  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate color sensation for yellowish natural dye fabrics using magnitude estimation to determine physical colorimetric factors significantly related to human sensibility by establishing power function in psychophysical analysis. Fourteen different yellowish fabrics dyed with natural colorants were selected as stimuli and subjective color sensations including brightness, heaviness, softness, strength, warmth, activeness, classicalness, femininity, and pleasantness for each stimulus were evaluated. As results, yellowish natural dye fabrics in general seemed to evoke feeling of brightness, femininity, and pleasantness more strongly than that of heaviness and classicalness. Most of color sensation were significantly related with more than one of physical color properties, which leads to establishing reliable power functions between them. In the power functions, these relationships could be utilized to design color-sensible natural dye textiles.

  • The paper presents a fuzzy based impulse noise filter for both gray scale and color images. The proposed approach is based on the technique of boundary discriminative noise detection. The algorithm is a multi-step process comprising detection, filtering and color correction stages. The detection procedure classifies the pixels as corrupted and uncorrupted by computing decision boundaries, which are fuzzified to improve the outputs obtained. In the case of color images, a correction term is added by examining the interactions between the color components for further improvement. Quantitative and qualitative analysis, performed on standard gray scale and color image, shows improved performance of the proposed technique over existing state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and color difference metrics. The analysis proves the applicability of the proposed algorithm to random valued impulse noise.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate learning factors (stability, attention and activation) in school by electroencephalogram (theta, alpha and beta waves) analysis during relaxed or concentrated. In order to measure electroencephalograms, MP 150 by Biopac and ECI Electro-Cap are employed. Three types of color temperatures (3000K, 5000K, 7000K) are used and 13 undergraduate and 12 graduate students are selected as experimental subjects. When subjects are relaxed during contemplation or concentrated during mental arithmetic, we compare with stability, attention and activation indices. The test results show that subjects were stable when color temperature is 5000K. Subjects gave best attention when color temperature is 7000K. Subjects activated well when color temperature is 3000K during relaxed attention. However, subjects activated rigorous when color temperature is 7000K during constrained attention.

  • The focus of this paper is on devising an efficient clustering task for arbitrary color data. In order to tackle this problem, the inherent uncertainty and vagueness of color are represented by a fuzzy color model. By taking a fuzzy approach to color representation, the proposed model makes a soft decision for the vague regions between neighboring colors. A definition on a three-dimensional fuzzy color ball is introduced, and the degree of membership of color is computed by employing a distance measure between a fuzzy color and color data. With the fuzzy color model, a novel fuzzy clustering algorithm for efficient partition of color data is developed.

  • Safflower, a natural dye representing red, is the dye that materials and dyeing method are recorded in the literature, including materials and dyeing. Although the safflower is the same, the ash used as a mordant is recorded differently in each literature, which greatly affects the aesthetic perspective in realizing the traditional safflower red. Therefore, the optimal conditions for realizing the traditional safflower red were sought. The experiment was conducted by pH investigation, dyeing and color analysis by dyeing solution water, concentration, and temperature by ash, and the unique color of red was confirmed. As a result of the test, the pH point of time when the uniq ue color was expressed was 11.53 as goosefoot ash (natural bedrock water), which was 1:100 for concentration and 70℃ for temperature, which was easier to extract red pigment than other ash, indicating that it is suitable for safflower dyeing. The analysis of the ash showed that K and Si play an important role in dyeing, especially Si, which is an element that inhibits carthamon. The color of red was similar to that of KS Standard vivid purplish red in the ash of the goosefoot, and the other ash was deep purplish pink. In the light of findings, it was possible to quantify the dyeing method through traditional materials and find the standard color of red color, and it is judged to be a basic data for studying the unique color of natural materials.

  • Digital color analysis was used to determine the gonadal maturity stages and levels of robust tonguefish Cynoglossus robustus specimens collected from the South Sea of Korea. Maturity stages were determined using photomicrographs depicting ovarian developmental phases and compared with digital color values. Speciments of C. robustus ranged in total length from 21 to 40 cm, with mature ovaries predominantly observed in specimens exceeding 30 cm in length. Monthly color values of the ovaries were primarily concentrated in the 1st and 4th quadrants of the color space, with a* and b* values ranging within ±20 and ±15, respectively. The color values of the testes were predominantly located in the 1st and 4sth quadrants, with a* and b* values ranging from -10 to 10 and -5 to 10, respectively. Although the color values of the mature and spawning stages overlap within a narrow range, distinguishing between them requires consideration of both color values and their monthly distribution. This study underscores the effectiveness of using digital color measurements over subjective visual assessments to evaluate the maturity of C. robustus gonads, thereby providing more quantitative insights into their reproductive biology.

  • The colors of a tinted lens for a mixed color could be applied to a subtractive mixture's law, and the estimation of a tinted lens used the properties of optical absorptions and the color analysis. The optical absorption properties of Yellow(x)-Blue(1-x) depended on the yellow color in short wavelength below 500 nm, the absorption in the 550~650 nm wavelength regions depended on the blue color. The absorption band in the 550~650 nm wavelength regions was a peak for an ion of transition metal. The color properties of Yellow(x)-Blue(1-x) analysing by the $L^*a^*b^*$ of CIE system shifted to toward $+a^*$ decreasing x, it was formed of a pure color because of a low saturation existing in +0.6.

  • Purpose - This study was intended to provide implications for the importance of color to airlines where the image customers feel about the business is paramount. The importance of colors shown by the airline crew, an important human resource for airlines as contact workers, was investigated. We wanted to present suggestions by investigating and comparing the difference in customer attitude regarding the color of uniforms of the airline crew. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted to examine differences in perception of airline uniform color, with the research that suggests that the customer's attitude to uniform color will vary. The difference in the perception of passengers according to the colors of the airline uniforms was determined by conducting an empirical analysis. Results - Customers have a different attitude about the color of the uniform of airline's flight attendants' uniform. Full service airlines (FSC) generally have a bright, calm, neat, and heavy-handed feeling, while low-cost carriers (LCC) have a distinctive, dynamic, energetic, and cheerful feeling. Conclusions - An empirical analysis of the study found that customers' attitudes vary by uniform color for each airline. It has also been revealed that Airline's uniform color can communicate the company's goals it wants to convey.
