  • one of the most difficult thing for beginner animators is timing. In animations, timing can help to make character animatedly and have function that delivers the character's feeling. However, it is impossible to formulate this timing, since timing for certain time and situation can only express the character's environment, so it is important to make you own timing. the timing has special relationship with animation sounds. This sound decides the animation's mood. Even only accurate cord and music can make dramatic mood for animations. One of the technique is mickey mousing which synchronizes movement and music together. This these will explain about the animation sound using mickey mousing technique to get for animation timing and character movement followed by sound rhythm and tempos with examples 'Tom and Jerry' and 'Nightmare of christmas'.

  • The role of sound in producing 3D animation clip is one of the important factor to maximize the immersive effects of the scene. Especially interaction between video and sound makes the scene expressions more apparent, which is diversely applied in video production. One of these interaction techniques, the out-focussing technique is frequently used in both real video and 3D animation field. But in 3D animation, out-focussing is not easily implemented as in music videos or explosion scenes in real video shots. This paper analyzes the sound data to synchronize the depth of field with it. The novel out-focussing technique is proposed, where the object's field of depth is controlled by beat rhythm in the sound data.

  • In these days, the term 'snack culture' has been popularized as on of the tendency of new content consumption, and various related contents are introduced. This study is an analytical study related to the snack animation content based on the webtoon which can be considered as a representative snack culture content. The Purpose of this study is to investigate the frequency of use of transition techniques, which are importance for viewer to help to understand story by making space and time change in the moving image. To do this, I analyzed the each type of transition technique about the whole contents of NAVER's play webtoon, which is representative snack animation platform. Then I derived and contemplated the result of the analysis with a viewpoint of composition of shot. Through this process, I think this study could provide another basic data about snack animation contents which are not been studied enough yet.

  • This article studies on the character design of North Korea's puppet animation around 1985. At that time North Korea's puppet animation are improved glaringly in quantitative side and qualitative side of modeling. There has been constant support nationalistically to puppet animation from the initial period of animation production in North Korea unlike South Korea, and North Korea communicated lively with European socialist countries where tradition of puppet animation is strong. We can discover structural and figurative change of distinct feature in character design in 1985. Structurally, experimental forms and correct movement of joint were possible, because they used ball and socket armature. Expressively, they established own esthetics of character design in puppet animation applying technique of korean traditional painting to character design: laconism, perspicuity, delicacy.

  • Even though the animation industry has been growth since 2011, there is still imitation by public stereotype which insists that animation is only able to cover the young age group and is not the proper genre of art to convey a social or a philosophical agenda. However, describes the philosophical agenda of 'social class' and 'life and death' in the limited space by expressing characteristics and background of fish through its own way. Thus, it shows how animation goes beyond aforementioned limits. Straying from traditional happy-ending, it criticizes present social problems by telling despite fishes' effort they cannot escape from structural contradictions. The drawing technique in musical expresses the character's ideology and attitude to make people think about how we will behave in the face of life and death. Therefore the purpose of this paper is analyzing director Lee Dae-hee's animation and present the genre expandability of animation.

  • The present study argues that documentary-animation films, which are based on actual human voices, on the level of representation, constitute a new expansion for the medium of animation films, which serve as testimonies to the real world. Animation films are produced using very diverse techniques so that they are complex to the degree of being indefinable, and documentary films, though based on objective representation, increase in complexity in that there exist various types of artificial interventions such as direction and digital image processing. Having emerged as a hybrid genre of the two media, documentary-animation films draw into themselves actual events and elements so that they conceptually share reality-based narratives and are visually characterized by the trappings of animation films. Generally classified as 'animated documentaries', this genre triggered discussions following the release of , a work that is mistaken as having used rotoscoping transforming live action in terms of the technique. When analyzed in detail, however, this work is presented as an ambiguous medium where the characteristics of animation films, which are virtual simulacra without reality, and of documentaries, which are based on the objective indexicality of the referents, coexist because of its mixed use of typical animation techniques, 3D programs, and live-action images. Discussed in the present study, , , and share the characteristics of the medium of documentaries in that the narratives develop as testimonies of historical figures but, at the same time, are connected to animation films because of their production techniques and direction characteristics. Consequently, this medium must be discussed as a new expansion rather than being included in the existing classification system, and such a presupposition is an indispensable process for directly facing the reality of the works and for developing discussions. Through works that directly use the interviewees' voices yet do not transcend the characteristics of animation films, the present study seeks to define documentary-animation films and to discuss the possibility of the medium, which has expanded as a testimony to the real world.

  • In this paper, we present an animation toolkit based on motion mapping technique in a graphics user interface that can represent data structures necessary for generating character motions. The motion mapping means that an animation sequence generated once can be mapped to another object directly according a data structure in the graphics user interface. Users can generate animation sequences interactively using a mouse. These are obtained automatically by modifying motion data structures interactively. Compared with other conventional tools, the toolkit has different features that two hierarchical structures necessary for representing modeling and animation data are managed independently each other, and that animations generated can be applied to any other characters by connecting the two hierarchical structures in the user interface.

  • This paper introduces that SSFE(Skeleton System for Facial Expression) to deform facial expressions by rigging of skeletons does same functions with 14 facial muscles based on anatomy. A three dimensional animation tool (MAYA 8.5) is utilized for making the SSFE that presents deformation of mesh models implementing facial expressions around eyes, nose and mouse. The SSFE has a good reusability within diverse human mesh models. The reusability of SSFE can be understood as OSMU(One Source Multi Use) of three dimensional animation production method. It can be a good alternative technique for reducing production budget of animations. It can also be used for three dimensional animation industries such as virtual reality and game.
