산림관리에 따른 기초지자체 규모의 탄소중립 가능성 평가 - 파주시와 고성군을 대상으로 - (Carbon neutrality potentials in local governments under different forest management - The Study Case of Paju and Goseong -)

  • We evaluated the effect of CO2 offsetting by estimating changes in carbon uptake under various forest management scenarios and proposed forest management strategies to achieve carbon neutrality. Paju and Goseong, which have relatively large forest areas but different industrial characteristics, were selected for the study sites. The current state of forest distribution was analyzed using forest type maps and aerial photographs, and the amount of carbon uptake was calculated using the equation presented by the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and the national emission/absorption coefficients from the Korea National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report. As of 2015, the forest carbon absorption in Paju and Goseong was 49,931 t/yr and 94,225 t/yr, respectively, and the annual carbon absorption per unit area was 2.28 t/ha/yr and 2.16 t/ha/yr. Under the forest management scenarios, the annual maximum carbon absorption per unit area is estimated to increase to 5.68 t/ha/yr in Paju and 4.22 t/ha/yr in Goseong, and this absorption would increase further if urban forests were additionally created. Even if the current forests of Paju and Goseong are maintained as they are, emissions from electricity use can be sufficiently offset. However, by applying appropriate forest management strategies, emissions from sectors other than electricity use could be offset. This study can be applied to the establishment of carbon absorption strategies in the forest sector to achieve carbon neutrality.

산림의 CO2 흡수량 평가를 위한 통계 및 공간자료의 활용성 검토 - 안산시를 대상으로 - (A Study on the Availability of Spatial and Statistical Data for Assessing CO2 Absorption Rate in Forests - A Case Study on Ansan-si -)

  • 본 연구는 안산시 산림을 대상으로 연간 $CO_2$ 흡수량 평가를 위한 통계 및 공간자료의 활용성을 검토하였다. 통계자료, 임상도(1:5,000), 산림수종 표준 탄소흡수량 자료들을 활용해 산림의 연간 $CO_2$ 흡수량을 산정하였다. 또한 세분류토지피복도를 이용한 연간 $CO_2$ 흡수량 분석 및 활용성을 검증하였다. 통계자료를 이용한 경우 2010년을 기준으로 연간 $CO_2$ 흡수량의 차이가 컸다. 이는 2010년부터 산림기본통계의 작성 방법이 고도화됨에 따라 임목축적이 급격히 증가한 결과이다. 향후 통계자료를 활용할 경우 최근의 산림기본통계를 이용한 보정이 필요하다. 임상도(1:5,000)와 산림기본통계(2015, 2010)의 시기 차이를 이용한 방법은 수종들의 생장량에 따른 $CO_2$ 흡수량이 반영되지 않았다. 산림수종 표준 탄소흡수량 자료와 임상도(1:5,000)를 이용한 결과 연간 42,369 ton을 흡수하였다. 세분류토지피복도와 산림수종 표준탄소흡수량 자료를 이용한 결과는 40,696 ton이었다. 임상도(1:5,000)를 이용하여 세분류토지피복도를 검증한 결과 p<0.01 수준에서 유의했고, 흡수량 차이는 1,673 ton이었다. 본 연구는 다양한 산림활동의 온실가스 감축 효과 평가에 있어 객관적 기준을 적용하는 일환으로서 의의를 지닌다. 나아가 탄소흡수원과 관련된 토지이용 및 관리 등의 의사결정 지원을 위한 기초자료로 활용이 가능할 것이다.

  • If the atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases double, the annual temperature increase in mean surface temperature relative to 1990 will be about 2.0 to $2.5^{\circ}C$ and the annual precipitation increase about $15{\%}$ by 2100 in Korea. When the temperature rises $2^{\circ}C$, the annual temperature will be $13^{\circ}C,\;15^{\circ}C,\;and\;16^{\circ}C$ in Western Central, Yeongnam Basin, and Southern Coastal respectively. Consequently the crop period could be prolonged $10{\~}29$ days. In the case of gradual global warming, annual crops could be adapted to the changed environment by breeding, and the perennial crops should be shifted to ether area. If global warming happens suddenly over the threshold of atmospheric greenhouse gases concentration, then we shall have disturbance of ecosystem. When $2^{\circ}C$ higher than present, the optimum flowering date of rice plant delayed about 10 days, so it may not possible to adopt the fate with present japonica rices, therefore, the recommended characteristics of rice varieties are longer basic vegetative period, more late maturing and higher ripening temperature. Barley and wheat crops could be shifted to northern coastal areas and apple production areas should be shifted to those areas under $13.5^{\circ}C$ in annual mean temperature at global warming. Ideotypes of crops under climate changes should have such ecological characteristics that are indispensable to accomplish the sustainable agriculture under increased $CO_{2}$ and temperature condition as the diversification of genetic resources from yield-oriented to biomass-oriented characteristics with the higher potentials of $CO_{2}$ absorption and Primary production. In addition, a heat-tolerance, a pest resistance, an environmental adaptability and a production stability should be also incorporated collectively into our integrated agroecosystem.

  • At the close of the year 1990, tombs in south Korea will cover the area of 940 km2, which is 0.9% of the entire landspace. Annual increase of 200,000 tombs is encroaching on landspace by 10 $km^2$. It4 is estimated that the decrease in the forest area caused by tombs results a decrease both in the production of $0_2$ by 912,000 tons and in the absorption of $CO_2$ by 1,2454,800tons per year. As a result, there will be an increase in the amount of $CO_2$, which is one of the factors that cause the greenhouse effect.

오염농도의 공간적 분포를 고려한 도시림의 대기정화기능 계량화 (A Quantitative Analysis of Air Purification Effectiveness on Urban Forest Considering the Spatial Distribution of Pollutant Concentration)

  • 본 연구는 도시의 대기환경과 관련하여 도시림의 정화 기능을 평가해보고 개선방안에 대해 고찰해 보는 것이 목적이다. 대기오염은 도시화가 특히 심화되어 있는 지역일수록 심각하기 때문에 우리나라의 대도시 중 하나인 대구광역시를 대상으로 도시림의 대기정화기능을 추정하였다. 오염물질의 흡수량을 산정함에 있어 기존에는 고려되지 못했던 오염농도의 공간적 차이를 적용하였으며, 크리깅을 통해 대기확산모델링 자료의 해상도를 향상시켰다. 도시림의 유형 및 분포를 파악해 본 결과, 대상지역 도시림 내의 식생군락은 총 26개 유형이었으며, 소나무군락, 소나무-신갈군락, 소나무-상수리군락 등 다양한 수종이 분포하고 있었다. 도시림의 대기정화기능을 알아보고자 $CO_2$의 흡수량을 파악해 본 결과, 연간 흡수량은 총 108,155t/yr인 것으로 분석되었다. 도시림의 대기오염물질 흡수량의 경우 $SO_2$ 흡수량은 총 183.5t/yr이었으며, $NO_2$ 흡수량은 총 410.2t/yr인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 오염농도에 대한 공간적 분포를 고려하지 않아 확인이 불가능했던 농도에 따른 흡수량의 차이를 확인해 볼 수 있었다.

LCC를 이용한 공조 방식별 비교 연구 (Comparison Study of Air-conditioning Systems using LCC Analysis)

  • The purpose of this study is to make an economic analysis(Life cycle cost) of selecting optimal air conditioning system for a research building which is 8 stories with a total floor area of $32,010m^2$. Energy consumptions of three proposed air-conditioning systems(Alt-1,2,3) that reflect the government green-growth policy are calculated and compared. The results show that life cycle cost of Alt-3(Ventilation DX AHU+EHP) is less than Alt-1(EHP+ventilation DX AHU) by 5.1%, and Alt-2(Absorption chiller/heater+EHP) by 34.3%. Annual energy consumption of Alt-3 is less than Alt-1 by 9.9%, and Alt-2 by 37.4%. Annual $CO_2$ emission of Alt-3 is less than Alt-1 by 9.9%, and Alt-2 by 0.2%.

기후변화와 농업생산의 전망과 대책 (Climate Change and Coping with Vulnerability of Agricultural Productivity)

  • Over the 20th century global temperature increase has been 0.6$^{\circ}C$. The globally averaged surface temperature is projected to increase by 1.4 to 5.8$^{\circ}C$ over the period 1990 to 2100. Nearly all land areas will have higher maximum temperature and minimum temperature, and fewer cold days and frost days. More intense precipitation events will take plate over many areas. Over most mid-latitude continental interiors will have increased summer continental drying and associated risk of drought. By 2100, if the annual surface temperature increase is 3.5$^{\circ}C$, we will have 15.9$^{\circ}C$ from 12.4$^{\circ}C$ at present. Also the annual precipitation will range 1,118-2,447 mm from 972-1,841 mm at present in Korea. Consequently the average crop periods for summer crops will be 250 days that prolonged 32 days than at present. In the case of gradual increase of global warming, an annual crop can be adapted to the changing climate through the selection of filial generations in breeding process. The perennial crops such as an apple should be shifted the chief producing place to northern or high latitude areas where below 13.5$^{\circ}C$ of the annual surface temperature. If global warming happens suddenly over the threshold atmospheric greenhouse gases, then all ecosystems will have tremendous disturbance. Agricultural land-use plan, which state that farmers decide what to plant, based on their climate-based advantages. Therefore, farmers will mitigate possible negative imparts associated with the climate change. The farmers will have application to use agricultural meteorological information system, and agricultural long-range weather forecast system for their agroecosystems management. The ideal types of crops under $CO_2$ increase and climate change conditions are considered that ecological characteristics need indispensable to accomplish the sustainable agriculture as the diversification of genetic resources from yield-oriented to biomass-oriented characteristics with higher potential of $CO_2$ absorption and primary production. In addition, a heat-and-cold tolerance, a pest resistance, an environmental adaptability, and production stability should be also incorporated collectively into integrated agroecosystem.

부산지역 강우의 화학적 특성 II. 중금속의 공급원과 습성침적 플럭스

  • The concentrations and wet deposition flux into the sea of heavy metals of precipitation in Pusan area were measured and estimated. The samples were collected by polyethylene bottle(30ι) from January to November in 1996, and heavy metals were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometer. The concentration order of heavy metals was Al >Fe >Zn >Pb >Mn >Cu >Ni >Cd >Co, and they were high at inland sites and low at coastal sites. The enrichment factors for some metals(Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd), based on crustal Al, were significantly greater than unity, and the order was Cd > Pb > Zn > Cu. This evidence suggests Cd and Pb are derived predominantly from non-crustal sources. Al, Fe and Mn contents showed good correlation with each other. Therefore this enrichment factor indicates similar geochemical behavior of these elements. The annual wet depositional flux(mg/ $m^2$ /yr) from Pl site was as follows: Al(121.1). Fe,(177.2), Zn(12.9), Mn(6.19), Pb(14.4), Cu(0.64), Ni(1.03), Cd(1.02) and Co(1.01).

The Variation of Radiocarbon-14 Content in the Atmosphere

  • The Carbon-14 content in surface air at Seoul, Korea, was measured from February 1970 to August 1971 and a Larix Leptolepis, Gordon tree (Ip-Gal Namu) grown at Kwang-Nung, Kyunggi-Do, Korea, having 37 growth rings, was assayde for $^{14}C$. From the results of the surface air study, it was calculated that during the above period the inventory of excess $^{14}C$ in the atmosphere decreased with a half-time of 4.6 years. The overall yearly decrease was also checked. The tree-ring study showed that the tree's atmosphere was affected by $^{14}C$ from nuclear tests after 1956. In one study, atmospheric $CO^2$ samples were collected bi-monthly by the absorption of $CO^2$ in alkaline hydroxide solution. In the other, 5 year annual growth rings were assayed for radiocarbon. For the radioactivity measurement, carbon atoms in samples were converted to carbon atoms of benzene. The resulting benzene was taken as primary solvent for liquid scintillation counting.

경남 진주지역 소나무, 굴참나무 및 굴피나무림의 토양호흡에 관한 연구 (Soil Respiration in Pinus densiflora, Quercus variabilis and Platycarya strobilacea Stands in Jinju, Gyeongnam Province)

  • Soil respiration rate was measured from March to November 2003 using the KOH absorption method in Pinus densiflora, Quercus variabilis, Platycarya strobilacea stands in Jinju, Gyeongnam Province. Throughout the study period, average soil temperature and moisture content were 16.2$^{\circ}C$, 25.1% for P. densiflora stand, 17.1$^{\circ}C$, 24.3% for Q. variabilis stand, and 17.6$^{\circ}C$, 25.1% for P. strobilacea stand, respectively. The seasonal fluctuations of soil respiration rate increasing in summer and decreasing in winter, which there were strong positive correlations of soil respiration and soil temperature in all study stands. However, there were no significant correlations between soil moisture and soil respiration. Soil respiration rates throughout the study period ranged from 0.12 to 0.77 for P. densiflora stand, 0.23 to 1.37 for Q. valiabilis stand, and 0.30 to 1.47 g $CO_2\cdotm^{-2}\cdothr^{ -1}$ for P. strobilacea stand, respectively. Mean soil respiration rates in P. densiflora, Q. variabilis, P. strobilacea stands were 0.43, 0.80, and 0.90 g $CO_2\cdotm^{-2}\cdothr^{ -1}$, respectively. The Q$_{10}$ values were 2.38 for P. densiflora stand, 2.11 for Q. variabilis stand, and 2.07 for P. strobilacea stand. Annual total soil respiration was 24 for P. densiflora stand, 49.3 for Q. variabilis stand, and 55.3 t $CO_2\cdotha^{-1}\cdotyr^{ -1}$ for P. strobilacea stand, respectively.y.
