Autologous breast reconstruction after mastectomy in breast cancer patient is now increasing. The deep inferior epigastric artery (DIEA) free flap is well known as an ideal donor site for the microsurgical breast reconstruction. The branching pattern of the DIEA was well described in the literature. In that study, DIEA has three branching patterns near the arcuate line. We describe a case in which branching variation of the DIEA before entering the posterior surface of the rectus abdominis muscle. In three cases, DIEA originated from the external iliac artery ascended as a double trunk at 1cm, 2cm, and 4cm above the originating point, respectively. In one case, DIEA ascended as a single trunk along the linea alba toward to the umbilicus until it supply overlying subcutaneous tissue. Preoperative 3D computed tomographic angiography to identify the anomaly is recommended and meticulous dissection to the originating point of DIEA is needed.

췌장에 생기는 종양 중에 adenosquamous carcinoma는 드물지만, 예후가 좋지 않으며 더 흔한 adenocarcinoma보다 다른 곳으로 전이할 확률이 높다. 이 증례 보고는 pancreas에 생긴 adenosquamous cell carcinoma와 liver로 전이한 병변이 서로 다른 영상소견을 보이는 드문 예로, 기존의 문헌들을 참고해 pancreas에 생기는 드문 질병인 adenosquamous cell carcinoma에 대한 이해를 돕기 위함이다.

There are many kinds of high temperature superconducting (HTS) application using Bi-2223 tape which is the most commercialized HTS material. Also, resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) have been developed using many kinds of superconducting material such as YBCO thin film, Bi-2212 bulk and so on. However, SFCL using Bi-2223 tape has never been developed. This paper deals with the feasibility study on SFCL using Bi-2223 wire. The over-current behaviors of Bi-2223 short-length sample were measured. To make the resistive SFCL, two small-scale bifilar winding modules using 7m Bi-2223 wire were fabricated; i.e. solenoid type bifilar coil and pancake type one. The short-circuit tests of the coils were successfully performed up to 16 V$_{rms}$ From these tests, the current limiting capabilities of Bi-2223 bifilar coils were confirmed and current limiting performances between two winding types were compared. In addition, the feasibility of resistive SFCL using another HTS wire, i.e. YBCO coated conductor, was also investigated.

Hydatid disease is caused by the larval stage of taenia $Echinococcus$, which endemic in the Mediterranean region. Recently, the prevalence of the disease has increased worldwide due to an increase in the frequency of travel and immigration. As the infested larvae migrate through the bloodstream, the final destination is most commonly the liver or lungs; direct pleural invasion is very rare. A 50-year-old diabetic Korean man presented with an incidentally noted 2 cm right pleural nodule. On follow up imaging after three months, its size had increased. To confirm the diagnosis of the lesion, surgical excision was performed. Histopathological examination showed the diagnosis of a hydatid cyst. The patient had no history of overseas travel, but lives in an urban area where many foreign workers from endemic countries reside. This is the first reported case of primary pleural hydatid disease in a non-endemic country.

Fifty-eight strains showing different colony morphological characteristics on various media were isolated from marine coral (Plexauridae sp.) and ambient seawater near Mun-Sum, Cheju-Island in 1998. Bacterial diversity was studies by phylogenetic analysis of the partial 16S rRNA gene sequences. All isolates representing the bacterial domain included affiliates of the high G+C (59%) and los G+C (3%) subdivision of Gram positive bacteria, and the alpha (33%) and gamma (5%) subdivision of the Proteobacteria. The 16S rDNA sequence similarity of the isolates was in the 88.3 to 100% range (average, 95.6%) to reported sequence data. In the comparison of the isolates from marine coarl and ambient seawater, more diverse groups belonging to ${\alpha}$-Proteobacteria were preferentially obtained from seawater.

There are various types of malignancy in eyelid, such as squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and sarcoma. These malignant tumors have potential of metastasis by regional lymph node drainage. The lymph node around parotid gland has been known as a common site of regional lymph node metastasis. The rarity of malignant tumors in the periorbital area makes it difficult to determine the optimal extent of treatment. We report a case of parotid metastasis after eyelid cancer operation in a 60-year-old man.

신생아의 태반을 통한 사람면역결핍바이러스 감염은 아프리카에서 흔하지만, 대한민국에서는 아직 보고된 적이 없다. 대한민국에서 사람면역결핍바이러스 감염자의 수는 증가하는 추세이며, 특히 생식연령에서의 사람면역결핍바이러스 감염자의 수가 증가하고 있다. 이는 사람면역결핍바이러스 수직 감염의 위험성을 높인다. 저자들은 아직 국내에 보고되지 않은 자궁 내 전파를 통한 신생아의 사람면역결핍바이러스 감염을 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. 자궁 내 전파를 통한 사람면역결핍바이러스 감염의 예후는 좋지 않으나 본 증례의 남아는 생후 9개월 경까지 정상 성장과 발달을 보였으며 특별한 의학적 문제가 없었다.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is an uncommon spindle cell neoplasm that is usually presented as a pleural origin localized tumor. There are few cases, found in thyroid. Twenty six cases found in thyroid have been reported since 1993, and two of these were malignant. We report another malignant case in this study; a 55 years old man visited out-patient clinic due to palpable mass of anterior neck, and pathologically diagnosed as malignant SFT of thyroid after surgical resection. In this study, we focus on the clinical features of this uncommon disease along with other literature reviews.

Malignant lesion of the trachea predominantly results from direct spread of adjacent tumors, whereas primary tracheal malignancies are rarely observed. Tracheal tumors are usually diagnosed late on account of delayed specific symptoms: dyspnea, stridor, coughing and hemoptysis. Primary tracheal tumors, although very rare, may extend into the thyroid gland and present as a thyroid mass. Surgery, followed by adjuvant radiotherapy, is the treatment of choice. A case of primary tracheal cancer with thyroid invasion is reported, and a review of the literature is presented.

Objectives: South Korea has the highest suicide rate among Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries; there is an increasing trend in suicide attempts among middle and high school students. Various factors contribute to the risk of suicide among adolescents, and the perception of suicide prevention has emerged as a significant factor. This study aimed to investigate the association between emotional and behavioral difficulties among middle and high school students and their perceptions of suicide prevention and to explore differences in suicide perception according to age. Methods: A survey was conducted among community middle and high school students, including 530 participants, between 2020 and 2021. Emotional and behavioral difficulties were assessed using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire-Korean version, and participants were asked to complete a questionnaire on the importance and possibility of suicide prevention. A correlation test and analysis of variance were used to examine the relationships between the variables, and suicide awareness was compared according to age. Results: The participants who displayed higher strength or lower difficulty were more likely to respond positively to suicide prevention measures. They also exhibited high strength and low difficulty levels, thus agreeing with the importance of suicide prevention. Regarding age-related perceptions of suicide, adults aged 20-29 years reported the lowest probability of suicide prevention. Conclusion: Suicide perceptions influence the incidence of suicide. Therefore, active societal engagement through suicide prevention campaigns and related education is essential to improve such perceptions. Continuous attention and support are required to address this issue.
