a medical imaging specialist, the automation requirements of the analysis are increasing to assist diagnosis of the disease in the image. Among them, this study focused on automatic detection of polyp images. A polyp is a protruding lesion that can be found in the gastrointestinal tract. In this paper, we propose a weighted-image generation method to enhance the polyp image learning by multi-scale analysis. It is a way to extract the suspicious region of the polyp through the multi-scale analysis and combine it with the original image to generate a weighted image, that can enhance the polyp image learning. We experimented with SVM and RF which is one of the machine learning methods for 452 pieces of collected data. The F1-score of detecting the polyp with only original images was 89.3%, but when combined with the weighted images generated by the proposed method, the F1-score was improved to about 93.1%.

An 84-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with a chief complaint of pressure sores of the anus. She had a urine catheter when she showed pyuria three times but had no fever. A microscopic examination revealed many grapevine-like Gram positive strains and neutrophils. After 24 hours of urine culture on blood agar, non-hemolytic mucous colonies were found and further enlarged after 48 hours of culture. The capsules were identified after India ink stain. The catalase was positive, but the tube coagulase and latex coagulase were both negative. The S. aureus was identified by Vitek-2 and mass spectrometer Vitek MS V-3 IVD. The strain was confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and multilocus sequence typing (MLST). The phenotypically atypical MRSA found in the tube coagulase and latex coagulase were both negative. MRSA often show no beta hemolysis as in this case but are rarely latex coagulase-negative. We report a woman whose urine culture showed non-hemolytic, tube coagulase-negative, and latex coagulase-negative MRSA.
We investigated to elucidate the early life history of siberian stone loach, Barbatula nuda (Pisces: Nemacheilidae). Adult fish were collected using net in the Sangcheoncheon Stream, Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, 26th April 2020. HCG 10 IU/g was injected to female and male fish and fertilized by dry method in the laboratory. The number of eggs of B. nuda was 1,308±293 (TL: 70.64~79.24 mm), and the egg color was yellowish grey. Fertilized eggs measured 1.13±0.01 mm (n=10) in diameter and showed adhesion. The fertilized eggs started hatching after 104 hours. At the time of egg development, the 15℃ group showed an average hatching rate of 80.1±1.2% and the 20℃ group showed 61.5±6.8%, so the 15℃ group was suitable (p<0.05). Newly hatched larva an average were 3.12±0.06 mm (n=10) in total length. At 4 days after hatching, the total length was 4.89±0.09 mm (n=10), and feeding began with the mouth and anus opened, and entered to preflexion larvae stage. At 21 days after hatching, the total length was 10.98±0.40 mm (n=10), and the distal part of the notochord was bent to 45°, and entered to postflexion larvae stage At 26 days after hatching, the total length was 13.47±0.37 mm (n=10), and entered the juvenile stage.
Egg development and morphological change of larvae and juvenile of the Roughscale sole, Clidoderma asperrimum, were investigated in the present study. Adult fishes were collected on the East Sea, Korea, from 2017 to 2018 and reared in a circular water tank (Ø 6×1 m) at water temperature of 12.8±1.9℃. Fertilized eggs ranged from 1.42 to 1.59 mm (mean 1.51±0.04 mm, n=50) in diameter. The eggs were spherical in shape, transparent, floating and colorless. The egg yolk was separated from the egg membrane 60 mins post-fertilization (PF), and an embryo was formed in 62 hrs PF. More than 50% of the eggs hatched within 144 hrs PF in the range of 10.2~11℃(mean 10.8℃). The size of the newly hatched larvae were 4.22~4.64 mm (mean 4.53±0.16 mm) in total length (TL), their mouth and anus were not open yet. At 10 days after hatching, the preflexion larvae reached 5.88~6.62 mm (mean 6.31±0.33 mm) in TL, and the yolk absorption was completed and the mouth began to open. At 55 days after hatching the larvae reached to flexion larvae stage and they were 10.4~13.3 mm (mean 12.7±1.3 mm) in TL, and the tip of notochord was bent upward. At 120 days after hatching the larvae reached to juvenile stage and they were 35.3~40.5 mm (mean 39.5±2.4 mm) in TL. Their all fins had completed set of the fin-rays (D. 79~94: A. 63~75) and the juveniles adopted a benthic life.
