나노 인텐테이션을 이용한 산화알루미늄(AAO, Anodic Aluminum Oxide)구조물의 물성치에 대한 연구 (The study on properties of AAO(Anodic Aluminum Oxide) structures using nano indentation)

  • Porous anodic alumina has been used widely for corrosion protection of aluminum surfaces or as dielectric material in micro-electronics applications. It exhibits a homogeneous morphology of parallel pores which can easily be controlled between 10 and 400nm. It has been applied as a template for fabrication of the nanometerscale composite. In this study, mechanical properties of the AAO structures are measured by the nano indentation method. Nano indentation technique is one of the most effective method to measure the mechanical properties of nano-structures. Basically, hardness and elastic modulus can be obtained by the nano-indentation. Using the nano-indentation method, we investigated the mechanical properties of the AAO structure with different size of nano-holes. In results, we find the hole effect that changes the mechanical properties as size of nano hole.

3중 접합 공정에 의한 MEMS 공진기의 웨이퍼레벨 진공 패키징 (Wafer-level Vacuum Packaging of a MEMS Resonator using the Three-layer Bonding Technique)

  • The high vacuum hermetic sealing technique ensures excellent performance of MEMS resonators. For the high vacuum hermetic sealing, the customization of anodic bonding equipment was conducted for the glass/Si/glass triple-stack anodic bonding process. Figure 1 presents the schematic of the MEMS resonator with triple-stack high-vacuum anodic bonding. The anodic bonding process for vacuum sealing was performed with the chamber pressure lower than 5 × 10-6 mbar, the piston pressure of 5 kN, and the applied voltage was 1 kV. The process temperature during anodic bonding was 400 ℃. To maintain the vacuum condition of the glass cavity, a getter material, such as a titanium thin film, was deposited. The getter materials was active at the 400 ℃ during the anodic bonding process. To read out the electrical signals from the Si resonator, a vertical feed-through was applied by using through glass via (TGV) which is formed by sandblasting technique of cap glass wafer. The aluminum electrodes was conformally deposited on the via-hole structure of cap glass. The TGV process provides reliable electrical interconnection between Si resonator and aluminum electrodes on the cap glass without leakage or electrical disconnection through the TGV. The fabricated MEMS resonator with proposed vacuum packaging using three-layer anodic bonding process has resonance frequency and quality factor of about 16 kHz and more than 40,000, respectively.

양극산화에 의한 나노다공성 TiO2 박막 생성 (Formation of Nanoporous TiO2 Thin Films on Si by Anodic Oxidation)

  • Nanoporous titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) is very attractive material for various applications due to the high surface to volume ratio. In this study, we have fabricated nanoporous $TiO_2$ thin films on Si by anodic oxidation. 500-nm-thick titanium (Ti) films were deposited on Si by using electron beam evaporation. Nanoporous structures in the Ti films were obtained by anodic oxidization using ethylene glycol electrolytes containing 0.3 wt% $NH_4F$ and 2 vol% $H_2O$ under an applied bias of 5 V. The diameter of nanopores in the Ti films linearly increased with anodization time and the whole Ti layer could become nanoporous after anodizing for 3 hours, resulting in vertically aligned nanotubes with the length of 200~300 nm and the diameter of 50~80 nm. Upon annealing at $600^{\circ}C$ in air, the anodized Ti films were fully crystallized to $TiO_2$ of rutile and anatase phases. We believe that our method to fabricate nanoporous $TiO_2$ films on Si is promising for applications to thin-film gas sensors and thin-film photovoltaics.

다공성 알루미나 박막을 이용한 금속 나노우물과 나노그물 구조의 박막 제작 (Fabrication of Nanowellstructured and Nanonetstructured Metal Films using Anodic Porous Alumina Film)

  • 나노 다공성 알루미나 박막을 제작하고 이를 주형으로 사용해서 진공증착에 의해 규칙적으로 배열된 나노우물구조와 나노그물구조의 금속 박막들(알루미늄, 주석, 코발트)을 제작하였다. 원하는 금속물질을 증발시키기 위하여 저항가열 방법을 사용하였으며, 증착은 torr의 기저진공 속에서 수행되었다. 실험결과에 의하면, 나노우물과 나노그물 구조의 박막 중 어떤 구조가 합성되느냐 하는 것은 증착되는 물질의 양에 의해서 큰 영향을 받는다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 세포의 크기가 100 nm이고 세공 직경이 60 nm인 다공성 알루미나 박막을 사용했을 때는 대략 우물구조를 합성하는데 필요한 질량의 절반이하 정도가 증착되게 되면 그물 구조가 합성되는 경향을 보여주었다.

  • Electrolytic polishing is the anodic dissolution process in the transpassive state. It removes non-metallic inclusions and improves mechanical and corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Electrolytic polishing is normally used to remove a very thin layer of material from the surface of a metal object. An electrolyte of phosphoric, sulfuric and distilled water has been used in this study. In the low current density region, there can be found plateau region and material removal process and leveling process occur successively. In this study, an electrochemical polishing process using pulse current is adopted as a new electrochemical polishing process. In electrochemical machining processes, it has been found that pulse electrochemical processes provide an attractive alternative to the electrochemical processes using continuous current. Hence, this study will discuss the electrochemical polishing processes in low current density region and pulse electrochemical polishing.

  • The structural steels of power plant show the decrease of mechanical properties due to degradation such as temper embrittlement, creep damage and softening during long-term operation at high temper ature. The typical causes of material degradation damage are the creation and coarsening of carbides(M23C6, M6C) and the segregation of impurities(P, Sb and Sn) to grain boundary. It is also well known that material degradation induces the cleavage fracture and increases the ductile-brittle transition temperature of steels. So, it is very important to evaluate degradation damage to secure the reliable and efficient service condition and to prevent brittle failure in service. However, it would not be appropriate to sample a large test piece from in-service components. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a couple of new approaches to the non-destructive estimation technique which may be applicable to assessing the material degradation of the components with not to influence their essential strength. The purpose of this study is to propose and establish a new electrochemical technique for non-destructive evaluation of material degradation damage for Cr-Mo steels which is widely used in the high temperature structural components. And the electrochemical anodic polarization test results are compared with those of semi-nondestructive SP test.

A Novel Electrochemical Method for Sensitive Detection of Melamine in Infant Formula and Milk using Ascorbic Acid as Recognition Element

  • A novel and convenient electrochemical method has been developed for sensitive determination of melamine (MEL) using ascorbic acid (AA) as the recognition element. The working electrode employed in this method was modified with the nanocomposite of hydroxyapatite/carbon nanotubes to enhance the current signal of recognition element. The interaction between MEL and AA was investigated by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry, and the experimental results indicated that hydrogen bonding was formed between MEL and AA. Because of the existing hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction, the anodic peak current of AA was decreased obviously while the non-electroactive MEL added in. It illustrated that the MEL acted as an inhibitor to the oxidation of AA and the decreasing signals can be used to detect MEL. Under the optimal conditions, the decrease in anodic peak current of AA was proportional to the MEL concentrations ranging from 10 to 350 nM, with a detection limit of 1.5 nM. Finally this newly-proposed method was successfully employed to detect MEL in infant formula and milk, and good recovery was achieved.

Anodic deposition된 $MnO_2$ 막의 열분석 특성 (Thermal analysis of anodically deposited manganese oxide film)

  • Using $DV-X{\alpha}$ method, it is calculated that nickel reduces the energy band gap of manganese oxide in 3 additives of titanium, nickel and tin. Therefore, it is estimated that the electrical conductivity of manganese-nickel oxide has the lowest value in 3 kinds of manganese oxide. The manganese oxide and manganese-nickel oxide which were produced by anodic deposition under $30mA/cm^2$ at room temperature in manganese sulfate and manganese-nickel sulfate solution were thermal-analyzed by DTA and TGA. The weight change of manganese oxide continuously decreased below $508^{\circ}C$ and kept constant at $518{\sim}600^{\circ}C$. However, the manganeses-nickel oxide transformed at the temperature range of $510{\sim}537^{\circ}C$. It is observed that the nickel addition to manganese oxide increases transformation temperature and its range.

알루미늄 합금 및 스테인리스강의 해수 농도 변화에 따른 전기화학적 부식 손상 특성 (Electrochemical Corrosion Damage Characteristics of Alumium Alloy and Stainless Steel with Sea Water Concentration)

  • 5000 series aluminium alloys and austenitic stainless steels have excellent corrosion resistance and sufficient strength, which are widely used as materials for marine equipment and their parts in the marine environment. The corrosion characteristics of materials are important factors for selecting the appropriate material due to fluid component changes in the estuarine and coastal areas where seawater and fresh water are mixed. Therefore, for 5083 Al alloy, STS304 and STS316L widely used in the marine environment, anodic polarization experiments were performed to compare the corrosion damage characteristics of each material by three kinds of solutions of 100 % tap water, 50 % tap water+50 % natural seawater and 100 % natural seawater. As a result of the anodic polarization experiments, aluminum alloy (5083) caused locally corrosion on the surface in the tap water, and corrosion damage occurred all over the surface when the seawater was included. Stainless steels (STS304 and STS316L) presented almost no corrosion damage in tap water, but they grew pitting corrosion damage with increasing seawater concentration. STS316L showed better corrosion resistance than STS304.
