ADS/OTAC 혼합 계면활성제 수용액에서 형성된 마이셀과 층막구형체의 크기 및 구조에 대한 작은 각 중성자 산란 연구 (A Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Study for Sizes and Structures of Micelles and Vesicles Formed in Aqueous Solutions of Mixed Surfactants ADS/OTAC)

  • 본 연구는 이온성 계면활성제 수용액에 대하여 음이온성 ammonium dodecyl sulfate (ADS)와 양이온성 octadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (OTAC)의 단일계 그리고 이들의 혼합 계면활성제 수용액에서 형성되는 혼합 마이셀과 층막구형체(vesicle)의 크기 및 구조에 대하여 작은 각 중성자 산란법을 통하여 해석하였다. 10 mM ADS와 9mM OTAC 수용액에서 형성된 단일 계면활성제 마이셀의 크기는 각각 40과 $61{\AA}$이었고, 이들의 구조는 모두 공모양이었다. 농도에 따른 구조 변화는 SANS 스펙트라로는 관찰되지 않았지만, 300 mM까지 농도가 증가할수록 마이셀 사이의 거리가 줄어들었으며 250 mM 이상에서는 거리가 일정하였다. 그러므로 이보다 큰 농도에서 구조전이가 일어날 것으로 기대된다. ADS/OTAC 혼합계의 상도해 상으로 혼합 마이셀과 층막구형체가 공존하는 영역에서 지수 법칙의 지수값이 1.6을 나타내므로 이를 확인하였다. 또한 자발적으로 형성된 층막구형체 영역은 이중막 구조 분석을 통하여 고찰하였으며, 이중막을 이루는 층막구형체의 층 간 두께는 전체 농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 이는 농도가 증가됨에 따라 같은 전하를 띠고 있는 층막구형체 사이에 반발력이 강하게 작용하여 한층막구형체의 층간 거리는 줄어들고, 이로 인해 농도가 증가할수록 층막구형체의 크기는 감소하는 것으로 해석되었다. ACS가 90 몰%인 혼합용액에서 9 mM은 상도해 상으로 혼합 마이셀과 층막구형체의 경계 영역으로 구분이 되지 않았지만, SANS 분석 결과 층막구형체 영역에 해당하여 보다 정확한 상도해를 완성할 수 있었다.

Efficiency Index Diagram for Wake Region Evaluation of Artificial Reefs Facilitated for Marine Forest Creation

  • Recently, artificial reefs (ARs) have been frequently used primarily owing to the development in AR materials and projects for relatively complicated, large ARs. Among several engineering issues of ARs, wake region of an AR has been characterized because these regions have a high probability of recruiting seaweed spores, providing an energy saving zone, and facilitating deposition of sediments, nutrients, and bio-deposits. To characterize an efficiency index of an AR wake region and its dependency on the prevailing water flow directions, this study proposes a so-called efficiency index diagram. This characterization is done by normalizing the wake volumes with respect to the real AR volume and illustrating how efficiency indices vary with respect to the inlet flow directions. As a result, according to the diagram characteristics such as an averaged efficiency index, fundamental symmetric angle, secure angles, and principal directions, we can easily figure out how a target AR should be aligned along the main water flows to maximize the wake region around the AR. In addition, six ARs are considered and their efficiency index diagrams are illustrated to pinpoint the physical characteristics.

  • The load/unload behavior of the hard disk drive slider is studied in terms of the air bearing static characteristics. The numerical continuation methods are applied to calculate suspension force - equilibrium position curve. The critical preloads of the femto size slider are analyzed. The hi-stability conditions are depicted on the skew angle - preload diagram. The perturbation method is used to check the stability of the solution branches.

  • Flow patterns in the presence of two identical nearby circular cylinders at =100 were numerically studied. We considered all possible arrangements of the two circular cylinders in terms of the distance between the two cylinders and the inclination angle with respect to the direction of the main flow. Eight distinct flow patterns were identified based on vorticity contours and streamlines, which are Base-Bleed, Biased-Base-Bleed, Shear- Layer-Reattachment, Induced-Separation, Vortex-Impingement, Flip-Flopping, Modulated Periodic, and Synchronized-Vortex-Shedding. Collecting all the numerical results, we propose a general flow pattern diagram for flows past the two cylinders. The perfect geometrical symmetry implied in the flow configuration allows one to use this diagram to distinguish flow patterns in the presence of two identical circular cylinders arbitrarily positioned in physical space with respect to the main flow direction.

Analysis on How to Locate the Maximum Line Voltage to Hull in Steady State on the Vector Diagram Onboard Vessels

  • Power distribution onboard vessel is typically configured as ungrounded system due to the ability to continuously supply electric power even when an earth fault occurs. The impedance connections between 3 phase power lines and hull cause the line-to-hull voltages to become unstable and increased in case the impedances are unbalanced, bringing the situation susceptible to electric shock and deterioration of insulation material. Also the line-to-hull voltage can reach to a certain maximum value in the steady state depending on the distributed capacitances and grounding resistances between lines and hull. This study suggests how to find and calculate the maximum line-to-hull voltage in view of magnitude and phase angle based on the vector diagram.

  • Although cross rolling process has many advantages in forging a joint shaft, an automotive component of front axle unit, subsequent process is necessary to straighten its bending during forging process. In this paper the bending minimization of the joint shaft was studied to eliminate such an additional process. First of all, a characteristic diagram was used to find out factors affecting the bending of the shaft. Also design of experiments was utilized for estimating the influence of those factors. It was found that the phase angle, which is the difference in starting positions between upper and lower dies, was important to minimize the bending of joint shaft and die cooling is necessary to diminish the distribution of bending.

  • In this paper, we measured the impedence |Z| and phase angle $\theta$ using the Impedence Analyzer (Hp 4192A). When frequency is varied to produce resonance, the curves(admittance diagram) are obtained. The resonant frequency is obtained also. We analyzed the operating characteristics of quartz crystal coated with sensitive LB films. That is the size of circle in the admittance diagram is decreased as to coat sensitive LB films on the quartz crystal. The resonant frequency and resistance is changed with coating on the surface.

Comparing the Whole Body Impedance of the Young and the Elderly using BIMS

  • The bioelectrical impedance (BI) for the young and the elderly was measured using bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (BIS). First, while applying a current of $600{\mu}A$ to the foot and hand, BI was measured at 50 frequencies ranging from 5 to 1000 kHz. The BI for young subjects was considerably lower than that for old subjects since young subjects have more lean mass (hydration). The prediction marker was 0.74 for young subjects and 0.78 for old subjects. Second, a Cole-Cole diagram was obtained for young subjects and old subjects, indicating the different characteristic frequencies. At 50 kHz, the average phase angle was $7.8^{\circ}$ for young subjects whereas that was $6.1^{\circ}$ for old subjects. Third, BIVA was analyzed for young subjects and old subjects. The vector length was 210.89 [${\Omega}/m$] for young subjects and 326.12 [${\Omega}/m$] for old subjects. At 50 kHz, the resistance (R/H) and the reactance ($X_C/H$) divided by height were 208.94 [${\Omega}/m$] and 28.68 [${\Omega}/m$] for young subject, and 324.33 [${\Omega}/m$] and 34.09 [${\Omega}/m$] for old subjects.

CCTV 카메라용 광학계 설계 (Optical System Design for CCTV Camera)

  • 목적: 본 논문은 CCTV 카메라용 렌즈 설계를 triplet형으로 광학 설계를 하였다. 방법: 초점거리를 56 mm, 유효경을 20 mm 그리고 화각을 $5^{\circ}$로 한 망원 렌즈 형태이고, 설계하고자 하는 카메라의 CCD array detector의 크기를 2/3인치로 하였다. 결과: 광학계의 성능은 ray-fan과 spot diagram 그리고 회절 광학적인 MTF를 계산하여 평가하였고, 파장은 Fraunhofer C, d 및 F-line에 대해 achromat 되었으며 MTF 값도 tangential과 sagittal MTF 모두 50 line pairs/mm의 공간 주파수에 70% 정도가 나왔다. 결론: triplet형으로 비교적 저가 보급형 감시용 목적 CCTV 카메라를 설계하였고 충분히 실용적이라 생각된다.
