Mechanical properties of electroplated gold microstructures were determined from the micromachined beam structures. Cantilever and bridge beam structures of different length were fabricated by electroplating-surface micromachining technique, which is specially designed to realize an anchor structure close to an ideal fixed-boundary condition. Fabricated beams were electrostatically excited and their resonance frequencies were measured by optical system composed of laser displacement meter with dynamic signal analyzer. Young's modulus and mean residual stress were calculated from the measured frequencies of microbeams. In addtion, stress gradient was measured using deformation of released cantilever beam structure.

In piping design of nuclear power plant facilities, the load stress according to self-weight is important for design values in test run(shutdown and starting). But sometimes it needs more studies, such as seismic analysis of an earthquake of power plant area and fatigue life and stress of thermal expansion and anchor displacement in operating run. In this paper, seismic evaluations were performed to nuclear piping system of Shin-Kori NO. 3&4 being built in Pusan lately. Results of seismic analysis are evaluated on basis of KEPIC MN code. The structural integrity on RCB piping system was proved.

This paper presents a numerical study on structural behavior of hammer head pier cap beams, extended on verges and reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plates. A 3-D finite element (FE) model along with a simplified analytical model are presented. Concrete damage plasticity (CDP) was adapted in the FE model and an analytical approach predicting the CFRP anchor strength was adapted in both FE and analytical model. Total five quarter-scaled pier cap beams with various CFRP reinforcing schemes were experimentally tested and analyzed with numerical approaches. Comparison between experimental results, FE results, analytical results and current ACI guideline predictions was presented. The FE results showed good agreement with experimental results in terms of failure mode, ultimate capacity, load-displacement response and strain distribution. In addition, the proposed strut-and-tie based analytical model provides the most accurate prediction of ultimate strength of extended cap beams among the three numerical approaches.

In this paper, Nonlinear Static Pushover analysis method(NSP) is proposed which apply to RC buildings reinforced by external retrofit for seismic performance. Based on previous analysis and research, NSP is more developed by connection nonlinearity according to shear resistance mechanism such as dowel and adhesive resistance as major shear resistance elements. According to the proposed method, structural analysis for example buildings was carried out to evaluate seismic performance of buildings. And, it was confirmed that depending on shear strain and characteristics of joint resistant of external retrofitting are different from internal retrofitting. Furthermore, the strength reduction coefficient of the anchor needs to be considered at the joint design.

Since extensometers are used to determine the absolute deformation of foundation and abutments and all results are obtained in reference to the base rod, the accuracy of these results has been constantly a subject of debate. In this regard, locating and installing extensometers outside the range of effect zone is also another challenge. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate and modify extensometers results based on the mentioned issues. For this aim, the concrete RCC Zhaveh dam in Iran was selected as the case study. To study the results of extensometers installed in this dam, first, the 3DEC_DP 5.00 software was applied for numerical modeling. Parameters such as discontinuities, dead load and piezometric pressure in the interface of concrete and rock were considered. Next, using the results obtained from 6 extensometers in foundation and abutments and 4 clinometers in dam body, the numerical model was calibrated through back analysis method. The results indicate that the base rod is moved and is not recommended being used as the base point. In other words, because installation of base anchor outside the range of effect zone is not possible due to the operational and economic considerations, the obtained results are not accurate enough. The results indicate a considerable 2-3 mm displacement of the base rod (location of the base anchor) in reference to the real zero point location, which must be added to the base rod results.

Numerical models of directional wave spectra for the analysis of offshore structural cable responses are verified. Alternative spreading models are used to predict wave-induced flows in water and for mooring systems. Hydrodynamic wave forces upon cable are estimated. using a Morison formula encompassing considerations for drag and for inertial forces both parallel and tangential to the slope of the cable. Numerical analysis for directional random waves. including consideration of displacement and velocity, trajectory, phase plane response. and tension are shown for mooring system cable responses at both the tether point for a buoy and at the anchor point. The effects of wave forces far different drag coefficients, various significant wave heights, and selected wave parameters are considered in the analysis. For the specific systems considered in the examples, it is demonstrated that wave period and height as well as wave spreading function parameters and drag coefficients, have an important effect upon the dynamic responses of the cable-buoy systems.
To investigate the stability of temporary retaining walls during excavation, it is essential to develop reverse analysis technologies capable of precisely evaluating the properties of the ground and a learning model that can assess stability by analyzing real-time data. In this study, we targeted excavation sites where the C.I.P method was applied. We developed a Deep Neural Network (DNN) model capable of evaluating the stability of the retaining wall, and estimated the physical properties of the ground being excavated using a Differential Evolution Algorithm. We performed reverse analysis on a model composed of a two-layer ground for the applicability analysis of the Differential Evolution Algorithm. The results from this analysis allowed us to predict the properties of the ground, such as the elastic modulus, cohesion, and internal friction angle, with an accuracy of 97%. We analyzed 30,000 cases to construct the training data for the DNN model. We proposed stability evaluation grades for each assessment factor, including anchor axial force, uneven subsidence, wall displacement, and structural stability of the wall, and trained the data based on these factors. The application analysis of the trained DNN model showed that the model could predict the stability of the retaining wall with an average accuracy of over 94%, considering factors such as the axial force of the anchor, uneven subsidence, displacement of the wall, and structural stability of the wall.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the displacement and pattern of stress distribution on periodontal ligaments of maxillary first and second molar, and on orthodontic mini-implant (OMI) surface, according to three different insertion angles to the bone surface of OMI using Dragon helix appliance, which is a newly introduced scissors-bite correcting appliance. OMI were placed between second premolar and first molar with three different insertion angles (45, 60, 90 degrees). Displacement and maximum stress distribution area (MSDA) were analyzed by finite element analysis. When the insertion angle to the alveolar bone surface was 90 degrees, maxillary first and second molar both exhibited MSDA at the palatal root apex. Maxillary first molar did not show any significant displacement, while the second molar exhibited intrusive and palatal displacement. On the OMI, as the insertion angle decreased, the MSDA shifted towards the tip, and the amount of displacement had increased. When the OMI was inserted at a 90 degree angle, anchor loss was minimized and scissors-bite correcting effect was maximized.

In this study, numerical analysis was performed based on field investigation to derive an appropriate reinforcement method by analyzing the displacement behavior characteristics of concrete blocks generated in the direct fixation track on the bridges of the serviced light rail transit. The track of this study was a direct fixation track on a sharp curved track, and the problem of movement of the concrete blocks installed on the bridge deck in the longitudinal and lateral directions occurred. In this study, based on the finite element model using 3D solid elements, the behavior of the direct fixation track that could be occurred under operating load conditions was analyzed. In addition, the reinforcement effect of various reinforcement methods was analyzed. As a result of analyzing the lateral displacement before and after reinforcement, it was analyzed that the maximum lateral displacement after reinforcement under the extreme lateral wheel loads significantly decreased to about 3% (about 0.1mm) compared to before reinforcement. In addition, as a result of examining the generated stress of the filling mortar, bridge decks, and reinforcing bar, it was analyzed that all of them secured a sufficient safety factor of 2.6 or higher, and the optimal conditions for the reinforcement method were derived. Therefore, it is judged that the number of anchoring reinforcements and symmetrical anchor placement reviewed in this study will be effective in controlling the occurrence of lateral displacement of concrete blocks and securing the structural integrity of bridges and concrete blocks.
