The high resolution solution structure of MCP-3 was determined using multinuclear, multidimensional NMR spectroscopy with an expressed and $^{13}C-\;and\;^{15}N-labeled$ protein. The MCP-3 has a typical chemokine fold including 3 anti-parallel $\beta-sheets$, and a C-terminal helix, but it exists as a monomer in solution under the conditions where the structure was determined (2 mM, pH 5.1 at $30^{\circ}C$). Based on the structure and the amino acid sequence compared to other chemokines we propose that Ile20 and Leu25 in MCP-3 play key roles in the formation of N-loop (residues between the $2^{nd}$ cysteine and the I sheet) which has been implicated as a determinant of chemokine specificity. Additional receptor binding surface is supplied by the 40s loop (residues between the 2 and the 3 sheet) and the binding interface of the acidic N-terminal region of chemokine receptor to MCP-3 would resemble the dimerization interface of CC type dimer.

Acoustic emission (AE) signal from an HTS tape has a low signal to noise ratio, due to the large amount of noise caused by the boiling of the liquid cryogen or mechanical vibration from the cryo-cooler. In an attempt to improve the sensitivity of the AE sensor, $Pb(Zr_{0.54}Ti_{0.46})O_3$ + 0.2 wt% $Cr_2O_3$ + 1.0 wt.% $Nb_2O_5$ ceramics sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ was synthesized. In addition, the resonance ($f_r$) and anti-resonance frequencies ($f_a$) were measured using the specimens with various thicknesses (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm). According to the test results, large AE signals with high frequencies were obtained from the AE sensor fabricated using a piezoelectric disc with a thinner thickness.

O-2-$^{18}F$-fluoroethyl-l-tyrosine ($[^{18}F]FET$) has been widely used for glioblastomas (GBM) in clinical practice, although evaluation of its applicability in non-clinical research is still lacking. The objective of this study was to examine the value of $[^{18}F]FET$ for treatment evaluation and prognosis prediction of anti-angiogenic drug in an orthotopic mouse model of GBM. Human U87MG cells were implanted into nude mice and then bevacizumab, a representative anti-angiogenic drug, was administered. We monitored the effect of anti-angiogenic agents using multiple imaging modalities, including bioluminescence imaging (BLI), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT). Among these imaging methods analyzed, only $[^{18}F]FET$ uptake showed a statistically significant decrease in the treatment group compared to the control group (P=0.02 and P=0.03 at 5 and 20 mg/kg, respectively). This indicates that $[^{18}F]FET$ PET is a sensitive method to monitor the response of GBM bearing mice to anti-angiogenic drug. Moreover, $[^{18}F]FET$ uptake was confirmed to be a significant parameter for predicting the prognosis of anti-angiogenic drug (P=0.041 and P=0.007, on Days 7 and 12, respectively, on Pearson's correlation; P=0.048 and P=0.030, on Days 7 and 12, respectively, on Cox regression analysis). However, results of BLI or MRI were not significantly associated with survival time. In conclusion, this study suggests that $[^{18}F]FET$ PET imaging is a pertinent imaging modality for sensitive monitoring and accurate prediction of treatment response to anti-angiogenic agents in an orthotopic model of GBM.

We performed a basic experiment for rapid, on-line, real-time measurement of HBsAg by using a surface plasmon resonance biosensor to quantify the recognition and interaction of biomolecules. We immobilized the anti-HBsAg polyclonal antibody to the dextran layer on a CM5 chip surface which was pre-activated by N-hydroxysuccinimide for amine coupling. The binding of the HBsAg to the immobilized antibody was measured by the mass increase detected by the change in the SPR signal. The binding characteristics between HBsAg and its antibody followed typical monolayer adsorption isotherm. When the entire immobilized antibody was interacted, there was no additional, non-specific binding observed, which suggested the biointeraction was very specific as expected and independent of the ligand density. No significant steric hindrance was observed at 17.6 nm/$mm^2$ immobilization density. The relationship between the HBsAg concentration in the sample solution and the antigen bound to the chip surface was linear up to ca. $40\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, which is much wider than that of the ELISA method. It appeared the antigen-antibody binding was increased as the immobilized ligand density increased, but verification is warranted. This study showed the potential of this biosensor-based method as a rapid, simple, multi-sample, on-line assay. Once properly validated, it can serve as a more powerful method for HBsAg quantification replacing the current ELISA method.

When aiming to reduce the low frequency noise of a subway guest room through sound absorbing treatment methods inside the wall of a tunnel the resonator is often more effective than a porous sound absorbing material. Therefore, the perforated panel type resonator embedded with a perforated panel is proposed. The perforated panel is installed in the neck, which is then extended into the resonator cavity so that it can ensure useful volume. The absorption performance of the perforated panel type of resonator is obtained by acoustic analysis and experiment. The analytical results are in good agreement with the experimental results. In the case of multiple perforated panel type resonators, as the number of perforated panels increase, the 1st resonance frequency is moved to a low frequency band and sound absorption bandwidth is extended on the whole. In order to obtain excellent absorption performance, the impedance matching between multi-panels should be considered. When the perforated panel in the resonator is combined with a porous material, the absorption performance is highly enhanced in the anti-resonance and high frequency range. In case of the resonator inserted with perforated panels of 2, the 2nd resonance frequency is shifted to a low frequency band in proportion to the distance between perforated panels.

This paper is on the vibration control of access floor on the frames of reinforced structure. In this study, the horizontal anti-vibration system using precise spring damper was developed and modeling and vibration analysis of the RC structure was performed for the control of horizontal vibration coused by machinery and worker's moving. Experiment was done in three cases, no damper at the RC structures, dampers connecting pedestal to pedestal and pedestal to the structure, for the investigation of the effect of the system on disigned RC structure. For each experiment, the occeleration responses on slab and access floor after giving impact wave and external vibration were measured. It was shown that the magnitude of resonance response of the system with dampers are smaller than without damper and the resonance peak also partly moved to low-frequency range. Furthermore. It was shown that the acceleration components of the system with domoers decreased greatly in high-frequency range and the system was very much effective especially for external vibration. In order to verify the anti-vibration effect of the developed system, the vibration analysis was also done for the system by using the finite element modelling. The analysis results was in good agreement with experimental results. Thus, It is concluded that this study is useful for the design of precise anti-vibration system and micro-vibration control of concrete structures.

Transducer for ultrasonic linear motor with the symmetric and anti-symmetric modes was studied. The ultrasonic linear motor consists of two Langevin type piezoelectric vibrators that cross at right angles with each other in tip. In order to excite symmetric and anti-symmetric modes, the transducer must have a phase shift of 90 degree in space and time. Therefore, the tip of transducer moves on an elliptical motion. In this paper, the finite element analysis was used to optimize dimension and displacement of the transducer. The ultrasonic motor was fabricated using the simulated result and the driving characteristics were measured. No-load velocity was 0.28[m/s] and the maximum efficiency was 30[%] in resonance frequency.

This paper described operation and vibration characteristics of a 'tail-fan' anti-torque performance test system. KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) developed a 'tail-fan' anti-torque system of a helicopter and a performance test-rig to test the performance of the tail-fan. The performance test-rig consists of driving, supporting and rotating parts. In the process of the performance test, firstly, operation test of the test-rig were carried out to verify design specifications. Secondly, natural frequencies of fan blade and test-rig were measured respectively. Lastly, to find the operation rotating speed for the performance test, vibration test were carried out using accelerometers on tail gear box. The performance test conditions of the tail-fan to avoid a resonance were found from the fan-plot and vibration test results. The tail-fan performance tests were well done safely.

The preS1 surface protein of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a key factor involved in initial viral entry into hepatocytes. It has been long postulated that an anti-HBV effect should be achievable using peptide fragments of the preS1. Recent reports demonstrated that several preS1-derived lipo-peptides in genotype D HBV exhibit nano to picomolar inhibitory activity against HBV infection. In this study, an acylated analog of a preS1 fragment, a 21-residue lipo-peptide (named 7524 BVS7) with a sequence of palmitoyl-GMGTNLSVPNPLGFFPDHQLDC-$NH_2$, from genotype C HBV was produced base upon a previous structural study and was shown potently inhibits HBV infection with an $IC_{50}$ of $\approx$ 20 nM.

In the engine room and the aft part areas of the ship, there exist so many tank structures contacting with fresh water or sea water or oil. If these structures exhibit excessive vibrations during the sea trials, it takes a lot of cost, time and effort to improve vibration situation because the reinforcement work requires emptying the fluid out of the tanks, additional welding and special painting. It is therefore very important to predict a precise vibration characteristics of the tank structures at the design stage, however it is not easy to estimate vibration characteristics of the structures because of difficulties for accurate evaluation of the added (or virtual) mass effect due to the fluid inside the tank. In this paper, numerical and experimental approaches have been performed to present same fundamental data necessary for anti-vibration design of tank structures contacting with fluid, by investigating vibration behaviors of rectangular tank structure for various water depths.
