The Binding Nature between Chromophore and Apoprotein in the Photoreceptor of Stentor coeruleus Probed by Conformational Analysis

  • To understand the nature of the linkage between chromophore and apoprotein in the photoreceptor of Stentor coeruleus, a conformational analysis has been carried out on the dipeptide amides linked to the chromophore hypericin using an empirical potential function. The conformational energies for the dipeptide amides of Glu (OHyp)-X-NHMe, where X = Leu, Phe, Asp, and Tyr, have been calculated to investigate the influence of peptide residues in stabilizing conformers. It was found that the increase of acidity of hypericin upon photoexcitation may be facilitated by the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds between hydroxyl groups of hypericin and carbonyl groups of peptide backbone, and that the stabilities of dipeptide amides do not significantly depend on peptide residues directly linked to chromophore.

숙신산 알킬 하프-아마이드 유도체의 합성 및 해수에 대한 방청성능 (Synthesis and Anti-corrosion Properties of Succinic Acid Alkyl Half-amide Derivatives)

  • 아마이드 유도체는 방청성능 및 윤활성능이 우수하여 금속가공유 및 유압작동유등의 첨가제로 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 광유계 윤활기유의 방청제로 사용하기 위하여 알킬 무수 숙신산과 여러 가지 아민과의 링개환 반응을 행하여 카르복실 그룹과 아마이드 그룹을 동시에 포함하는 숙신산 알킬 하프-아마이드 유도체들을 97% 이상의 수율로 합성하였으며 합성구조에 따라 1 중량% 농도범위에서 광유계 오일에 용해되었다. 합성 유도체의 구조는 $^1H$-NMR 및 FT-IR 스펙트럼으로 행하였으며 GC 크로마토그램을 통하여 화합물의 순도를 확인하였다. 또한, 합성 유도체의 해수에 대한 방청성능을 ASTM D665 표준방법과 무게 중량법으로 평가한 결과, 합성 유도체의 농도가 증가하고 알킬기의 사슬이 짧고 2차 아민으로 합성한 숙신산 알킬 하프-아마이드의 방청성능이 1차 아민으로 합성한 유도체보다 상대적으로 방청성능이 우수하였다. 무게 중량법으로 평가한 방청효율% (IE%)는 알킬기의 사슬이 짧을수록 우수한 방청효율을 나타내었으며 구조에 따라 방청효율에 차이를 나타내었다. 40 ppm 농도를 첨가한 오일의 IE%는 최고 93% 이상이었다. 또한, 발청속도(Corrosion Rate, CR)는 알킬기의 사슬이 짧을수록 낮은 값을 나타내어 합성 유도체 40 ppm 농도를 첨가한 오일의 CR 값은 최고 0.5 mm/year 이하로 나타났다.

  • Organic compounds, such as aldehydes, amines, amides, sulfur compounds of polymers, have been added to cyanide Zinc electroplating bath to achieve in improvement of the brightness and of the current efficiency. It was found that the addition of only one compound o these organic compounds in the bath were unsuitable to be used for brightener, but mixure of aldehyde and reaction products obtained from epoxides and amines and/or amides were suitable for brightener in cyanide zinc electroprating baths.

  • Amides from amino acid ester and nalidixic acid were synthesized. The solubility characteristics and partition coefficient of the compounds were studied. The hydrolysis of the compounds was studied in the simulated gastric fluid and simulated intestinal fluid. Some compounds showed better antibacterial activity than nalidixic acid.

  • Data on the solubility of p-hydroxy-benzoate in amide-water cosolvent system and surface tension of the binary amide-water cosolvents are analyzed in terms of the possible mechanism for cosolvency. The results of the study suggest that strong partitioning of the alkylated amides to the ester surface, thus reducing the hydrophobic interface within the system, nay account for much of the cosolvency phenomena observed in these systems.

Cinmetacin의 amide 유도체 합성과 항염진통활성 (Synthesis and Antiinflammatory-analgesic Activity of Cinmetacin Amides)

  • Five novel cinmetacin amide derivatives as potential nonsteroidal antiinflammatory and analgesic compounds were prepared and their antiinflammatory-analgesic activity was compared with cinmetacin. Cinmetacin and hydroxysuccinimide were reacted with dicyclohexyl carbodiimide to give cinmetacin active ester (4), which was treated with amines to yield cinmetacin amides (5-9). Compounds (5) and (9) gave stronger analgesic activity than cinmetacin and compounds (5), (6), (9) showed comparable antiinflammatory activity to cinmetacin.

  • Hydrogel membranes were prepared by copolymerizing 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (VP) in the presence of the solvent and the crosslinker tetraethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA). By changing the monomer composition and the crosslinker content, different membranes were synthesized. Using these membranes, relative permeabilities and distribution coefficients for amides including urea were measured. The water contents in membrane were also measured. On the basis of solute-membrane matrix interaction, the results were interpreted.

  • Iodine-induced lactonization of ${\alpha}$-Phenylsulfonyl-${\gamma},{\delta}$-Unsaturated Amides provided 2,4-trans-substitued ${\gamma}$-butyrolactones in high selectivity. NBS-or NCS-induced lactonization of N,N-dimethyl-2-(phenylsulfonyl)-4-pentenamide in DME-$H-2O(2:1 vol)$ gave 2-halo-4-(halomethyl)-2-(phenylsulfonyl)-${\gamma}$-butyrolactone.

  • 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-undecyl-2-imidazoline로부터 유도된 9종의 양쪽성 계면활성제에 대한 표면장력과 등전점을 일정농도의 수용액에서 비교 검토하였고, 표면장력법에 의하여 cmc를 추정하였다. 카르복시화 아미드류의 표면장력은 $4.0{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-3}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 26~40dyne/cm, 술폰화 또는 황산화 이미다졸린류는 $1.5{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}2.5{\times}10^{-3}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 30~35dyne/cm, 술폰화 아미드류는 $5.8{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}8.0{\times}10^{-4}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 25~33dyne/cm이었다. 또한 등전점의 pH 범위는 카르복시화 아미드류는 pH 7.2~7.9, 술폰화 또는 황산화 이미다졸린류와 술폰화 아미드류는 pH 4.5~5.5이었다.

Sustainable Development of Palm Oil: Synthesis and Electrochemical Performance of Corrosion Inhibitors

  • Palm oil production is among the highest worldwide, and it has been mainly used in the food industry and other commodities. Currently, a lot of palm oil production has been destined for the synthesis of biodiesel; however, its use in applications other than the food industry has been questioned. Thereby for a sustainable development, in this paper the use of palm oil of low quality for corrosion inhibitors synthesis is proposed. The performance of the synthesized inhibitors was evaluated by using electrochemical techniques such as open circuit potential measurements, linear polarization resistance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results indicate that the fatty amides from palm oil are excellent corrosion inhibitors with protection efficiencies greater than 98%. Fatty amides molecules act as cathodic inhibitors decreasing the anodic dissolution of iron. When fatty amides are added, a rapid decrease in the corrosion rate occurs due to the rapid formation of a molecular film onto carbon steel surface. During the adsorption process of the inhibitor a self-organization of the hydrocarbon chains takes place forming a tightly packed hydrophobic film. These results demonstrate that the use of palm oil for the production of green inhibitors promises to be an excellent alternative for a sustainable use of the palm oil production.
