  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications. • This paper deals with the effect of the direct heating method(DHM) for straightening the micro wire. Straightened micro wires have been widely used in the fields of the medicine and the semi-conductor. We have developed a micro wire straightening system by using the direct wire heating method. To controling the tension of the micro wire during the heating and straightening process, a precision tension sensor was set up. In order to avoid the surface oxidation during the heating process, the argon inert gas was supplied to the vicinity of the wire. And, this paper shows the correlation between the tension and the current when arson gas supplied to the tungsten wire. Through several experiments, the optimal tension and current were found. Also, higher straightness $({\approx}1{\mu}m/1000{\mu}m)$ and roundness$(<{\Phi}{\pm}2{\mu}m/100{\mu}m)$ founded when $500{\mu}600gf$ tension and 1.5 ampere.

  • As Information society has expanded in large scale. In order to improve the reliability and Qos(Quality of service), domestic IDC(Internet Data Center) has adopted or will adopt the SLAs(Service Level Agreements). The power quality of internet hosting server unit, power system and UPS is very important for better internet service. Therefore, the higher reliability or power system is imperative for satisfying SLAs. This paper presents the status measurement of domestic IDCs harmonics and illustrates the reduction effect of harmonics through the multi-phase.

  • Maximum torque per ampere vector controller is widely used to control permanent magnet synchronous motors. For the controller to work properly, it is important to know the exact values of motor parameters such as a stator resistance, inductances, and the flux linkage of the permanent magnet. In this paper, an adaptive control algorithm is proposed to estimate these parameters using MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System). Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, a new approach for the synchronous reluctance motor control which ensures producing maximum torque per ampere(MIPA) over the entire field weakening region is presented. In addition, This paper presents a speed sensorless control scheme of SynRM using artificial neural network. Also, by adjusting the base speed for the field weakening operation according to the flux level, the current and voltage limit, the smooth and precise transition into the field weakening operation can be achieved. The proposed scheme is verified validity through simulation.

  • Revision of the International System of Units (SI) in terms of fundamental constants was achieved by the 26th General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) in November 2018. Four base units (kilogram, ampere, kelvin, and mole) of SI were redefined by fixing the values of the Planck constant h, elementary charge e, Boltzmann constant k, and Avogadro constant $N_A$ respectively. In this paper the scientific principle for redefining the kilogram from the Planck constant with the Kibble balance is explained as an example. The revised SI takes effect on May 20, 2019.

  • This paper presents a nonlinear sliding mode control (SMC) scheme with a variable damping ratio for interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs). First, a nonlinear sliding surface whose parameters change continuously with time is designed. Actually, the proposed SMC has the ability to reduce the settling time without an overshoot by giving a low damping ratio at the initial time and a high damping ratio as the output reaches the desired setpoint. At the same time, it enables a fast convergence in finite time and eliminates the singularity problem with the upper bound of an uncertain term, which cannot be measured in practice, by using a simple adaptation law. To improve the efficiency of a system in the constant torque region, the control system incorporates the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) algorithm. The stability of the nonlinear sliding surface is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theory. Moreover, a simple sliding mode observer is used to estimate the load torque and system uncertainties. The effectiveness of the proposed nonlinear SMC scheme is verified using comparative experimental results of the linear SMC scheme when the speed reference and load torque change under system uncertainties. From these experimental results, the proposed nonlinear SMC method reveals a faster transient response, smaller steady-state speed error, and less sensitivity to system uncertainties than the linear SMC method.

  • In the evaluation of aging degradation on the structural materials based on the fracture mechanics, the detection and size prediction of defect are very important. Aiming at nondestructive detection and size prediction ol defect with high accuracy and resolution, therefore, an lnduced Current Focusing Potential Drop(ICFPD) technique has been developed. The principle of this technique is to induce a focusing current at an exploratory region by an induction wire flowing an alternating current(AC) that is a constant ampere and frequency. Defects are assessed with the potential drops that are measured the induced current on the surface of metallic material by the potential pick-up pins. In this study, the lCFPD technique was applied for evaluating the location and size of the surface crack and blind crack made in plate specimens, and also for detecting the defects existing in valve, a field component, that were developed by SCC etc. during the service. The results of this present study show that surface crack and blind crack are able to defect with potential drop. these cracks are distinguished with the distribution of potential drop, and the crack depths can be estimated with each normalized potential drop that are parameters estimating the depth of each type crack. In the field component, the defects estimated by experiment result correspond with those in the cutting face of the measuring point within a higher sensitivity.

  • Austenite stainless steel(SA213-TP347H) has widely been used for the superheater & reheater tube in USC(ultra-supercritica) coal boiler because of its high creep rupture strength and anti-oxidation. But recently, the short-term failures have happened frequently in heat affected zone for only 4,000~15,000hours of service. Many investigations have been conducted to understand the failure mechanism. The root cause of failure was comfirmed to "strain induce participation hardening crack" or "reheat cracking". This mechanism often occurred due to weld residual stress and precipitation of the Cr, Nb carbides in the stabilized stainless steel such as TP347H. This paper presents an analysis of failure tube and effect of the sample tubes that conducting stabilizing heat treatment in site after 11,380hours & 16,961hours of service. Visual inspection was performed. In addition, microscopic characteristics was identified by O.M, SEM, and hardness test was carried out to find out the heat treatment effects. Failures seem to happen because of being not conducted stabilizing heat treatment in site. And another cause is inadequate weld parameter such as pass, ampere, voltage, inter-pass temperature. Thus, this paper has the purpose to describe that how to prevent similar failures in those weld-joints.

  • The flat transformer, typically, has a number of parallel single turn secondary windings. Each secondary winding is coupled to the same primary winding. Therefore, the current in each secondary winding is equal to the ampere-turns in the primary winding, and to each other. These characteristics are particularly advantageous where parallel rectifiers are used. The windings share the current equally, with no need for ballast resistors or other added components. In this study, the ferrite magnetic core samples of Mn-Zn system for the Flat transformer are manufactured and the electrical and magnetic characteristics of its tested. The density of sample FO2-2 sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ is $4.00kg/m^3$, which shows the good microstructural state. The initial permeability and saturation flux density of FO2 at room temperature is 2700 and 510mT, individually. The power loss of FO2 samples at 250kHz have been ranged $350kW/m^3$ to $80kW/m^3$ with temperature. And the minimum power loss of sample FO2-2 showed at $70^{\circ}C$, which property seems very positive to apply for a flat transformer.
