  • A core technological base to provide enhanced data rates required by 5G mobile wireless communications is the improved bandwidth efficiency using massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission. MIMO transmission requires the channel estimation using the channel state information reference signaling (CSI-RS) and appropriate beamforming, thus the design of the codebook defining proper beamforming vectors is an important issue. In this paper, we propose a multi-rank codebook based on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix, by utilizing statistical properties of the channel generated by the spatial channel model (SCM). The proposed method includes a structural change of the precoding matrix indicator (PMI) by considering the phase difference distributions between adjacent antenna elements, as well as the selected codevector characteristics of each transmission layer. Performance gain of the proposed method is evaluated and verified by making the performance comparison to the 3GPP standard codebooks adopted by Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems.

  • cdma2000 offers several enhancement as compared to TIA/EIA-95, although it remains fully compatible with TIA/EIA-95 systems and allows for a smooth migration from one to the other-Major new capability include:1)connectivity to GSM-MAP in addition to IP and IS-41 networks; 2) new layering with new LAC and MAC architectures for improved service multiplexing and QoS management and efficient use of radio resource ;3) new bands and band widths of operation in support of various operator need and constraints, as well as desire for a smooth and progressive migration to cdma 2000; and 4) flexible channel structure in support of multiple services with various QoS and variable transmission rates at up to 1 Mbps per channel and 2 Mbps per user. Given the phenomenal success of wireless services and desire for higher rate wireless services. improved spectrum efficiency was a major design goal in the elaboration of cdma2000. Major capacity enhancing features include; 1) turbo coding for data transmission: 2)fast forward link power control :3) forward link transmit diversity; 4) support of directive antenna transmission techniques; 5) coherent reverse link structure; and 6) enhanced access channel operation. As users increasingly rely on their cell phone at work and at home for voice and data exchange, the stand-by time and operation-time are essential parameters that can influence customer's satisfaction and service utilization. Another major goal of cdma2000 was therefore to enable manufacturers to further optimize power utilization in the terminal. Major battery life enhancing features include; 1) improved reverse link performance (i.e., reduced transmit power per information bit; 2) new common channel structure and operation ;3) quick paging channel operation; 4) reverse link gated transmission ; and 5) new MAC stated for efficient and ubiquitous idle time idle time operation. this article provides additional details on those enhancements. The intent is not to duplicate the detailed cdma2000 radio access network specification, but rather to provide some background on the new features of cdma2000 and on the qualitative improvements as compared to the TIA/EIA-95 based systems. The article is focused on the physical layer structure and associated procedures. It therefore does not cover the MAC, LAC, radio resource management [1], or any other signaling protocols in any detail. We assume some familiarity with the basic CDMA concepts used in TIA/EIA-95.

  • In this paper, the reception performance of spatial modulation multiple-output multiple-input (MIMO) is analyzed for high speed terrestrial broadcasting. The MIMO scheme is required to reduce the inter symbol interference (ISI) and spatial correlation. The spatial modulation scheme solves the problem of ISI, but the spatial correlation degrades the reception performance of SM scheme. The space-time block coded spatial modulation (STBC-SM) is combined the SM system with space-time block code (STBC) for reducing the effects of the spatial correlation. However, the STBC-SM scheme degrades the spectral efficiency by transmitting same data in the two symbol period. The double space-time transmit diversity with spatial modulation (DSTTD-SM) scheme transmits the data with full antenna combination. To adapt these SM MIMO systems into the terrestrial broadcasting system, the reception performance is analyzed using computer simulation in SUI channel environments.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the tracking error for the monopulse radar by controlling the phase difference, amplitude ratio and engagement angle of the cross-eye jammer. Cross-eye jamming is an important jamming method for monopulse radars, which causes a displacement in the radar receiving antenna input and misleads the radar's tracking angle. As a result of analyzing the tracking distance error of the radar while changing the engagement angle between the monopulse radar and jammer, the maximum distance error occurs when the engagement angle is 0° and the phase difference is 180°. It was confirmed that the error decreased to 70% or less of the maximum distance error into 45°~135°. In order to increase the efficiency of jammers, it is necessary to study rotary jammers or multi-channel jammers. This study will be very useful for the design of cross-eye jammers for aircraft and ships.

  • This paper is a study of 6~18 GHz wideband high power amplifier which is composed of 10 single amplifier and coaxial type spatial power combiner. The property of this spatial power combiner is on a similar principle to antipodal antenna radiation mechanism. Therefore, the key structure of proposed spatial power combiner is the antipodal finline PCB board and the finline curve shape is numerically synthesized by using Klopfensein's optimum impedance taper. The measured CW output power of spatial combined high power amplifier is nearly 50 W. In conclusion we prove the good combining performance between the spatial power combiner and 10 single amplifier over 6~18 GHz frequency ranges. Also, we developed the key component PA and MFC MMIC which controls the phase and gain of the each amplifier, The main characteristic of MFC MMIC is to maximize combining efficiency of power amplifier.

  • The response of Spirulina (Arthrospira) platensis to high salt stress was investigated by incubating the cells in light of moderate intensity in the presence of 0.8 M NaCl. NaCl caused a decrease in photosystem II (PSII) mediated oxygen evolution activity and increase in photosystem I (PSI) activity and the amount of P700. Similarly maximal efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) and variable fluorescence (Fv/Fo) were also declined in salt-stressed cells. Western blot analysis reveal that the inhibition in PSII activity is due to a 40% loss of a thylakoid membrane protein, known as D1, which is located in PSII reaction center. NaCl treatment of cells also resulted in the alterations of other thylakoid membrane proteins: most prominently, a dramatic diminishment of the 47-kDa chlorophyll protein (CP) and 94-kDa protein, and accumulation of a 17-kDa protein band were observed in SDS-PAGE. The changes in 47-kDa and 94-kDa proteins lead to the decreased energy transfer from light harvesting antenna to PSII, which was accompanied by alterations in the chlorophyll fluorescence emission spectra of whole cells and isolated thylakoids. Therefore we conclude that salt stress has various effects on photosynthetic electron transport activities due to the marked alterations in the composition of thylakoid membrane proteins.

  • We consider multiuser multiple antenna two-way relaying systems in which all users exchange their data with their counterparts with the help of a relay. The systems complete all data exchanges in two time phases called multiple access phase and broadcasting phase for spectral efficiency and therby require an effective scheme reducing self-interference (SI) and multiuser interference (MUI). Different from the conventional scheme suppressing both SI and MUI at the relay, the proposed scheme adopts SI cancelation (SIC) at the users and renders the relay to suppress the MUI mainly considering the SIC output. We analyze the symbol error rate (SER) and the achievable diversity order of the proposed scheme when the multiple access phase is dominant in the performance and obtain simulation results on the SER and the sum rate under various conditions. The results show that the proposed scheme improves the symbol error rate and the sum rate remarkably at the cost of complexity increase.

  • In this paper, in order to research spectrum usage efficiency in urban canyon environment at the microwave band, measurement and channel capacity analysis of multi-antenna technology is described. The measurement data obtained from 3 - 4 stories building area used and the propagation characteristics at the 3.7 and 8GHz band are analysed and compared. In case of $2{\times}2$ MIMO, channel capacities of 3.7 and 8 GHz band are calculated to 9.1 bps/Hz and S bps/Hz and in case of $4{\times}4$ MIMO, 21 bps/Hz and 12.5 bps/Hz respectively. Considering the coverage, SNR and channel capacity in urban environment, MIMO propagation characteristics of 3.7 GHz are more predominate than those of 8 GHz.

  • Purpose: This paper analyzes the phenomenon on the degradation of the electrical performance by the pressure in the manufacturing process of sandwich type radomes. Methods: This paper consists of two steps to analyze the relation between the electrical performance and the pressure. First, the thickness of the core of the flat panels which were fabricated with different pressure was measured with the microscope, and then the electrical performance of the flat panels was analyzed with simulation and experiment. Based on the results of the electrical performance and the measured thickness with respect to the flat panels, the relation between the electrical performance and the applied pressure in the manufacturing process was analyzed. Results: The simulated and measured results with respect to the flat panel shows that the high pressure results in the nonuniform thickness of the core, which is applied to the radome fabrication. As a result, the degradation of the electrical performance occurs because the unintended scattered field is generated as the electromagnetic wave transmits (or impinges upon) the radome. Furthermore, we observed that the electrical performance of both the flat panel and the radome got worse as the high pressure was applied. Conclusion: Through simulation and experiment, therefore, it is demonstrated that for the high pressure in the manufacturing process the nonuniform thickness of the core increases and results in the degradation of the electrical performance of the radome.

  • WLAN is the best choice in the place where complex network is hard to set up. Intelligent terminals are more and more assembled in some areas now. However, according to IEEE 802.11n/802.11ac, the access-point (AP) can only serve one user at a single frequency channel. The spectrum efficiency urgently needs to be improved. In theory, AP with multi-antenna can serve multiple users if these users do not interfere with each other. In this paper, we propose a user clustering scheme that could achieve multi-user selection through the mutual cooperation among users. We focus on two points, one is to achieve multi-user communication with multiple antennas technique at a single frequency channel, and the other one is to use a way of distributed users' collaboration to determine the multi-user selection for user clustering. Firstly, we use the CSMA/CA protocol to select the first user, and then we set this user as a source node using users' cooperation to search other proper users. With the help of the users' broadcast cooperation, we can search and select other appropriate user (while the number of access users is limited by the number of antennas in AP) to access AP with the first user simultaneously. In the network node searching, we propose a maximum degree energy routing searching algorithm, which uses the shortest time and traverses as many users as possible. We carried out the necessary analysis and simulation to prove the feasibility of the scheme. We hope this work may provide a new idea for the solution of the multiple access problem.
