The Influence of Soft/Hard Segment Composition and Content on the Abrasion Resistance of Polyurethane Coating Agents (폴리우레탄 코팅제에 있어서 Hard Segment와 Soft Segment의 조성 및 함량변화가 내마모성에 미치는 영향)

  • Weatherstrip coatings of urethane and silicon type which are fit to EPDM and thermoplastic materials are used in sealing systems for automotive applications for noise reduction and high slip characteristics for external applications, respectively. Polyurethane binder was successfully synthesized from poly(butyladiphate)diol (PBAD), poly(tetramethylene)glycol (PTMG) and isocyanate as starting materials. Then, polyurethane coating agents were prepared by using various additives. To investigate effects of segment types on the abrasion resistance of polyurethane coating agents, thin films based on polyurethane coating materials were fabricated. With increasing the amount of hard segment in the coating agent, abrasion resistance, modulus and tensile strength of the coating films were improved, but the elongation of the coating films was decreased.

  • This paper presents a mathematical vehicle model that is designed to analyze the dynamic performance and to develop various safety control systems. Wheel slip controllers for ABS is also formulated to improve the vehicle response and to increase the safety on slippery road. Validation of the model and controller is performed by comparison with a commercial software package, CarSim. The result shows that performances of developed vehicle model are in good accordance with those of the CarSim on various driving conditions. Developed ABS controller is applied to the vehicle model and CarSim model, and it achieves good control performance. ABS controller improves lateral stability as well as longitudinal one when a vehicle is in turning maneuver on slippery road. A driver model is also designed to control steer angle of the vehicle model. It also shows good performance because the vehicle tracks the desired lane very well.

  • This study aims to develop a system that enables 20 to 25 wafers to be automatically aligned at the position of the corresponding serial number and facilitates the checkout of wafer processing by sensing them before and after semiconductor processing. It also suggests compensation algorithm and stepper motor control algorithm that carefully align notches. This study minimizes the rate of occurrence by adopting materials of which the surface has proper coefficient of friction when wafers are rotating and that do not rarely produce particles. This study completed the development of a slip resistance apparatus and carried out performance tests through mathematical verification. This system is expected to improve semiconductor yield due to anti-pollution technology in semiconductor processing and can be selectively applied to a large size wafer over 450mm in the future.

Factors Related to Fall in Elderly Patients with Osteoporosis (골다공증 노인 환자의 낙상 관련요인에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors of fall and to examine its results among patients aged 60 and over diagnosed with osteoporosis. Methods: A retrospective descriptive survey was conducted with 91 patients admitted in a university hospital in a city. Data were collected using an interview method with a structured questionnaire, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression. Results: In patients with osteoporosis, the intrinsic risk factors of falls were aging (OR = 3.742), gait disturbance (OR = 12.565), taking one or fewer medicine (OR = 7.873), and having two or more diseases (OR = 5.173). The extrinsic risk factors included the use of a bed (OR = 3.093), slippery floors (OR = 12.130), bathroom mat without anti-slip rubber backing (OR = 3.564), and presence of a night light on the passage from the bedroom to the bathroom (OR = 2.980). Conclusion: For the elderly aged over 70 who are most vulnerable to falls, screening tests such as bone mineral density (BMD) should be conducted in health examinations and the risk of fracture caused by osteoporosis should be communicated to the vulnerable elderly. Besides, development of new exercise programs combining weightbearing exercise is needed to prevent bone loss and increase functional activities.

Using an ABS Controller and Rear Wheel Controller for Stability Improvement of a Vehicle (ABS 제어 및 후륜조향 제어기를 이용한 차량 안정성 개선에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a mathematical model which is about the dynamics of not only a two wheel steering vehicle but a four wheel steering vehicle. A sliding mode ABS control strategy and PID rear wheel control logic are developed to improve the brake and cornering performances, and enhance the stability during emergency maneuvers. The performances of the controllers are evaluated under the various driving road conditions and driving situations. The numerical study shows that the proposed full car model is sufficient to accurately predict the vehicle response. The proposed ABS controller reduces the stopping distance and increases the vehicle stability. The results also prove that the ABS controller can be employed to a four wheel steering vehicle and improves its performance. The four wheel steering vehicle with PID rear wheel controller shows increase of stability when a vehicle speed is high and sharp cornering maneuver when a vehicle speed is low compared to that of a two wheel steer vehicle.

Design and Evaluation of AFS and ARS Controllers with Sliding Mode Control and Fuzzy Logic Control Method (Sliding Mode Control 및 Fuzzy Logic Control 방법을 이용한 AFS 및 ARS 제어기 설계 및 성능 평가)

  • This study is to develop and evaluate an AFS and an ARS controllers to enhance lateral stability of a vehicle. A sliding mode control (SMC) and a fuzzy logic control (FLC) methods are applied to calculate the desired additional steering angle of AFS equipped vehicle or desired rear steer angle of ARS equipped vehicle. To validate AFS and ARS systems, an eight degree of freedom, nonlinear vehicle model and an ABS controllers are also used. Several road conditions are used to test the performances. The results showed that the yaw rate of the AFS and the ARS vehicle followed the reference yaw rate very well within the adhesion limit. However, the AFS improves the lateral stability near the limit compared with the ARS. Because the SMC and the FLC show similar vehicle responses, performance discrimination is small. On split-${\mu}$ road, the AFS and the ARS vehicle had enhanced the lateral stability.

A Suitability Selection for Marine Afforestation with Physical Environments (바다숲 조성해역의 물리적 환경을 고려한 최적 적지선정)

  • A suitability analysis for marine afforestation was carried out on physical items based on slop rate, bottom sediment, light intensity, velocity, and wave at north Geomoon waters in Korea. The data from each physical item were changed to a GSDM (Gridded Spatial Distribution Map) using Kriging interpolation. A GSDM grid includes information, and each grid was given a SI (suitability index) of 3 grades(SI of first suitability was 100, SI of second suitability was 50, and non-suitability had no SI). According to the analysis results of all overlaid GSDM, first suitability had 500 SI, and suitability area was 0.25ha. Second and third suitability had 400~450 SI, and suitability area was 2.36ha, 1.80ha, respectively. Therefore, the results suggest that reefs installed for marine afforestation should be anti-slip types against steep slope, and the target species need to include algae with low compensation light intensity in second and third suitability.

A Study on Interior Flooring Materials for Safe Elderly Nursing Home Environment (안전한 노인요양시설 환경을 위한 실내 바닥마감재에 관한 연구)

  • The number of elderly who wants to access to Nursing Homes (NH) will increase due to the rapid aging society and domestic changes. Those who move into NH expect 24/7 care service in safe environment. Providing space free from danger, especially from fall, for the frail elderly is essential. The purpose of this study is to categorize performance needs of flooring materials in the aspect of safety, and analyze materials so that adequate ones for each space in NH can be suggested. Performance needs are as follows; slip resistance (dry/wet), fire resistance, resilience, water resistance, soil retardant, anti-bacterial, gloss, sound absorbtion. maintenance, durability, ease replacement, color and pattern variety, visual and tactual texture, tactile warmth, IAQ, sustainable material (before use), impact to nature (after use). They are categorized under function, economy, sensibility and sustainability. It was found that there are better materials than common ones that has been used repeatedly in NHs, such as vinyl sheets and VCT. In overall, Cork flooring and nylon carpet met all four categories, followed by wool carpet, rubber and linoleum. For bedroom, wood flooring, Cork, rubber, wool carpet, nylon carpets were suggested. In bathroom with shower, rubber, vinyl sheet and porcelain tiles were safe materials. As living/dining room and corridor floors, wool carpet, nylon carpet, cork flooring would be excellent as they are resilient and durable. The result of this paper can be used by both NH managers and material companies, resulting better quality of life of the elderly by providing safe environment.

BACK(MAIN) WHEEL AND HANDRIM MOVEMENT ANALYSIS / Seat and wheel as the most important component of a wheelchair, study the relation of handrim and hand movement and test the most effective and comfortable handrim. Direction of the study was concerntrated on three areas, with results and information collected, would like to suggest design change of X type collapsible chair in areas of size of SEAT(air pocket type), HANDRIM(anti-slip hump), ARMHEST(transfer movement, rubber padding. accent), and HANDLE(adjustable, round type).   • In recent years, non-welded building hardware has been installed by bolt assembly is used. The non-welded building hardware method can reduce accidents caused by welding, and can be constructed by bolt assembly, which can reduce labor costs and shorten the construction period. However, there is a need for a method to compensate for the occurrence of buckling at the time of construction. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the behavior of joints between steel pipe and fastener and to evaluate the behavior of joints of non-welded and welded hardware frame. As a result, it was found that the foundation steel structure without welded joints was deformed to a rotation angle of member much larger than the allowable interlayer displacement angle 0.01 to 0.02 required according to the seismic load rating in the seismic load resistance system.
