A toxoplasmic uveitis case was reported on the focus of impairment of pathological findings and serological antibody titers after chemotherapy. A chief complaint of a 60-year-old male was a decreased and blurred vision in his right eye for 2 weeks after experiencing tremendous stress and fatigue. A steroid therapy for 3 weeks was not effective and the retinal lesion became necrotic. Anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibody titer was checked to be a strong positive by both ELISA and indirect latex agglutination assay (lLA). He was treated with Fansidar F for 8 weeks. His vision improved as the necrotic lesion healed by scarring, but the antibody titers still remained very high without any signs of negative conversion. It is suggested to be a recurrent case of the past asymptomatic infection by presumed immune suppression caused by excessive stress.

Physical metallurgy aspects of gaseous ferritic nitrocarburising are reviewed in the light of basic studies undertaken since 1975 which have illustrated inconsistencies between the iron-carbon-nitrogen ternary phase diagram at $570^{\circ}C$ and the experimental observation of the co-existence of the ${\varepsilon}$ carbonitride phase and ferrite. Thermodynamic investigations by Xu and Li together with those by Slycke et al are reviewed to illustrate compatability between a modified isothermal section of the Fe-C-N system and the formation and growth of a monophased ${\varepsilon}$ structure under a variety of processing conditions. The implications of the modified diagram in terms of innovations in industrial ferritic nitrocarburising practice are discussed, together with limitations on the control of the process. The importance of the developing technology of black nitrocarburising for enhanced wear, fatigue, and corrosion resistance is emphasised. Basic studies and industrial status of austenitic nitrocarburising treatments are also reviewed, which highlight the importance of substrate strengthening for high load bearing applications of anti-scuff thermochemical treatments.

본 연구에서는 저령(Grifola umbellata)의 균핵을 끓여 추출물을 얻어 이것이 실험용 생쥐에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 생쥐에 저령 열수 추출물(100 mg/kg 체중)을 1일 1회 2일간 복강투여 했을 때 암 발생의 원인이 될 수 있는 superoxide radical의 생성은 대조군에 비해 약 22% 가량 억제되었으나, 지방과산화는 대조군과 별다른 차이를 보이지 않았다. 반면에 항피로능은 대조군에 비해 추출물 투여군의 유영기간이 약 1.8배 가량 증가되어 저령의 열수 추출물에 항피로 효과성분이 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a disease of unknown etiology that affects many organ system and is characterized by the presence of multiple autoantibodies that participated in immunology mediated tissue injury. A 36 years-old female patient was admitted to ward due to high fever and erythematous rash on face and hole body. She exhibited itching sense, joint pain, nausea, fatigue, sensitivity to light. The homatologic finding revealed anemia, decrease of lymphocyte, low platelet count, but LE cell, Anti nuclear antibody(ANA) were negative. In the point of Differentiation of Syndrome(辨證), SLE can be thought to be a category of Seasonal febril disease(溫病). This subject diagnosed as Domination of intense evil heat(熱毒熾盛), and was administrated with Chungonpadocyem-gamibang(淸瘟敗毒飮加味方). The clinical and laboratory findings of our patient were improved by herb medication, acupuncture therapy and general supportive measure.

The sudden deafness is generaly defined as sensorineural hearing loss without definite cause. The medical treatment of this disease is purposed on hemokinetic improvement and anti-inflammatory action. There are various prognoses such as perfect recovery or loss of hearing. The symptoms are easily redeveloped by fatigue or psychological stress. We treated two patients, who diagnosed as the flare of Liver fire and the flare based on insufficiency of Kidney Yin, of sudden deafness with herbal medication, acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal acupuncture. The symptoms were improved after three or four times of treatment.

The essence of ABS(Anti-skid Brake System) control is to continuously adjust brake pressure to maintain optimum brake torque. This optimum level should balance tire and runway friction its peak value, yielding maximum braking deceleration. It influences not only the deceleration and the taxing distance of an aircraft, but also the strength and the fatigue life of the landing gear. In this paper, an ABS control algorithm is developed with a dynamics model of 5-DOFD(Degree of Freedom). The algorithm is verified by simulations and the simulation results are presented. The dynamics model is simulated by the computer.

The thermal spray coating process is being used to protect the metals and alloys from wear, abrasion, fatigue, tribology, and corrosion failure. Therefore, in the present study, Al and Zn was deposited by plasma arc thermal spray process onto the steel substrate and their performance was assessed. The bond adhesion result shows that Al coating has higher value attributed to compact, dense, and less porous compared to Zn coating which contain defects/pores and uneven morphology assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical results show that the Al coating exhibited higher impedance value compared to Zn in artificial ocean water solution at prolonged exposure periods. However, both coatings show the increment in polarization resistance with exposure periods which reveal that porosity of coatings is filled by the corrosion products.

본 논문은 KTX 안티롤바 너클부의 동특성 및 구조 안전성 평가를 위해 시험 및 수치적 방법을 사용하였다. 시험적 방법에서는 KTX와 KTX-산천 안티롤바 너클부의 동특성을 비교 평가하기 위해 호남선의 운행환경을 고려한 가속도 및 변형률 데이터를 각각 측정하였으며, 수치적 방법에서는 너클부에 대해 LS-DYNA 3D를 사용하여 구조 안전성 평가를 수행하였다. 이때 해석에 사용된 유한요소모델은 시험과 비교평가를 통해 신뢰성을 검증하였다. 수치해석 결과, 얇은 금속판 및 고무의 적층구조로 이루어진 너클부의 응력 및 속도장이 너클과 커넥팅로드 사이의 상대적 접촉 감소로 인해 두꺼운 강재로만 이루어진 너클부에 비해 좀 더 완화된 경향을 보였다. 그 결과 얇은 금속판과 고무로 구성된 너클 구조가 반복적인 외력 하중하에서 KTX 안티롤바의 탄성거동을 허용하여 동적 거동하의 구조적 안전성을 향상시키기 위한 최선의 방법임을 확인하였다.

Objectives : Increased oxidative stress by reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been suggested as a major cause of muscle fatigue. Although several studies have demonstrated the various biological properties of Sophora flavescens Aiton, Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fischer and Dictamnus dasycarpus Turcz, but the antioxidative potentials have not been clearly demonstrated. The present study was designed to investigate the protective effects of their water and ethanol extract mixtures (medicinal herbal mixtures, MHMIXs) on hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$)-induced cell damage and apoptosis in C2C12 myoblasts. Methods : Cytotoxicity was assessed by an MTT assay. Quantitative evaluation of apoptosis induction and ROS production was evaluated by flow cytometry analysis. Expression levels of apoptosis regulatory and DNA-damage proteins were detected by Western blotting. Result : The inhibition of $H_2O_2$-induced cell proliferation was effectively blocked in extracts of 3: 1: 1 (EMHMIXs-1) or 2: 2: 1 (EMHMIXs-2) of S. flavescens, G. uralensis and D. dasycarpus Turcz, ethanol extracts from various complex extracts in C2C12 myoblasts. EMHMIXs-1 and EMHMIXs-2 also effectively attenuated $H_2O_2$-induced C2C12 cell apoptosis, which was associated with the restoration of the upregulation of Bad and death receptor 4, and downregulation of XIAP and cIAP-1 induced by $H_2O_2$. In addition, these herbal mixtures significantly blocked the $H_2O_2$-induced ROS generation and phosphorylation of $p-{\gamma}H2A.X$, which suggests that they can prevent $H_2O_2$-induced cellular DNA damage. Conclusions : The results suggest that EMHMIXs-1 and EMHMIXs-2 could block the DAN damage and apoptosis of C2C12 myoblasts by oxidative stress through blocking ROS generation.

The reason that aromatherapy began to draw attention again as the alternative therapy is because the essential oils that are used for aromatherapy not only allow the human body to maintain homeostasis but also have an effect on curing a mental feeling of fatigue and because these efficacies and effects are proceeding with being proved scientifically. Also, with coming to be high in a voice of concern about severally side effects that the modern medicine and the synthetic chemistry have, the aromatherapy came to be paid attention as the replacement therapy that can substitute for and supplement this. In particular, at the time of requiring a study on a substance to substitute for this after having been announced in Japan for 1998 a risk of Zincpyrithione that is being used as a component of dandruff treatment, it is thought that the aroma oil that was known for having an anti-dandruff effect has a merit of being easy in a user's access, thus it will be effective in curing the symptom of dandruff. Accordingly, this study conducted the following experiment in a bid to examine whether the aroma oil has the anti-microbial effect on the actual malassezia. First of all, it measured the minimum concentration of aroma oil in which the growth of malassezia is inhibited, by carrying out MIC(Minimum Inhibition Concentration) test in terms of anti-microbial activity against Malassezia furfur KCTC 7744 while using oils of Patchouli, Rosemary, Lavender, and Tea tree among aroma oils that are being used for dandruff treatment. As a result of that, Tea tree oil has the most excellent anti-microbial activity, and the measurement result of anti-microbial activity was shown in order of Lavender oil>Rosemary oil>Patchouli oil. Next, it carried out the is actually eased by applying Tea tree oil directly to the scalp of dandruff. In consequence of the experiment, the massage of Tea tree oil indicated the result of relieving the symptoms of dandruff such as scale, itch, pain, inflammation, and sebum, and among these symptoms of dandruff, it was shown to be most effective in easing itch. Especially, this clinical experiment was indicated that the massage of Tea tree oil has the most effect on relieving itch of targets with a dry-skin type who had no experience of dandruff treatment.
